Due to the immortality of Silas and Amara, a balance was created, this balance happened to be a shadow self of Amara and Silas. A human version- which could die. Each pair of doppelgangers were fated to end up together, however that didn’t always happen. Stefan Salvatore was born in 1845 in Mystic Falls, and he was a doppelganger of Silas. Amara’s doppelganger was Margaret Porter, born in 1848. From the minute each each born they were fated to end up together, just as Silas and Amara. The two would have never met if Margaret’s family hadn’t moved to Mystic Falls in 1864.
