Second Chances [Part 1]

Happy Moments Collection
A/N: To fulfill a couple prompts from @alj4890. For you, bff! A couple months late--oops.
Pairing: Elliott McKingley [OC] x Amanda Bridgerton [bff’s OC] x Maxwell Beaumont
You can catch up here with these two crazies and their journey!
DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S POWDER ROOM
Amanda closes her eyes for the third time, hoping with every fiber in her body she was seeing things. It happened all the time.
Especially with the accidental self-injuries she has caused through the years. The consequences were bound to show at some point in her life, right?
Right, she answered her own question, eyes still closed.
Double-vision. Of course.
That’s all it was.
She took another deep breath and slowly exhaled before finally opening her eyes.
DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S BEDROOM
Olivia sat back in the cushioned armchair with her latest copy of Knives Illustrated. An activity she normally enjoyed in the comfort of her own home if Amanda hadn’t asked for help.
Even then, there was a small chance she would have come.
But the opportunity to help Amanda in pulling off an April Fool’s joke on her fiancé was too good to pass up. After keeping their engagement a secret, she was all too willing to have a laugh at the expense of her best friend’s future husband.
Olivia stood from her seat and approached the powder room door.
“Hello?! There are only a number of ways one can pee on a stick, Amanda! It shouldn’t take this long!,” she impatiently calls through the door.
Olivia shook her head in disappointment.
She had tried to dissuade Amanda away from the world’s most cliché April Fool’s prank of the fake pregnancy with better suggestions such as lighting Elliott’s hair on fire or filling his briefcase with a firecracker. Much to her dismay, Amanda had turned down some of her best ideas.
“I’d still like to marry him in one piece when this is over,” Amanda had told her.
The Scarlett Duchess went back to her seat and tried her hardest to focus on her magazine as she kept an eye on the powder room door. Maybe she should have stayed home after all, she thought with a bored sigh.
OTHER SIDE OF THE DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S BEDROOM DOOR
“Seriously, breathe louder Maxwell. That’s great!,” Drake hissed.
Maxwell put his hands up and mouthed a silent Sorry.
Shaking his head in irritation, Drake turns back to the door and puts his ear against it once more.
A few moments pass as he attempts to listen for Amanda or Olivia’s voice.
“Do you hear anything?,” Maxwell whispered.
Drake pressed his ear closer, ignoring the question.
“Drake?,” Maxwell stuck his finger into his side, poking him. “Do you hear anything?”
“Yupp.”
“Really? Is it Amanda? What is she saying?!,” he asks in an excited whisper.
“It’s not Amanda.”
“Oh,” Maxwell said with a hint of disappointment. “What’s Olivia saying then?”
“It’s not Olivia either.”
Drake looked back to a confused Maxwell.
“Then who is—.”
“It’s you Maxwell! Shut up!,” he bit out.
Maxwell grimaced, mouthing another silent apology before running his two fingers across his lips in a zipping motion.
DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S BEDROOM
Olivia perched herself against the bay window of Amanda’s bedroom, her arms folded across her chest in a serious look of contemplation.
Amanda, who finally emerged from the powder room a few minutes ago, continued to pace nervously around the room.
“So you…,” Olivia asked.
“Yeah.”
“But you didn’t…”
“Nope.”
“Which means you’re…”
“Uh-huh.”
“And you had…”
“No.”
“And Elliott doesn’t…”
“No clue,” Amanda answered as she finally stopped pacing and sat herself onto the bedroom floor. “Elliott...I haven’t even…”. Her breaths became short and rushed at the thought of him.
Olivia walked over and crouched beside Amanda, using the magazine in hand to fan over her.
“‘Liv...Elliott. He doesn’t...we just got engaged...and now…,” she closes her eyes in hopes for a moment of respite from the spinning room.
The two friends sit in silence for a few moments. Olivia kept herself busy with continuing the fanning motions with the magazine while Amanda stared blankly at the opposite end of the room.
