#oc vs reader

You're so good! And OC is an original character, so someone you have a description for either personality or looks, and a reader is typically gonna be undescribed, so anyone can see themselves as the reader! I hope I was helpful :) feel free to ask me anything else

Thoughts/Questionable Ideas

A... questionable side of me wants to do something...IDK... dubious in some way. A sort of experiment that, admittedly would seem like I'm gaming the system, but at the same time I really feel an urge to do it.

Two stories. Exactly the same except for one difference: One is in 3rd POV with a named character. The other is 2nd POV reader insert. Tagged exactly the same except for one being x oc and the other x reader.

The only thing stopping me right now is the formation of an impending headache.

So my new Thorin Oakenshield fanfiction is going well but as usual I’m over thinking everything within it. I started writing it as an Thorin x OC but now I’m worried that’s not something people want. I drew up a whole character sheet for my OC and I made her so different than any other character I’ve ever written. I gave her a backstory which may never even been told in the story. I gave her fears, failings, insecurities and vices. I made her as real as I could but now I’m worried. I love her but do people want OC fanfiction or do they want reader-insert.

I’m so confused.
