Russia is pressing ahead with a new nuclear missile that it claims to be a renewed effort to reinforce the country's missile defense systems. This happens after Russia asks the U.S. to share information regarding its newly proposed missile defense system. After the leaders of the U.S. determined it was not in their nations best interest to share such vital information with Moscow, the new intercontinental ballistic missile was set forward by Russia to bulk up its nuclear arsenal. What does this all mean at a time where many nations seem to be trying to revamp their nuclear capabilities or gain nuclear capabilities which they never had before? Russia has the most powerful nuclear capabilities in the World right after the United States, and it seems that they wish to continue to enhance what they already have. There were plans of installing a U.S. Missile Shield in Europe, and Russia felt that it threatened the nation. Russian officials are taking the stance that though the U.S. said they were not doing this to position themselves against Russian, they also couldn't guarantee these American missiles wouldn't be used against Russian targets. The State Department and the Pentagon remain committed to bringing the Russians back to the negotiating table, and attempt to find common ground between these two high powered nuclear states.

With tensions between the United States and Iran increasing over the latter's nuclear tension, everyone is curious as to what will develop as these nations move forward. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, says that his biggest worry is that Iran will miscalculate the resolve of the United States. The espionage efforts of the U.S. were uncovered when Iran was able to intercept one of its spy drones. When asked how the U.S. plans on gathering information on what the Middle Eastern nation is doing, Dempsey simply said that there are a variety of means upon which the U.S. is still gathering information on Iran. Nations all across the globe are on edge about what Iran plans on doing, and everyone has pondered on what Israel's next move may be to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons. However, U.S. Intelligence continues to exchange information with Israel, and just hopes that Israeli officials do not act without notifying the West. As the Pentagon continues to review its options with how to handle Iran, officials have made it clear that capability and intent are two different matters; and that these are being heavily weighed in determining what the next move on the end of the U.S. will be.