Olivia’s voice is first to break through the quietness.
“Didn’t I warn you about shopping for a wedding dress while--”. She doesn’t finish her sentence, a pillow in her face prevents her from doing so.
LATER THAT NIGHT
“I’m out Beaumont.”
“What? Why?!,” Maxwell asks as he packs the last of his climbing equipment into a bag.
Drake notices the desperate look in his friend’s eyes drawing him in once again.
“Damn it Maxwell!,” he groaned. “You have to stop!”
“Stop what?,” Maxwell stopped to look up at his friend.
“Maxwell, they’re engaged.”
“Yeah. I know that.”
“You’re acting like you don’t,” Drake gestures towards the bag in his hand. “Think about it. You’re going to climb up to her bedroom window and hope to get her alone and talk with her.”
Maxwell looks at the bag in his hand, contemplating Drake’s words.
“Earlier we were creeping around her house like we were strangers.”
“In my defense, you said you’d help me find out.”
“Maxwell I meant I’d ask her face to face. Not have my ear against her door like an idiot.”
“I just need to see her--”.
“No,” Drake shook his head in defeat. “This isn’t something someone does just to see another person. This is crazy.”
Drake breathed a heavy sigh into the cool air of the night, taking in Maxwell’s tired features. He almost wasn’t recognizable, not since Amanda’s engagement had been announced. He hated to admit when Olivia was right but the desperate look in Maxwell’s eyes tonight was enough of a confirmation.
“She loves him, Maxwell,” he echoes Olivia’s reminder from the past several months. “They’re in love. Don’t complicate this for her. She deserves that much from you.”
THE DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S BALCONY
Thoughts of the impending future race through her mind. She isn’t sure if the nausea gnawing at her was from the endless thoughts or…
She closes her eyes for a brief moment, pushing the thought away.
“Hey, you.”
She turns to the familiar voice, her stomach fluttering even before she sees him.
Her eyes are greeted with his familiar 6’4 figure leaning against the balcony door, dressed in a crisp gray suit that highlighted his ice-blue eyes.
“Hi,” Amanda breathed a quiet sigh of relief at seeing him. Somehow the queasy feeling went away but had shifted into something more intense. Almost a peaceful feeling.
“Would you believe Winston almost had me wait downstairs for you?,” his tone was light and playful. That confident smirk on his lips that came easily to him, the same one that had been her undoing since that first night, only increased the butterflies--at least she hoped it was that--in the pit of her stomach.
“He isn’t wrong. A proper lady wouldn’t take a gentleman caller to her bedroom,” she was somehow able to think of something to say. “Think of the scandal we would cause.”
“Lucky for you,” Elliott walked towards her, “I enjoy a good scandal,” the grin on his face never fails to weaken Amanda’s senses.
His hands slide around her waist, pulling her close. Elliott breathes in her scent before sighing contentedly. His lips graze past her own while softly kissing the line of her jaw until his mouth is inches from her ear.
“I’ve missed you,” he whispered.
Amanda felt a shiver down her spine at the intimacy. A frequent sensation she had become familiar with since beginning a relationship with Elliott.
“How...much...longer?,” he asks between the trail of kisses he begins from her ear down to her neck.
“...Hmm?,” Amanda tries her hardest to focus on words as her eyes close in concentration.
“Wedding,” Elliott answered in between kisses. “You. Wife. Me. Husband. Us.”
Her eyes shoot open at the last word, suddenly remembering the day’s events.
Pushing away from a confused Elliott, she faces the view of her balcony with her back to him.
“Amanda?”
She doesn’t answer but the feeling of his arms come from behind her and pulls her to him, his hands settle across her chest before he places a kiss on her temple.
“What are you thinking about?,” his chin rests on the top of her head, looking out at the same view from the balcony.
She hesitates for a moment before answering, praying for courage and hoping it’ll be found within the next few moments. Until finally...
“Do you ever...you know, think about the future?,” the words begin to spill out.
