A while back @mephisto-reporting put out this fun little list of goofy headcanons for each LI and they low key fried my brain with how fantastic they were so here are my own additions if anyone's interested <3333
sylus
Yes, he does own a monocle, and no he won't ever wear it, it's an antique collectible, thank you very much.
One of the ways he passes the time during long business calls is to play chess against himself.
He's really superstitious but not when it comes to business... only when it comes to dates with you. Like he'll always wear the same pair of socks, or jewelry, or take the same motorcycle as he did when he had a date with you he wants to repeat. It's Sylus' way of manifesting *wink wink*
He orders extra-soft, custom-branded toilet paper for the Base's bathrooms. Luke and Kieran are the ones who order it; only the best for boss-man's bum.
Yes, he also owns a pocket watch, but you absolutely can convince him to wear that.
He only backs in when he parks his vehicles and motorcycles because it’s “more efficient” even though it takes the same amount of time.
He can't stand serrated knives, everything about them is an abomination, but particularly the fact that they can't be sharpened.
Despite his thrilling adventures, Sylus hates rollercoasters. Jumping out of planes, racing motorcycles, getting into car chases, he can control all of those. What he can't control is the death trap that some barely paid teen straps him into and steers.
caleb
He has an entire cabinet in his kitchen dedicated to pre-workout powders and all of the flavours names are just colors like Red, Blue, etc.
Dogs do indeed love Caleb, but that's because he carries dog treats in his pockets so every dog that crosses paths with him wants to come closer.
He really loves rocking chairs but only sits in them when he's doomscrolling on socials.
Yes, fine, he has tried your bra on but it was when he was a teenager and it was only once (twice).
He salutes every smart device that has a voice: GPSes, OTTOs, smart home devices, phone assistants.
Gun to his head, the man cannot write in cursive. His signature is literally just his best attempt at mimicking cursive by adding random swooshes to some of the characters/letters.
You can rile him up super easily if you call his model planes “toys.”
He finds it hilarious to challenge people to arm wrestling competitions and then use his mech arm to win instantly.
zayne
Is the only doctor at akso who's handwriting is actually legible.
He has a whole drawer in his desk at the hospital dedicated to stickers for his patients. He also has a backup drawer at home filled with stickers.
He rarely gets iced drinks because he can do it better himself and without watering the drink down.
In the early years of university he got really close to getting a piercing multiple times but the universe always had a way of preventing it from happening.
He gets headaches on days he doesn’t have caffeine in the morning. He still refuses to admit he has a caffeine addiction.
Zayne is ambidextrous.
Instinctively reads every clipboard he encounters like it's a medical chart when he's not at the hospital.
He stress bakes; the measuring and precision of the process help him decompress.
If something funny catches him off guard, he does a lil snort when he laughs.
Speaking of Zayne's nose, he also snores when he (finally) hits a REM cycle. It's not a particularly loud or disturbing snore, more like mouth breathing, but it's there.
Except for one (I'd like to think it's their equivalent of Scrubs), Zayne absolutely hates every medical drama created bc of its inaccuracies (sorry, Dawnbreaker).
rafayel
Can do a full split. You only discover it when you force him to go to a yoga class with you one day.
He adds salt to random foods.
Calls his baths “meetings” when canceling plans.
He's really bad at remembering names, but he's really good at making donors and buyers think he remembers when he's required to attend an event.
Raf is deeply offended by the representation of mermaids in the media and making a dinglehopper/little mermaid joke results in a minimum of 10 minutes of pouting.
Yes, he used your eyeshadow as paint in an emergency once when he ran out of watercolours, and no he hasn't told you yet.
Rafayel thinks he's great at whistling but absolutely isn’t, and will confidently do it anyway.
Once gave Thomas a painting titled “Deadline Anxiety,” which was just a blank canvas with a frowny face in the middle. It eventually sold for way too much money.
He hates the way shoes feel on his feet and only wears them bc they’re an "unnecessary social construct."
Raf tries to rearrange his room every few months for a different vibe, but always switches it back when he wakes in the middle of the night to paint and can’t find anything.
xavier
He eats more fruit if it’s chopped up, put on a plate, and set in front of him while he’s in the middle of something.
Finds things like 'snap streaks' amusing bc he and Jeremiah have exchanged some form of greeting every day for the past few decades.
