the concept of mulder, an atheist, reverently kissing scully on the forehead and then on both sides of her face in a manner that depicts the sign of the cross is just a little too insane for me.

friendly reminder that, if given only a second left in a timeline where they still know each other, the last thing mulder would do before ceasing to exist is kiss scully.

mulder, thinking scully is backing away and immediately apologizing for trying to kiss her, then breathing a sigh of relief when he realizes that isn’t the case, gently caressing her stung neck before leveling her with a panicked look as she clinically lists down her symptoms ... fight the future hallway scene, you will always be famous!

i just find it so beautiful that the person the government sent to spy on mulder became his greatest ally, his best friend, his most loyal partner, and the love of his life.

and the very first step of scully becoming all these things to mulder happened on their first case together. those men in black never stood a chance.

mulder telling scully during their first case together that all that mattered to him was the x-files and uncovering the truth to mulder willing to sacrifice his career and life's work to give scully justice and ensure her health and safety...

call it his malewife transformation if you will.

there's something profoundly striking about scully recognizing that mulder is both her endangerer and her protector, and still choosing to call him her perfect other.