OUTSIDE OF THE DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S HOME
It was a known fact, Maxwell reassured himself as he tightened the harness, couples tend to think alike after some time. It was the only reasonable explanation why Drake had said what he had tonight.
The sound of the serene night filled his ears, complete with crickets and the ominous silence that would follow when one was alone.
He focused his thoughts on happier things as he looked up onto the familiar balcony. Thoughts of Amanda. And his plans once she saw him in her bedroom.
There was little chance Amanda’s longtime butler, Winston, would allow him in at this time of the night, leaving him little choice but to climb up to her room. Clearly she would come to the same conclusion when she found him waiting for her.
BACK ON THE BALCONY
Amanda nervously chewed on the bottom of her lip as she waited for the man she had fallen in love with to speak. Anything, she thought with desperation, was better than this awkward silence.
“Please say something…,” she begged.
She wasn’t sure what his reaction would be but the faraway look in his eyes she had seen once turning to face him wasn’t in the realm of possibilities. Stomping off in a fury or even yelling out in denial was one of the many scenarios she had played in her mind but not this, the deafening silence that was beginning to grow unpleasant.
“Elliott…,” she stares down at her hand still tucked into his in a now loose, almost lazy grip. As if all would be well if they were to separate in that very moment. The thought brings with it a stinging pain in her chest as she fights the urge to cry. She shook her hand free , breaking him from his own trance.
“It’s been a long night,” she turned away. “You should probably get some sleep. We can talk about it later.”
Despite her best effort, Amanda touches her fingers at the wetness of her cheeks, angry at herself. She could have at least waited until Elliott had left but her damned emotions had taken over. She barely is able to resist the urge to break into a sprint away from him, away from this conversation. Just away, she thought desperately, trying to create a larger distance between them.
“Stop!,” Amanda looks back at the sound of Elliott’s outburst, and then down at his hand gripping her wrist.
“Leave Elliott,” she said using her best authoritative voice.
“No.” He gently pulls her to him and Amanda finds herself being dragged into his sphere of his influence. One where she could never think straight, where her senses were robbed by his touch alone.
She doesn’t fight it though. How can she?
In a swift movement, Amanda’s eyes lock onto his chest. Not yet wanting to look into his face. Afraid of what she would find, most likely rejection, if she somehow mustered enough courage to do so. She had never been so grateful for their height difference until right now.
His large hands hold her shoulders and he closes the space between them, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“Look at me,” he whispered. She shook her head, knowing how weak she was in that moment. She couldn’t trust herself around him right now.
“Please.”
She stilled at hearing the vulnerability in his voice. It was an odd sound. One that didn’t belong and was all wrong for the man standing before her. Elliott McKingley was many things and insecure is definitely not one.
Curious if his face showed it, she slowly begins to tilt her head up when his hands cradle the sides of her face and she feels Elliott press the gentlest kiss on her lips. And then another one. And another. And before either one can stop themselves, Elliott’s hands drop down to her waist crushing her to him and she wraps her arms around his neck when the kisses become more frequent and urgent.
A FEW FEET AWAY ON SAME BALCONY
It dawned on Maxwell in that moment that maybe this wasn’t his most clever idea. He glances over the ledge of the balcony before pulling himself back to the safety of the vine wall. It wasn’t too far of a drop if, he gulped at the thought, he happened to misstep and fall to his impending doom.
Hopefully it might be a broken leg instead of death? Concussion? And then, he thought with glee, Amanda would volunteer to nurse him back to health.
Maybe she’d fall in love with him in the process. It always happened in the movies. He would be the grouchy, injured climber and she would be the clumsy yet kind caretaker. Maxwell moved to finish the climb up to her balcony with renewed hope, not too concerned with falling as he was before.
BACK ON THE BALCONY
“I love you,” Elliott whispered into her lips. He pulls out his phone from inside his jacket. “If we hurry we can be married by morning,” he says as he sends off a few texts.
“..Married?”
Elliott looked up from his phone as if she had two heads.