Has over 50,000 unread emails and refuses to get rid of the lil notification that shows that number in his phone.
Xavier's extremely talented at calligraphy and has a whole set of pens and stationery that he’s forgotten about somewhere.
He's lost track of how many university degrees he has.
He goes to Linkon's reddit equivalent to keep up with Earth slang.
Sits criss-cross applesauce a majority of the time, on the couch, on the floor, on dining chairs, in restaurants, doesn't matter where.
He uses his evol as a laser pointer when he's around cats.
Completes every customer service survey and is way too honest in them, like paragraphs of feedback.
He's solved every daily crossword in the Linkon version of the New York Times since the newspaper's inception.
He hasn't eaten a loaf of bread since Charlie moved in and now uses literally any other baked good for any bread needs.
Do you think only being around Mephone, and Cobs gives the Ii characters a warped perspective of morality?
Think about it, they have been stuck in a game with the only sense of right and wrong is being put in the calm down corner. Other than that, they don’t know anything. Doing very questionable stuff and getting away with it because they collectively don’t know how real people are like. And with Mephone also lacking the knowledge of good and bad due to being made by Cobs, they never get corrected. But the beauty of that is that they learn anyways, they grow and teach eachother how to be the best people they can be
For example, Nickel and Balloon and their journey of forgiveness and betterment, Test Tube and Lightbulb and their paralleling arc of Logic vs Chaos, Taco and Mic and their whole thing I can’t even put simply. They all made mistakes and learned by eachother.
Now- Fan for me is an interesting case, he -like others- grows over the experience he had with Test Tube and the shimmers. Learning to let go, learning there’s more out there than the show, learning to trust and rely on Test Tube, etc. and he seems to be pretty secure with himself for a while!! ….until the finale.
Where he learns how Mephone created them.
…Like him and Test Tube created Bot.
And thus his character regresses, he’s become anxious and overthinks a lot getting excited about anything inanimate insanity because that is his comfort. It is shown in episode 2 of the 4th season that he heavily basis his own personal morality on Mephone. He is a very perspective and observant so I am sure he can tell he has a lot of similarities to Mephone, and it kills him. He thinks Mephone is simply a bad person for what he did, but since he did a similar thing… does that make him bad too?
He wants to be good, he wants so desperately to think he’s a good person, that he isn’t like Mephone! That he’s better! But I theorize he’ll only fail and make himself feel worse and worse. That he’s going to be following the same path as Mephone..
nova thinks she’s a little weird. but she shouldn’t take that personally, nova isn’t what people would ever consider “human” and she’s only using this form to mimic human physique but there are some people who stand out to her. i think she definitely thinks she’s more on the odd side, probably even someone who could see through her charade
i just love how, even though Zayne is a man of medicine and research, he leaves room for so much artistry and whimsy in his mind? Like, sure, he's a man of logic and reason, of science, but never does he even hint that he finds imagination or creativity "impractical."
And he not only allows himself to think outside the box, he enjoys being in a headspace where he daydreams that he and his beloved are penguins and snowmen in their own world... and i think that's one of the many reasons he's such a great doctor and person to love
Sylus being an avid collector (weapons, cars, jewels, etc) is actually so perfect for when he has kids because he would know how exactly to properly memorialize and display everything they'd ever bring him.
For his creative child's drawings, paper crafts, sculptures, Sylus would get everything properly framed or shadowboxed. He’d invest in archival-safe materials and a rotating gallery on his bedroom wall, so every creation was treated like the proper piece of art it was.
For his scientific child's shark's teeth, rocks, flowers, and homemade telescopes, Sylus would build a display case to put everything in. They'd be temperature controlled with light sensitivity to keep each piece in tact with tiny brass plaques he'd have engraved for each new addition. He'd also make sure his kid had high-quality leather bound notebooks for record keeping, constellation charts, and moon maps.
For his tinkering child, Sylus would design an entire work bench identical to his that would house disassembled clocks, drones, and other small household machines. And you can bet that every gadget his child creates is being used for its intended purpose throughout the base, even the little mechanical beetle Mephisto is ordered not to eat (again).
But no matter who that child is or what they find or create, they'd always know that whatever they bring him, Sylus would appreciate it as if it were the most important thing in the world. He would love it, admire it, and see it for what it was because he saw the beauty in its creator. Which, at the end of the day, is what a true collector will always value.
