Shatter (WHOOPS)
Send me “Shatter” and I’ll write a scene where your character breaks my character’s heart.
His heart stopped, jumped into his throat, and exploded all in one single split second.
This couldn't be real.
It was all a dream.
A really cruel nightmare.
His blue eyes were wide with shock and fear as he blood splattered against the polished white walls. Calloused hand fell slack upon the grip of his gun, making the small object clatter to the floor as her body fell none too gracefully as well. Moving upon instinct, Killian fell to his knees, attempting to catch her, knowing it was too late. Far too late.
In the time he'd spent with her, she'd always seemed so durable. Always able to heal from the worst of wounds and heal those who were near the brink of death.
Now her corpse lay in his arms, still warm.
Still b l e e d i n g.
More bodies hurried past him, more rebels. A painful reminder of why she'd done what she done. Why she'd sacrificed her life. She'd held out on him. Refused to tell him that the first person to walk through the door would have to die. They could have used a random person from the street, one of the Capitol people. Yet she wouldn't have wanted that. Wouldn't have wanted more innocent blood spilled.
So why the hell should hers now coat the marble floors, doors and walls?
Killian had never known anyone so innocent, so truly good to the core. His hand brushed back her dirty blonde hair, blinking away the tears that poured down his cheeks as gun shots, bombs, and screams echoed all around him. They were all naught but background noise. Her final words took hold of his mind.
"No matter what happens, just promise me you'll kill him, okay? Do it for me. Do it for you. Do it for everyone. And... do it for us. For all we've gone through."
They had been so odd to him, so nonsensical. But she had known. She knew that she wouldn't have the chance to kill him herself. And now.... now it was on his shoulders to do it. She'd given her own life so everyone else with goodness in their hearts could live. And no matter how much it killed him to see the only person he'd ever truly cared for laying against him, a bloody, dead corpse... he knew he would fulfill her dying wish.