“Yes. Marriage,” he said carefully as if he were explaining the concept for the umpteenth time. “We’ve checked off the k-i-s-s-i-n-g part, I’ve lost count actually on how many times to be honest. Not that I’m complaining of course,” he winked at her.
She blushed at his words.
“And I think I made myself quite clear when I practically shouted from the rooftops of New York City and Cordonia and everywhere else in between how much I love you, so the love part has been checked off for quite some time.”
The familiar nursery rhyme, the one Elliott had taught her, the one he would sing to her, began to play in her mind.
She could hear his voice, soft and smooth, floating through her...
...Elliott and Amanda kissing in the tree...first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby...
She snapped her attention to him, his gaze solely fixated on her. As if she mattered more than anything, or anyone else, in the world.
“And now,” Elliott put his phone away, “you went ahead and skipped to the ending.” She felt her knees go weak at the tenderness of his voice.
She cleared her throat wanting to have some sense in this moment, realizing what he was insinuating. “Me?! May I remind you, it takes two people for this,” she gestured to her stomach, “to happen.”
“Tomato. Tohmahtoe.”
She shoved his shoulder earning a chuckle from him and despite her best effort, Amanda laughed.
“So you’re not leaving?”
Elliott stilled.
“If this is your idea of sexy talk…,” he asked dubiously.
Amanda rolled her eyes. “You weren’t saying anything, Elliott. What was I supposed to know?”
Elliott considered her words for a brief moment. The same deafening silence, and all its negativity, came back to her and she impatiently turned away from him, making her way back to her room.
Just as she had been grateful for their height difference a few minutes ago, she now despised it. His long gait was quick to cut her off before she could create some distance between them.
“You’re supposed to know,” Elliott took her hands in his, “up to that point, meeting you was one of the happiest moments of my life.”
“What a sad life you must have lived,” she arched a brow as his lips grazed her knuckle.
“The saddest,” he slowly shook his head as his mind raced through memories of his life before this woman changed everything for him.
“You’re also supposed to know that I was, am, still and will be forever in love with you. The most important part of all this is that you feel the same way...that was the happiest moment in my sad little life.”
“Did I say that?,” she fought the smile coming to her and failed horribly.
He pressed another kiss on her knuckle. “I believe the words you used were “utterly and hopelessly in love”.”
“I remember it differently,” her eyes narrowed in suspicion.
“Details,” he shrugged. “Besides, this is my memory, not yours. You can go later. Now, where were we?”
“The happiest moments of your sad life.”
“Of course. Next, you then agreed to be my wife and I thought no. That...that was the happiest moment of my life.”
He presses a kiss to her ring finger just above his ring. A sight that still brought him excitement and serenity all at once.
“How could I say no? You practically begged me,” she teased.
“Excuse me. I don’t beg, Amanda. I just happen to know my audience really well,” he winked. “Every single curve,” he added for good measure just to see her blush again, which she willingly obliged.
She looks away from him, not sure what else there was to say. The man was still very much in love with her. It felt surreal to be this happy she thought.
Elliott’s finger lifts under her chin, turning her to look up at him.
“Until a few minutes ago, I thought I had enough happy moments in my collection. More than I could hope for. More than a man like me deserved. But then…”.
Elliott’s eyes look over her, as if he was committing her face to memory for the first time. That same flutter in her stomach had started up again and the air, despite the crisp breeze of the night, had suddenly gone warm.
“I love you, Amanda,” he finally spoke, with an intensity she had never heard in his voice before. “I treasure the happy moments I have because of you. The past ones and now,” he looked down to her still flat stomach, “the future ones too.”
“But please,” he hesitated a moment before placing a kiss on the inside of her palm. “Don’t make me wait another second without you as my wife.” And then in a low almost begging voice, “Please?”.
“You want to be married in the morning?!,” she tried to keep the panic out of her voice. “What about the plans we’ve already set for the wedding?”
He shrugged. “I don’t mind marrying you twice unless you mind fainting twice when you see me in my tux.”
