General Assembly co-founder Matt Brimer gave us an intro to NYC's awesome startup community and how GA started in NYC. I was really impressed by his thoughtfulness. One quote I want to save for work purposes:
"In 2008, if you asked where tech innovation was happening, hands down you would have said Boston. Now? Hands down, NYC. In just a short period."
Yesterday was a great McKinsey happy hour and partnership kick-off to our course. Met lots of fun people including as part of GA's Web Dev Immersive, which makes me want to learn to code too—they're learning HTML, CSS, Javascript. Surely those languages will be useful as well in anything I do. The McKinsey folks were friendly and talked about how their value prop is the mindset they apply to organizational problems in all different sectors—the McKinsey way of thinking.

#NYCTechCity, do you work from home or remotely? How does it affect your productivity or innovation?
Hi, if you know no one in NYC. But love to get a taste of the startup scene in NYC. What startup events or is there any communities that we could join :)
Hi! You should start out by joining NY Tech Meetup and signing up for NYC StartupDigest to get your feet wet in the vast tech community here in NYC. I like to search ‘tech’ in Meetup.com for New York City and find lots of great Meetups to attend that are more specific to your interests. You can also visit General Assembly and join their events, or check out NYC’s incubators and co-working spaces.
Of course, connect with NYCEDC and you’ll find out all about our programs for entrepreneurs across industries.
Happy #NYCTechCity!
