BABYSHAMBLES | NOTHING COMES TO NOTHING

'De geest uit de fles' Ik was ervan overtuigd dat Pete Doherty ergens onder een krakkemikkige brug lag te verwelken, trippend op zijn hoogtijdagen met Kate Moss. Ik was er honderd procent zeker van dat zijn naam over een jaar of vijf in een krant voorbij zou komen, verstopt in een kort bericht van nog geen 144 letters waarin wordt vermeld dat ze hem op een smerig zolderkamertje dood hebben gevonden, hij lag er al tien dagen. 

Maar ineens is hij er! Springlevend (in beperkte mate) en met zowaar een heerlijk jengelend liedje om ons de zomer mee door te helpen. Na albums Shotter’s Nation en Down in Albion gaat Doherty met zijn Babyshambles gewoon weer verder waar hij was gebleven. Blijkbaar is muziek ook een verslaving waar hij maar niet van afkomt. Gelukkig maar.

Want de nieuwe single ‘Nothing Comes To Nothing’ van Doherty & Co's nieuwe album 'Sequel To The Prequel' is misschien wel één van Babyshambles' beste songs tot op heden. De prettige gitaarmelodietjes en Doherty's rammelende zang geven je het gevoel dat de zomer vrijwel op haar hoogtepunt is. Kom maar op met die warmste dag van het jaar!

  Babyshambles and Parlophone are thrilled to announce that the third Babyshambles album Sequel To The Prequel will be released on September 2nd. Preceded by a first single Nothing Comes To Nothing -- due for release on August 26th -- the album was recorded at Question Du Son, Paris and mixed in The Bunker, London, with producer/mixer and long time Shambles collaborator Stephen Street. Filled with hooks and humour, the album features some of the band's finest ever lyrics ranging from the tender to the downright hilarious. Musically it has already been called their most accomplished and collaborative work to date.