“You’re crazy.”
“Just in love,” he corrected.
“Your father doesn’t know the difference,” she looked down speaking to her stomach. It felt strange and maybe even silly, speaking to a human being that wasn’t born yet somehow, standing there with her future husband and father of her child, it felt right.
“So, are my ladies in accord with the plans?”
She narrowed her eyes. “Ladies?”
“It’s a girl,” he said with such adoration Amanda felt her heart burst at the love in his eyes.
“My girls,” Elliott moved to sweep her off her feet as he carried her bridal style, “will be well taken care of. I will be there every step of the way, Amanda. The lamaze classes, the late night feedings, maybe a few diaper changes…”.
“Maybe a few?,” she wrapped her hands around his neck, resting her head against his chest, as he made his way out of her bedroom down to the car waiting for them out front.
“Sshh. You’re spoiling my plans. We’ll have to get the nursery going, I got some ideas for that by the way. I know how to pinterest, too. What else? Oh, yes. The baby shower. If you don’t mind I’d like to have two. One here and the other in--are you listening to me?”
She wiped the tears running down her cheeks, wondering what she did to deserve a man as caring, thoughtful, and sweet as the one beside her.
“Yes, I’m listening. Just ready to be Mrs. Elliott McKingley already.”
His hand came up to cradle her cheek, a look of total adoration in his eyes.
“Are you sure? It doesn’t come with any noble titles or fortunes. Might have to settle for me as your personal driver. Every now and then you’ll have to attend boring company parties. Although, if you’re good, I might be able to get you out of them,” the playing smirk on his lips again.
“Are you sure?”, she countered. “You’ll have to deal with ball gowns and frustrating noblemen. And a pregnant and moody woman for the next nine months. Probably even after nine months. Even if you’re good, you can’t get out of it.”
Elliott let out a laugh at her words, shaking his head.
“I’m sure. Remember? I’m crazy. You said so yourself.”
“In love,” she corrected him before pulling him to her in a fervent kiss.
BACK ON THE BALCONY/INSIDE DUCHESS OF ST. ORELLA’S BEDROOM
Maxwell took a few tentative steps, eyeing his surroundings, as he quickly made his way to Amanda’s bed.
It was empty, her bedroom, that much he could tell.
He looked around once more before settling down on her bed, putting his feet up and leaned back onto the numerous pillows.
He’s waited this long to tell her. What was a few more minutes?

Second Chances [Part 5]
Being someone who didn’t have anything to bring with him wasn’t nice...not like his foster family would have even let him anyway, Zokujin instead focused on helping the others with unpacking and moving stuff, anything with metal he was able to float, but wooden things was something he had to actually lift.
It was quiet but comfortable, this new class has been rather kind to him, maybe it was off to a good year? He felt like everything was going to turn around and he didn’t have to be beaten senseless anymore, it was going to be better.
Zokujin had just set down someone’s desk, it being made out of metal and thus easier to move. He slowly moved outside, he could hear other people’s voices. They were told earlier that the other hero classes would be here to meet them some time around the afternoon.
He had barely gotten a word out to greet them when one of them grabbed him by the collar all of sudden and yanked him up right before the other hand balled into a fist and zoomed straight into his face, the sound of a very loud crack was clear in the air before the rest of the class pinned him down. His face hurt so bad and suddenly that he was stunned and didn’t scream out.
Zokujin didn’t even hear someone walk up to the group, but he did hear the crack as Mikumo’s shoe connected with Bakugo’s face, effectively breaking the boy's nose.
Bakugo groaned painfully, his hand coming to hold his now broken nose that was gushing blood quickly.
The class were momentarily stunned when each one of them were bubbled, quickly being pushed back from the boy and landing a few feet away, the bubbles popping, leaving them to land on the grass outside of class L’s dorm.
Zokujin managed to turn over and struggled to get away from the other class, thoughts filled with panic and pain. Eva rushed after him with a worried call of his name, Space Rocks following behind obediently.
