It was an unfortunate turn of events that this hobbit had ended up as a slave. Human raiders attacked and pillaged his home town, hobbits were a peaceful race so they didn’t know how to defend themselves. For Bilbo he was one of the lucky ones to get captured. For weeks he was stuck in a cage with the others captures, the humans going from town to town selling his people as slaves. When the slaver arrived in Erebor a dwarf called Balin purchased him to be a gift for their king. He wasn’t happy about belonging to someone but the hobbit was thankful to get a bath and a good meal. After he was cleaned up and was put in some fine dwarven style clothing and Balin escorted the hobbit to the throne room to be presented to the king.

He tensed up immediately. The touch was unexpected but not necessarily unwanted. He glanced back, watching Thorin as he moved closer. Those hands moved lower behind him and Thorin’s lips touched the side of his neck. A small gasp escaped him and he closed his eyes.

Bilbo leaned into the touch, his mind trying to grasp what was going on. What should he do? Did he want this to happen?

The answer was yes. Yes, he wanted this. Yes he wanted this to happen. So he made no move to stop Thorin or his advances.

Bilbo stopped as he felt the hand on his chest. Whether it was intentional or not, he wasn’t sure. But his gaze shifted up to the dwarf King and when he caught his eye he knew there was intent behind the touch. Thorin would be able to feel his heart beat rise and a nervous feeling filled the hobbit.

“Thorin…?”

“Thorin…I just…I wanted to protect you and everyone else. Please…” Bilbo stared at Thorin. He felt a pain in his chest. He had given Thranduil the Arkenstone but it was for the best. Or at least he thought it was, wasn’t it?

“That would be wisest,” Thorin said, “I am sure Oín has told you how rare, dwarven children are, I’m sure both you and Fili want to take the utmost precautions.” He smiled and said, “does your father know yet?”

“Yes, he told me. We are being very careful,” she assured him with a nod.  She and Fili both had been cautioned by Oín that it could be problematic and difficult for Sigrid to carry a half-Dwarvish, half-mortal child.  “My father does know, yes,” the princess added with a little smile, “He was the first to be told.”
