Also an epic, choreographed drone light show re-creating the first stories of Whadjuk Nyoongar Country. Day 99 of 100 Day Challenge (apologies for lateness yet again) Holy crap! Can't believe there's one day left to my challenge. The time has flown by! 😮 Nyoongar word of the year KAMBARANG: Roughly October and November every year. The Wildflower Season. The Season of Birth The days get warmer and dryer during Kambarang. Flowers of many colours, shapes and sizes bloom in abundance. Notably those of Banksias, Acacias (wattles) and as well Balga (Grass Trees) as smaller plants like kangaroo paws and orchids. Reptiles come out of hibernation. Birds fly around for food to feed their young. Day 93 (I missed yesterday) and 94 of 100 Day Challenge Nyoongar word of the day DOOKERNINY (present/continuous tense of Dookern): Cooking KAALANG: Hot Recently I've been a little lazy and sad sack, eating lots of junk food or instant shit. It felt good to actually do some home DOOKERNINY and treat myself to a proper KAALANG meal. Not the prettiest meal I've made for myself but the most delicious and nutritious food I've had in a while. My favourite was the stir fried Celtuce/Chinese lettuce with bacon. Celtuce has such an interesting flavour and texture being a cross between celery, lettuce and weirdly enough a small hint of mustard/horseradish. I also made a stew with onions, chicken, spinach and tomatoes. Simple but really hearty and comforting. I also gave Cuitlacoche "Corn Truffle" a go for the first time. I cooked it in a kind of scramble with capsicum, tomatoes and eggs. It was surprisingly nice. Quite earthy, which I appreciate, I love earthy flavours. It's hard to describe. I'd say it's like mushrooms but with a very strong essence of corn.