The moment Eva called his name, he huddled together, the ground forming a protective dome around instinctively, he was terrified.
Mikumo was watching them with a dark and cold calculating look "I'm not too surprised Bakugo will just attack a random classmate, but I heard good things about the rest of you and I must say...I am very disappointed" he hissed angrily.
Chava quickly stalked up the other class, pushing her sleeves up and growling out “You! All of you! What is the matter with you all!?”
Kana quickly ran out the moment she heard the commotion outside, the sight of Zokujin and Eva made a sense of panic course through her body as she ran towards them in order to help, completely ignoring the two guys watching her, one in surprise and one with anger.
“What happened?! Zokujin, What’s wrong?! Are you alright?!”
“I-I don’t know what happened-” Eva started, her hand against the earthy dome “He- I called- his name- I-” She grabbed her chest, trying hard to catch her breath before running past Kana “I-I have to go- I can’t-”
Space Rocks chased after her.
Kana could only stare as Eva ran inside, what a way to start their first day in UA. But she couldn’t just stand there and watch, turning back to Zokujin’s dome and pressing her hands softly against it.
“Zokijin, I don’t know if you can hear me, or if you even want to listen...but i’m here, let me help you.” she spoke to him in a gentle voice, trying to get the terrified boy to calm down so she could comfort him.
Meanwhile, Chava was arguing with class 1-A, Mikumo standing beside her with a dark glare on his face.
“You don’t understand, he’s dangerous-” Kirishima started but Chava was quick to interject.
“What!? You don’t even know him!”
“Please, we’re trying to-”
“Trying to- what!? Start a fight!? Because you started one alright! Hijos de perra!”
“What about him is dangerous? His quirk? His looks? Maybe the fact he struggles to make eye contact? Come on, surely you must have a reason for attacking him, right?” Mikumo spat. He had a smile upon his face, but his eyes were cold and unforgiving.
Bakugo stood, nose still dripping with crimson “Of fucking course he’s dangerous! He’s the leader of the fucking league of villains” Bakugo snapped at them before trying to shove his way to the earthy dome that was slowly starting to come down.
Not even a second later, a hand wrapped around his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks.
His head swivelled around to shout at whoever grabbed him, but it got caught in his throat.
“Don’t-” He was tugged back “You-” His collar was caught and he was dragged closer to their face “Dare”
Chava’s face was completely gone, instead being replaced with a skull with flaming purple hair and light purple eye lights that stared right back into Bakugo’s. The flames were dancing tall and proud, her expression holding nothing but pure rage within them as she pulled back one of her arms, her skeletal hand lighting up in a purple flame as she readied herself for the punch.
Zokujin gently touched Chava’s shoulder with a soft “thank you” on his lips before he dropped his arm and turned to the class of 1A and bowed “I’m sorry for whatever it is that I did that you thought deserved a punch, I truly am” being faced with them left his body shivering, scared that they would take another crack at him, he truly didn’t know what it was that made them despised him “I’m sorry you hate me” he murmured even softer, barely a whisper. He didn’t seem to notice the way Kana’s hands slowly grabbed his shoulders in a comforting manner, until she started whispering softly to him that everything would be okay.
“It’s okay Zokujin, everything’s going to be okay”
Bakugo broke free from Chava’s iron grip, but she didn’t care, instead, she was staring back at Zokujin with shock “Zoku, you shouldn’t have to apologise, they started it!”
Zokujin nodded softly in agreement “Possibly so, but something about me is making them angry, and that’s alright” Zokujin was used to it, it was a familiar routine he knew by heart, all he had to do was settle in it once again.
“No it’s not!” Kana quickly replied to him “He had no right to attack you over nothing!”
She quickly turned back to Chava, who was still furious. “Also, Chava, Eva didn’t seem to be okay, she went inside in a rush!”
Chava’s expression dropped, as did her Ghost form. “She what?” she asked quietly, almost in a whisper.
