*Candy was on a mission: get to the kitchen. It didn't matter that her room down here was fitted with a kitchenette, just like the one upstairs. She would go crazy if she stayed in her room for any longer.*
*The place was quiet. Candy expected to have to go it alone; Emcee, much as they adored each other, couldn't be expected to accompany her on everything. It didn't make her feel any less lonely, though. She touched the bracelet Nova gifted her idly, thinking of her other Nyarlathotep friend. She hoped they were okay. Chuckling at herself, not knowing if this was going to work, she had to give this a try. Candy called out in the halls.*
Nova, sweetie? Is my cosmic brownie here?

*There’s no response for several seconds. Then, there’s the sound of a door clicking open. It’s faint, from maybe the next hallway, but it’s audible.*
*The sound of uneven footsteps can be heard. There isn’t the click of a crutch.*
*Nova turns the corner, following the voice of Candy. Their hand is against the wall, supporting their aching leg. They’re walking slowly, their crutch nowhere to be seen. They look exhausted.*
“…I’m here, Candy. Hello.”
*They try to smile. It just makes them look more tired.*
