Well, he knows that we don't think that [he's just the guy at the back], um, obviously.....I thought it was very strong of him to say stuff like that in an interview. It's a hard thing to do to just, you know, throw yourself in front of a journalist and go to town on yourself, so it's very, you know, self-deprecating, but there was no need for it. There was no need for him to be like that. He's - he's one of my best friends and was a very very very extremely valuable member of the band and we probably would have lost the plot on a few occasions if it wasn't for him.

i love niall so much. you can tell from these quotes that he totally respects louis and his feelings, but at the same time, he’s baffled as to why louis would feel that way because he’s like UMMM I LOVE YOU, LOUIS, YOU’RE ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS, YOU’RE SO IMPORTANT, ONE DIRECTION NEEDED YOU, HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY THINK THIS WHEN YOU’RE SO AWESOME
