The Verdict is in...
I just received an email from the race organizer on whether or not I would be able to use a recumbent bike to compete in the triathlon.
It’s a no go. To his credit, he just didn’t give me a no. He was actually in talks with the USA Triathlon Commissioner of Officials about this. So, I thank him very much for going to bat for me. It was a really nice gesture and I’m grateful for him going above and beyond like that. So, if you are able bodied enough to compete in an event run by DLT Events, I would say give it a go. They seem to be good folks who will listen to you and care a lot about their participants.
Where do I go from here, then? Honestly, I am not sure. I know the goal of participating in this event was a huge motivator for me and now that I don’t have that, I know I need to find something else pretty soon so I can stay on target.
But, I do know that no matter what I decide, I’m not giving up on my health. I’ve just got to find a plan B. Any suggestions are more than welcome.
