Girls Getaway to Bear Mountain
This weekend I headed slightly up north with two of my girlfriends to the Bear Mountain Inn. I had no idea this beautiful place existed only an hour outside of the city. We had plans to hike, eat, relax and shop. It was the perfect little city escape.
I packed up my Ame & Lulu weekender and my Lululemon Run From Work backpack (perfect for our hike) and headed out of the city Friday after work.
The inn was beautiful and intimate (only 15 rooms) with a nice mountain backdrop. We got settled, had dinner, drank wine, watched House Hunters and called it a night. Wild times!
Saturday morning another friend met up with us and we went on what we thought was an easy hike. O-M-G we were wrong. The hike to the top of of the mountain was crazy. I don't even know how to accurately describe it but there were parts that were giant flat steep rocks that I felt like spiderman trying to run up.
After a lot of sweating and only one lil fall, we made it to the top.
After taking in the view we hiked back down, grabbed a quick lunch and then went to the spa, conveniently located next to our room. I had a facial and massage and it was magical. After that hike it was well deserved.
Next up was dinner at Birdsall then back to the inn.
Sunday we hit up Woodbury Commons and got some really great buys. More on that later because I'm obsessed with my purchases and they deserve their own post.
And finally one more stop before dropping Lauren off at the airport. Bellvale Creamery! This place is the best. MM and i discovered it a few years ago and whenever I'm in the area I make sure to make a stop. They have delicious ice cream and a gorgeous view. My favorite flavor is Calf Trax (vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and peanut butter swirls).
If you're looking for a quick getaway from NYC, I recommend checking out the Bear Mountain Inn. It was so easy to get there from the city yet it felt like we were worlds away.

We now have our availability calendar up and running and have streamlined the viewing process for our Long Island Wine Country visitors. Enjoy!

My NYC Weekend in Links
Took the Vamoose bus up to NYC early Saturday morning. They are my fave company, mostly because they have a pickup in Arlington and I've never had a prob with them.
We arrived around 11 AM and walked over to our hotel, King and Grove. I would definitely stay there again. It was clean, quiet, centrally located with a calming lobby and comfy bed.
From the hotel we walked the 20 some blocks through Times Square (worst place on Earth) and up to Stage Deli. One open-faced pastrami ruben and corned beef sandwich later, we were stuffed and happy.
After lunch we walked a couple more blocks to Central Park. The weather was really mild, making all the walking very enjoyable.
I made sure to save room for dessert after lunch, so we headed to Momofuku Milk Bar. I see their recipes all over Foodgawker and Pinterest, so I had to try it. I got the b-day cake truffles and C got the candy car pie. Both were decadent, insanely rich and did not disappoint.
We shopped our way back to the hotel, including my first visit to a Uniqlo store. I've never seen so much cotton in one store before.
Luckily we had time for a 20 minute nap and shower before heading to dinner with my college group at Dos Caminos in the Meatpacking district. I was still stuffed from lunch and dessert, so I don't think I can offer a fair opinion of the food there. The atmosphere and service were great, as were the various margaritas I tried.
Our bar spot for the night was West 3rd Common. It's a great space with friendly bartenders, but it was eerily empty. I don't know if that's normal or not, so based on my experience I'd recommend if you want a place to catch up with friends, not if you want to party and dance.
Sunday morning we checked out of the hotel and walked down to Chelsea. Along the way we stopped at Stumptown Coffee Roasters. It's hip but also quality.
Brunch was my favorite part of our trip. We went to Cookshop and I would happily go back there. The best part of being in a relationship is sharing meals. I ordered the huevos rancheros and C ordered the french toast. The ft is served with a butterscotch sauce instead of syrup, which makes it simply heavenly. Oh, and they make a good spicy bloody mary.
Cookshop is located across 10th Ave from The High Line. We took a lovely stroll up to 30th Street where we had to get off and catch the bus home. *Sigh*
