ECCLESIASTES S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 3

SCRIPTURE:

I know that whatever God does will last forever; it’s impossible to add to it or take away from it. God has done this so that people are reverent before Him. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:14

OBSERVATION:

Whatever God does last forever...

His offer of grace and mercy, for starters...

His forgiveness for my repentance and surrender of my will for His...

I don't have to add anything I can (can?) do in order to be saved from my sinfulness - though works don't hurt, they don't save, either...

...and I am always before Him...

...though I may not be facing Him sometimes...

...which is the height of irreverence...

APPLICATION:

Be reverent before Him...

Remember I am always before Him...

PRAYER:

Eternal Father - Thank You for providing all I need in order to face You in confession and praise - and I ask Your forgiveness for those times when I look away to my own wants and willfulness instead of reverently facing You, seeking Your will as Jesus did, and acting on it as Your Spirit leads and instructs, again, as Jesus did - may I pause before any selfish thought turns into a word or action that puts me before You and Your grace and mercy and sovereignty - In Jesus Name, Father, and for Your ultimate glory, honor, praise and coming Kingdom...

Reverently before Him - and humbly before y'all...

My ten year old Oscar Wilde post is getting notes again, is it because of that new "Dorian Gray" adaptation that's going to have Dorian and Basil be brothers bc if so ... hi, welcome, I also hate that.

Also: It makes me so happy that what I wrote back then still resonates with so many people. I still stand by that post and I can't believe it's been ten years. I visited Wilde's grave again this April and it felt like coming full circle somehow.
