The Google x NVIDIA Golden Ticket Challenge
At first, I have no idea about Google Console and the NVIDIA GPU until I joined the Google Cloud and NVIDIA community <3 Within the community, I was able to search questions and answers there, even as a newbie in the coding space. As daunting as AI and coding may seem, I feel safe and welcomed in the community. I definitely don't feel lost.
Even though I couldn't afford to add my credit card on Google Console or buy myself a NVIDIA GPU, I managed to learn a lot by completing the Speed Up Data Analytics on GPUs learning pathway!
I love how the code lab contains step by step instructions with pictures and diagrams to guide us through Colab enterprise and it's use. It's written like a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) so it's easy to understand the concepts despite being new to the field. Nice introduction to Colab Enterprise and NVIDIA cuDF!
What I learned
NVIDIA CUDA for DataFrames (cuDF) - cudf.pandas is godsend. It's crazy that no code changes are made to accelerate large dataset operations! I can use it with my limited knowledge in coding languages (I only know java script). Also, I am very happy with the speed of the AI model in Colab (from youtube videos of course) since I am very impatient with "lagging" and "slow" LLMs.
I can use a NVIDIA GPU for FREE on Google Colab! Free is my favourite F word (although Google Colab is not free for me)! The free NVIDIA GPU in Google Colab makes me want to break my bank for my non-existent money!
I love how Colab doesn't require any installation on my already dying laptop (500 GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and i5 CPU). I can just code on my browser and easily share the notebook to my peers (without downloading the file)!
What's next
I can't wait to use Google Colab on my hackathon projects! With the speed of a NVIDIA GPU and the collaborative nature of Google Colab, I am confident that my future team can win within 24 hours! Now I can code with confidence!