Mikumo spoke slowly after a moment “Ms White rushed inside shortly after Zokujin was punched, she seemed to have trouble breathing” He said, voice steady.
“Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no, no. She had been doing so well” Chava whispered to herself, before spinning around, glaring class 1-A down with a vicious stare “Some heroes you are!”
Then she was running back inside “I’m coming, Evangelina!”
Before any of the students from class 1A could say anything else one of Kana’s hands released Zokujin, making a “stop” gesture at every single one of them.
“Don’t you think you’ve done enough? Chava’s right….let’s go Zokujin” She slowly guided the boy back inside, not before shooting the others a cold stare.
Zokujin clung to Kana, trying to ignore the way his legs kept shaking from the fear and adrenaline running through him. He felt so scared in that moment, the paranoia only leading him to anxious thoughts. Would he be safe here? Would it be like at home?
“You will be” he looked at Kana with surprise, just for her to give him a soft smile “You said that out loud...Look...I may not know what you’re going through, but I promise you that everything’s going to be okay”
A few moments later, Chava re-emerged from the staircase, rushing towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water before turning towards Kana and Zokujin, her cheeks wet from obvious crying “Do you need a drink too, Zoku?”
Zokujin weakly shook his head “no thank you” He sounded so tired, like he was ready to collapse on the ground and not get up.
Chava nodded, letting out a sniff before walking towards them and holding out her free hand to Zokujin without a word.
Zokujin gave her a confused look, but he grabbed her hand with his. Is this what she wanted? Zokujin hoped so, he was very confused.
Chava squeezed his hand softly, “You two come with me”
Zokujin sent her another confused look before following her, wondering where they were going. ‘They’re going to get rid of you’ hissed a part of his mind, but Zokujin shook it off, they were kind, why would they help him only to get rid of him?
A sudden hiss nearby made him jump almost a foot into the air, glancing over at the source revealed Shitogeru, or Kishin as she liked to be called. She was glaring and baring her fangs at them, but her narrowed eyes were tracking Kana with her ears lower and tail curled up.
“She’s been doing that all day...” Kana whispered softly “Every time I pass by she ends up hissing my way” she sighed in resignation.
Chava glanced over to Kishin carefully, her eyes narrowed slightly in annoyance before she shook her head, continuing on with a mutter of “Gente loca”
A few moments later, they arrived outside of a room, the name “White Evangelina” written in kanji on a gold plant that hung from the wall beside the door. Chava carefully pushed open the door, revealing Eva’s room, the walls painted a dark blue with prints of different plants all over. Eva sat on her bed in the corner, Space Rocks sitting between her legs while Chikako sat next to her, speaking to her friend softly while Eva cried quietly, her face stuffed into her dog’s fur.
“I have to go, there’s something urgent I need to do” Kana slowly let go of Zokujin, before leaving for her own bedroom. A serious look on her face as soon as she was out of their sight.
“Come” She gestured to Zoku, pointing to the bed “Sit down”
She quickly handed the glass of water to Chikako before walking out of the room to look for something.
“Eva-chan…” Chikako asked her quietly, looking at her friend “Is there...a scent that you like? something that makes you feel happy?”
Zokujin sat down, confused, scents? Water? What was all of this about?
“La-” Eva hiccupped “Lavender”
Neither of them noticed as Chikako closed her eyes, eyebrows furrowed in concentration, until the smell of lavender started filling the room, when they turned to her direction they saw a light purple fragrance coming out of her body. She gave a small smile at the two of them.
“My quirk allows me to create different aromas or gas as long as I know their composition...or know what it smells like.”
“Thank you” Eva whimpered, placing her head against Chikako’s shoulder.
A few moments later, Chava returned with a bundle in her arms, dropping it carefully on the floor before grabbing a green box and a cloth from the pile and moving to sit next to Zokujin, the boy catching the words ‘emergency kit’ when she pulled open the box and began to look through the stuff. “Do you know if your nose is broken?”
