Elisabetta Senesi, Soundwalk, September 25, 2021
From Elisabetta Senesi
In the third and last soundwalk of this project we decided to reorient the initial listening path together by switching the role of the conductor for the first 30min, and partly change the main route. We used some previous sound notations as prompts/scores to inspire/create our new walking journey into the streets of Livorno by documenting all that. This an interpreted final notation of the experience with images/sounds I collected while walking, and combined together afterwards.
From Elisabetta Senesi
• automobilisti stanchi ci guardano attraversare sulle strisce pedonali
Here below some situations noticed during a second soundwalk:
• portable volleyball courts artfully set up by young boys in the park
• young girls on the walls of the park listening to trap music from tel
• retirees chatting about sport with their wives in separate benches
• caregivers smoke cigarettes among themselves with no talking
• one man reads a book, another listens to pop music on his phone
• young girls play football in the park and coming by skateboard
• children in the play area with their parents go roller-skating
• the scooters whiz by but stop as we (soundwalkers) pass by
• a huge pumpkin at the park entrance is thrown to the ground
• dog owners huddle on the sidewalks where we (soundwalkers) pass
• strange French small car wanders at an urban intersection
• tired motorists watch us pass on the pedestrian crossing
• a waterfront carousel turns with music with a few children on it
• a drone flies high on the sea view terrace where we end the walk

—Vento.
- Wind. Conductor of distant sounds.
- How small I must be for you looking at me from the tenth floor.
- The noise of the diesel engine is very different from petrol.
- In the illusion of silence ... the hum of the mosquito sounds like the sound of a moving train.
- Bike brakes. Woman's eyes.
- In silence, every sense comes on.
