on the second week of august, in 2012, first ground was broken on the project that would, two years later, become forks university. its origins may one day become the stuff of legend, with an anonymous donor whose money came from a ghost account, and the plants for the project mailed without a signature ─ the mayor at the time was too enthused by the grandiosity of it all, at such a low cost to the town coffers and at great benefit to the people. when it was completed, not only had the building of the campus created new jobs but soon came people who put money back into the town, be it through housing, materials and, eventually, the settling in of new businesses. the building of the university would come to represent a gift to the town and it would only grow over the ten years of its founding. it is such that on the anniversary of the university's opening, its dean, jung eunjae, and the city mayor decided on an ambitious project to celebrate. the anniversary celebrations will begin on the 11th of august, on a sunday. on the dean's own great backyard on university grounds, she decided to invite all those willing to join her in a game of mini golf. the dean jae, an aficcionado of the game, expanded her personal course to add challenges and, at the end of the day, the person who emerges as victor is to gain a trophy along with a coupon for spending around the businesses in town. from monday to saturday, the town will host a fair between the main town square and the university campus. for the week, students of forks university have been called back to campus to celebrate along with the locals and both are allowed to roam freely between locations. while around the campus, stalls with all kinds of games ─ such as ring toss, darts, a dunk tank and more throwing games, a guessing booth, a face painting station and a tattoo parlor pop - up ─ run from morning to the early evenings, so do the business stalls around town square, which offer trinkets from each of their shops in exchange for the tickets won at the games on campus. on friday, the 16th of august, the major will take over the reins of the celebration by hosting a fishing contest on the hoh river; the one with the biggest fish by the end of the day will receive a trophy and a cash prize, besides well - coveted bragging rights. one last gift is in store for the winners of both the mini golf tournament and the fishing contest as, on the last day of the celebrations, 17th of august, the town will be hosting a parade, all of the business owners, as well as the mayor, chief swan and dean jean, with a selected number of students as well as the winners will have their own parade float to go around the town in.
