Last night, Sandy was the charge nurse. I came to her about "drowning" in my assignment. She offered me help and medicated one of my patients, and then she called me on the phone trying to make a joke, 'Ava, how are you doing?' I replied, 'Sandy, I'm just trying to catch up.' Sandy replied, "So, you're getting an admission... I'm joking." I couldn't even laugh, I was so overwhelmed, but we ended up laughing over the phone about that fact that I couldn't laugh, ironically. 😀 She also asked me if I had eaten dinner and I said not yet, so she ended up buying my last dinner as a 9T nurse and wrote, "Buy Buy Ava. Love, Sandy:)" Today, begins a new change in my career, I am becoming a float nurse, which means I will "float" to whatever unit they need me (provided I've been oriented to that unit). It's time for a change, a time to learn new things, and a time to see and work other units. I will always remember her kind gesture, especially when I needed it the most last night. #grateful #foodislove #floatnurse #changeisnecessity #nursesneedtosticktogether #nursingproblems #RN #latepost #squaready
