Everybody should go listen to The Car Bomb Parade right the fuck now. These guys were at Camp Punksylvania and they were awesome. The front guy, Ren, was climbing the stage barrier to get into the pit, giving hugs, and passed the mic to this kid who was two stepping and he'd give his best screams. Fuckin awesome. These dudes slap and their merch is pure gold. I spoke to Ren earlier in the day and when he mentioned the idea, I loved it right away.

Anyway, of all the bands I was curious about, these were up there and I'm so glad I raced down to the main stage. When I saw him at the merch table, I asked if he could sign my vendor pass and he was cool about it. Their guitarist was there too, but he was in a hurry (as was I), so we didn't get to talk sadly.

Died on this day twenty years ago: undisputed potentate of punk and frontman of The Ramones, Joey Ramone (Jeffrey Ross Hyman, 19 May 1951 – 15 April 2001). Sniff some glue and do the cretin hop in Joey’s memory today!

New York punk legend Sonny Vincent, lead singer and guitarist of the seminal early punk rockers The Testors, here captured after their disbandment ca. 1981 by Gus Gustavson in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Testors were the real deal, a raw punk combo creating rock ’n’ roll mayhem in the NY scene between 1975-81 but though they quickly became mainstays at Max's Kansas City and CBGB's, they were so uncompromising that they only released one single in ‘76. Thankfully they recorded their stuff themselves but it would be more than two decades till their complete ‘76-’79 recordings would finally be released, earning them their rightful place among their peers, the Heartbreakers, the Voidoids, the Ramones or the Dead Boys.

Sonny Vincent has been a lifelong original rocker, always active in his own bands, such as Sonny Vincent and the Extreme, Model Prisoners or Shotgun Rationale or playing along with an endless list of other punk legends such as Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys, Greg Norton of Hüsker Dü, Scott Asheton or Captain Sensible, while he has also toured and recorded for almost a decade with Maureen "Moe" Tucker of The Velvet Underground as her guitarist.
