Voice Japan Remake Eps 8 Review
When you think the Japan remake is less brutal, then you get a scene of how Ishikawa Toru (Shim Dae Shik) caused the death of a person accidentally like.......wow, an iron bar pierced through the body!
Anyway, I still love how they reconstruct some murders from the original. The death of Uesugi (Nam Sang Tae) for example. Forensic doctor in the original is horrible because they could conclude that someone hanging on the tree with stomach being stabbed as suicide! From what I use to watch in American procedural shows, a forensic doctor could distinguish the cause of death whether it was an organ being stabbed or out of breath due to being strangled. And we saw Nam Sang Tae died because Taegu stabbed him! The remake, however, simply made Shizuku (Taegu) smacked Uesugi’s head using kettlebell ‘til death as he uses to do. The damage in the head is the cause of death then he throws the corpse out of balcony as if Uesugi jumped by himself in suicide.
The original still wins the aesthetic, throws the logic of how Taegu ever could enter Kwonjoo’s apartment like a ghost but keep admiring how beautiful the actor acting in that scene. But the remake isn’t less smart, when Shizuku was visiting Hikari (Kwonjoo), he played a high-frequency sound noise to weaken her for an attack from behind! And don’t expect any romantic or sexual feeling he subtly holds for her like in the original. No gift, no hand caressing her pillow, and no admiring her picture. He even has been ready to kill her in this episode!
I also like they made Hongo Holdings as a construction service, not public transport. You know there is a lot of corruption involving procurement, especially in construction. And there are so many subcontractors too which Uesugi can involve. Tbh, the eps of a bus accident in the original is my least favorite rescue like... the accident itself is WTF? Driving through a shortcut alone (other vehicles didn’t go through there!) and then comin’ across the unlucky stone???? And it’s less thrilling. Well, imagine what chaos would be if the accident happened on the highway, a streak accident involving many vehicles, but this would be amazing if the original chose it. In this remake, however, a tunnel collapse accident occurred at a subway station expansion site and then a gas leak. That’s cool and I prefer this.
Shizuku’s basement btw.... it gives me Kaneki’s vibe than Taegu haha. If Taegu has many sizes of kettlebell in his torture room, Shizuku has various shapes of kettlebell.

Yo! I saw that too. Whether it would be a good remake or not, if anybody shared the screencap and/or gifset here, I’d still love to reblog and collect it to this blog.
FYI, it’ll be aired in Japan on July 13, 2019. Normally Japanese drama has lesser episodes than Korean so few filler cases must be discarded like how they remade TVN Signal. But what I love from Japanese drama is they don’t drag the story, so the main case about Mo Taegu would be solved shortly. They also tend to solve one case in one episode.
