I was wondering if you had more thoughts you'd like to share about your jimmy timmy swap au, i really like the ideas you had :)
+ either way, would it be okay if i wrote something based on that concept? With credit of course
Ahhh I'm glad you like them!! And of course it would be okay I'd absolutely LOVE to see it, so if you do please let me know!!
I can't say I have a lot, as I was focused on other things lately, but I did plan to come back to developing them as soon as I finish a few of my priority projects. The stuff I can say off the top of my head are mainly expansions of what has already been posted before, but maybe you'll something that would interest you:
• It's hard to imagine Jimmy without his genius, but he'd probably act a little bit like when his intelligence was taken away in the original show. I say 'little bit' because from what I remember he was never shown "normal" (in Normal Boy the Brain Drain settings was on "drool monkey" and I don't remember any other episode besides PH3, of which accuracy I'm not sure about either, so.. yeah). I think he would be a bit more naive and driven by emotions because he has less critical thinking skills. He means well most of the time, but he's terrible at reading social clues which makes him seem arrogant at times (not that he isn't a few other times, though I'd say it happens mostly when he's defensive). I think he's quite stiff around people in general. But I will delve into his personality in the future because for now it's just a few strings that I've messingly tangled together
• As for Jimmy's interests, I think I want to leave the automotive industry, baking/confectionery (the candies and ice-cream? His mom's pies? Do you see my vision? Actually he might be into food science in general when I think of it) and/or veterinary (because of Goddard). However, I also thought that while og Timmy is more interested in superheroes and action (comics and video games), swap Jimmy could be more into spies and puzzles/mystery (movies and books) to which swap Timmy definitely has no patience for. Actually, since apparently og Timmy's into drawing, swap Jimmy could be into writing, too!
• Original Jimmy is more "I want to know how that works, experience working on it and by the end I might get a cool bonus" while swap Timmy is just "I want to jump straight to results". Basically Jimmy likes the process alone and for it to be neat and organized, while Timmy doesn't care that much and refuses to do it properly even if it were safer because he might just find a faster way instead. Not only that, he refuses to do notes and trusts his forgetful mind, and he often fails at coding as he may or may not have undiagnosed dysgraphia/dyslexia. Another difference is that people usually don't understand Jimmy because he talks scientist talk, and even if swap Timmy doesn't do that, others still don't understand him because he uses shortcuts for his very own thoughts and assumes people can read his mind.
• The excuse that Goddard is a robot dog came from Timmy, of course. Besides guessing that Jimmy's backpack can transform into a dog, he often reminds Jimmy that no one will believe he is anything but a robot because of his synthetic-looking fur (fairy fur simply looks/feels a bit different) But he also admits that he hides his genius himself to avoid being called a nerd because he knows there are consequences when even one powerful invention falls into the wrong hands
• Remember how in the first power hour their entire meeting was a domino effect because of a school project? Something like this happened here too. I think the wish Jimmy made was something like "I wish to see the inventions of the greatest (preferably living) mind that has not yet been discovered!" after reading that most talented/smart people were only cherished after their death (Whether Goddard poofed him to someone his age on purpose cus he has little to no friends or was it a coincidence is up to you to decide)
• Their universes are still very different. I want to draw how they look like some day but for reference for now let's say Timmy's universe looks more like a new wish while Jimmy's looks like some of the official comics. Basically it's modern 3d/older 2d instead of modern 2d/older 3d.
• If I do decide to make Goddard an actual fairy I have been thinking about making him selectively mute. Really not sure about this one though
• I've also thought about putting someone in Remy's role for a while now, but the obvious choice (Eustace) doesn't seem to be suitable for a potential godchild (doesn't seem redeemable nor outright miserable) and while I'm not saying it's impossible, I just want to experiment a little more. Unless we go the finders keepers godpet route and someone will end up stuck with him anyway, but I doubt that. I actually considered giving Cindy a godparent later instead, even if that would clash a bit with my original idea for her but I think I need to rewatch both shows because otherwise I will never decide on anything at all.
Besides that.. I have been also thinking about giving them grown up designs, and maybe a few hypothetical ones for Goddard's fairy form. I have also been thinking about other swapped nicktoons. OHH also I wanted to do a silly lil comic where they meet their originals:D yeah I have planned to do A LOT with these guys so you'll see them again someday for sure!
