COSPLAY TIME MOTHERFUCKERS
SO since nothing is here yet and I can't actually show you guys my stupid excited face opening packages and shit, I'M GONNA GIVE YOU A TEASER OF MY COSPLAY (because all four of you TOTALLY give a shit) by posting pics of the stuff I ordered as displayed on the website~ I'll also provide links so if you're interested, you can save yourself fifteen hours of research. All links open in new tabs.
Before I start I just want to say that I'm doing a heavily stylized version of Raven because I want it to look less cartoon-y and more realistic (like a live-action movie). Just as one example, I almost never use gold-colored items for action-oriented characters because seriously, why would you wear anything that's gold if you're fighting for your life every day? It's all soft and maleable and prone to breaking or scratching really easily. I mainly use bronze instead ^^
ANYWAY HERE GOES
BOOTS. THEY ARE IMPORTANT. It's just my opinion, but I think nothing ruins a good cosplay faster than a pair of ratty old sneakers on the cosplayer's feet. These took me a while to find, because I didn't want more than, say, a half-inch (wedge) heel, because have you ever tried to fight in six-inch stilettos? It just doesn't work. Literally every pair I could find on Etsy that fit my criteria were a size 7, and normally I'm a size 8 or even 9, so hopefully I can squeeze my giant clown feet into these boots.
I liked these boots a little better, because of the line around the top that resembles the cuff on Raven's boots, but they were a bit more expensive and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get all the scuff marks off. There were also these alternatives.
BELT BEZELS AND CABOCHONS. See what I mean about stylized? The bezels and jewels are a little smaller than I would have liked (the bezel being just over an inch around and the jewels about half an inch), but finding big enough settings with at least two connector holes so I can attach it to the belt chain wasted a good three hours of my time, so I compromised. These will also be the jewels that go on my hands.
BROOCH BEZEL, CABOCHON AND RHINESTONES. I knew I wanted the brooch to be bigger than the belt jewels, so I spent a LONG time finding this, and when I finally stumbled across it, it was so perfect for what I needed it to be I could have cried. (I'll explain why when I start putting everything together.) The bezel is about two inches. Unfortunately, I had a hard time finding the right-sized cabochon for the setting, so I picked a smaller stone (it's still a little bigger than the belt jewels) and purchased a small set of rhinestones to go around the perimeter.
LEOTARD. (Also comes in black, two shades of blue, and red - handy for her various emoticlones!) I don't have much to say on this other than that I really lucked out finding exactly what I wanted at a great price after looking for only ten or fifteen minutes. Pretty much everything else took several hours to find for each item.
That's all for now! I purchased a few other items but they're mostly mundane stuff (gloves, belt chain, etc.). Everything was purchased through Etsy (which was really more of a funny coincidence, because I didn't start out trying to find everything there), except the leotard and gloves.
