Iris was...fine. Ish. As fine as someone with as much trauma as she could be after living two years with her head down, hiding her mutant abilities (which was easy given what they were), dedicating herself to her actual job, and going to therapy. And downloading that really cute therapy app. Honestly that was more helpful than the actual therapy on some days, not to mention it was bird themed.
This morning, she felt pretty good. Her scar hadn't hurt her in a while and she didn't have night terrors for once. Her work was going well. She had started work in a new place about a year ago. It was a bird sanctuary that teamed up with a local university. Of course it didn't pay the best, and this was New York, so Iris had started freelance drawing on the side. A few of her pieces had wound up in some nature magazines, and she had just finished illustrating a children's picture book. To celebrate, Iris decided to pack her favorite snacks, take her drawing pad and watch the birds greet the sun. Usually Iris was more of a night owl, but that's what made watching the sunrise so special this morning.
Iris found a tree to sit under and had just finished pulling out her drawing supplies when she saw it. A few yards off was another figure sitting. They seemed to be watching the sun.
Iris almost threw up. She recognized the posture, the hair, the style of clothes.
It was Raze.
She had avoided the bastard for two years, and now he was here? Iris held back a snort and quietly packed her things. There were other parks, and other sunrises. Maybe today was a 'sleep in and eat favorite snacks and watch bird documentaries' sort of day. That was a nice way to celebrate. Order some take-out, snuggle in her pajamas. Yeah, that would work. She zipped her backpack and shouldered it, and walked away. Iris kept her pace even and smooth, forcing herself to enjoy the morning breeze. Running would draw attention and that was the last thing she needed. She sighed and looked over the park one last time.
The birds could wait, her safety could not.

I drew Tippy-Toe!
“If you ever get scared, you can hold my hand.” (Said with a shiteating grin of course)
McCoy laughed.
"Are you that starved for physical contact?"
"If you need a hand to hold, use this one." He chuckled as he dangled the corpse's hand (and the rest of the unattached limb) inches from Raze's face.

"Wow, mister, you're blue!' Six-year-old Kylee said as she stared up at Raze in amazement. "Are you a monster?"
His skin was blue, and his hair was red, and his eyes were yellow. Mom and dad had told her that people that that were like that were mutants and mutants were monsters, but Kylee's favorite color was blue, and monsters weren't blue. Monsters were dark and scary, and they lived under your bed and ate all you good dreams and turned them into bad dreams.
They were also on tv hurting normal people.... like the mutant Magneto. But Magneto was red and purple. This guy was blue and not under her bed or on the tv. So maybe he wasn't a mutant?
Kylee was confused and a little scared. She didn't know where her mom and dad were.
