I know I need actual references for my star rail boys, but this one here is Wei, he is a foxian who’s been reincarnated 2 times (he’s on his third life) and has been Jingyuan’s assistant/butler each time since the General has lived so much longer. In Foxian culture, it is customary to have children sat before various objects and toys — each representing different careers and life paths — and whichever the child chooses, is their path. Three times over, three reincarnations over more than 700 years, Wei each time chose the same object. As a child, no matter the era, he always reached for the clipboard of the attendant preceding over the ceremony. In each different adulthood, Wei became the assistant — or butler, in some ways — to Jing Yuan, the Dozing General. He’s truly served the General for hundreds of years, most of Jing Yuan’s long life. And each lifetime, no matter how tiring the General may be, Wei is happy and honored to be around and serve Jing Yuan. Even if the General insists he relax more, take time off… Wei insists.

Family: Wei was an only child, but growing up in her village, she was constantly surrounded by cousins. Her father moved to America in 1846 for garment factory work, and Wei and her mother followed two years later when Wei was a teenager. Her parents are buried in San Fransisco, but she continues to venerate them every day.

Antonio has a girlfriend now and her name is Chen Wei. She’s a lot like him in many respects. She’s just as wise and jolly as him, a lover of cats, and she’s an immigrant business owner too, the restaurant on the next street over from the ice cream parlour is hers.

Wei is a talented chef and a master of chess. Her interaction with Arthur Morgan is limited to him almost trampling her in the street.

She had known of Antonio for some years, but they met properly at a late night Vaudeville show where Antonio wasted his money watching her the whole time instead of the show. She invited him to dine at the restaurant, and after the meal he took her back for ice cream and to meet Anna.

47. Can your character draw? What do they like to draw? Do they doodle?

Wei does doodle from time to time, but it’s the same terrible drawings every time. A little frog on a lily pad, her interpretation of a “horse”, and an elaborate flower that does not exist in the real world. 

42. Does your character have any scars? Where did they get them from? 

She has a few faded burn scars on her hands from small mishaps in the kitchen. Apart from that, nothing else. As goofy as she is in personality, she’s physically a very sensible person.

36. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?

At her age, all Wei wants is for her restaurant to stay open. There was a time in the 70s and 80s when business wasn’t going so well, so she had a talk with the nice Italian family that owned a couple of brothels in Saint Denis and business picked back up. The illegal poker games stopped in 1886 when most of the gang was hanged, but the police never let on to knowing what went on above the restaurant, and by then things were going good for Wei. It was not a smart thing to do, but she has no regrets. 

30. Do they want to get married? Why or why not? Would they ever want kids? Do they have kids? Why?

Now that Antonio is in her life, Wei would love to get married again. She was widowed a long time ago when she was a young woman, but she really doesn’t consider herself a widow since she and her husband had only been married a month, and after he died she felt like she had barely known him. She readopted her family name and moved on. But she loves Antonio, loves how he cares for her, and can imagine herself living out the rest of their years with him. Whether that’s in a legal marriage or not it doesn’t matter. As for kids? Wei is almost 70. That’s a boat she has most certainly missed. But she doesn’t mind. Her business is her baby and it’s grown so much, AND the street kids that hang around with Antonio are more than enough for them both to deal with.
