The Nuranang Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a 100-foot cascade & most of the people don't know about it. It’s the very definition of a hidden gem! As it is near to jang Town, it is also called as Jang Falls. The waterfall originates from the Nuranang River, over the slopes of the mighty Sela Pass, which is a tributary of the Tawang River.  The Legend of Nuranang Falls: According to popular legend the falls are named after a Monpa girl called Nura. Nura helped a soldier named Jaswant Singh Rawat in the 1962 Sino-Indian War to avoid capture by Chinese Forces.  So, as an ode to her bravery, the locals named the waterfalls ‘Nuranang’ after her!  If you’re heading up to Tawang on a road trip, I would highly recommend adding this waterfall as a pit stop. That girl with Red umbrella... In my last post from where I jumped to reach here so close to the Nuranang Water fall left my fellow mates breathless. I was so much in those wild and I took bit long path as it was crossing all the wild jungle...because I wanted to see that fall from far off and was possible only if I would have taken that rough off route. Messing with muddy path and thorns rubbing my shoulders leaving marks of memory to last for few more days. 😀 And when I reached that perfect spot where water fall was so clear and tempted me to go more near. And this this pic. I often carry colorful umbrella to get more attention in lenses that click my moments in mountains. The beauty is still flowing but the reality is coming closer to the dark changes. Almost after a decade the Nuranang Waterfalls (also known as Jang Waterfalls on Nuranang river) supply very less water to Tawang river due to less snowfall as well as Precipitation in Sela pass area. The reason is none other than Climate Change.