Zokujin shook his head “I know what a broken nose feels like, and I’m fine” His foster family had hit him enough, he knew what a broken bone or nose feels like and this wasn’t it.
Chava sniffed again “Okay, this is gonna sting a bit, I have to clean up the wound of your nose, so, sorry in advance”
Zokujin nodded softly. He was used to this, cleaning up himself after getting hurt by his foster family? This was normal for him.
Softly grasping his chin, Chava began to wipe away the blood, making sure to be as gentle as possible before grabbing a cotton bud, pouring rubbing alcohol onto it and gently cleaning the cut that had formed on his nose from the punch. Once she had cleaned him off, she grabbed a plaster from her box and placed it over the wound. “How are you feeling, Zoku?”
Zokujin nodded, keeping his mouth shut to not let out any sound of discomfort, only managing a weak “I’m fine”
“Can I hug you, Zoku?” Zokujin nodded once again to the request.
Softly, Chava wrapped her arms around the boy, being mindful of his wound. “I’m sorry they did that to you, you didn’t deserve that, okay? No matter what anyone tells you, you don’t deserve to get hit, Zokujin”
Zokujin softly hugged her back, feeling tears start to fall, but he didn’t feel that close to crying?
“I’ll protect you, okay? You don’t have to hide anything from me, I want you to know that because I care about you, Zoku” Chava pulled back and grasped his cheeks softly. “I care about you very much”
There was a knock at the door and Ryogami’s voice sounded out “Hey, I got some hot tea for anyone who wants some '' The divine smell of tea caught everyone’s nose.
“We’d like some please!” Chava called “Just come on in!”
Ryogami opened the door carefully as he entered, handing everyone some nice hot cup “Hot tea is good for stress” he said gently.
“You know it!” Chava quickly got up, making her way over to the pile and grabbing a few items. She tossed two chocolate packets at Eva, the girl catching them gently then handing one to Chikako who’s eyes sparkled with joy at the sight of the treat. Chava placed another in Zokujin’s lap before turning to Ryogami “Would you like one?”
Ryogami softly shook his head “No thank you, I’m going to finish my tea and head to bed. Zoku, I suggest a nice hot shower and then bundle yourself up in a thick blanket” Ryogami suggested to Zokujin.
Zokujin blinked “I’m allowed to use the hot water?” Zokujin didn’t mean to say that out loud let alone with such wonder in his tone.
Chava frowned before turning back towards the pile, grabbing a few sheets on paper and handing them over to Zokujin “Sign these please”
Zokujin blinked “What for?”
Chava’s face held nothing but seriousness “I’m adopting you” she pointed to a spot on the sheet “Sign there”
Eva burst out laughing.
Zokujin flinches back, trembling fiercely "no thank you" he whispered out
Chava frowned, grabbing the sheets and ripping them up quickly. “Okay, new plan. I’ll just take care of you instead”
She grabbed a blanket from the pile and wrapped him carefully.
Zokujin was bundled up with hot tea and chocolate, and eventually they all moved to the living room where Shin started to play some nice music on her stereo. Nobody seemed to notice Kana was acting...weird as she talked on her phone. it was nearly suspicious, the way she was talking so low.
After a couple more hours It was comfortable enough for Zokujin, he was just starting to slip off into sleep before a knock at the door had him wide awake, mind running with thoughts, who could it be?. He struggled out of his blankets, only for a small hand to gently push him back down “Sorry, everyone wants you to stay in the comfort zone” Kira reassured him with a smile.
Outside, Shitae was leaning on their visitor’s backs “what ya waitin’ for docs?” she asked them with a carrot in hand that she was supposedly munching on as the group of class 1-A jumped with a shout, leaving her in hysterics “Oh! You should have seen your faces! Priceless, hahaha, aaah, sooooo~, what can I DO for YOU~?” she says accenting the ‘do’ and ‘you’.
Denki had fallen onto his ass screaming “WHAT THE FUCK” as loud as he could, this girl was NOT outside a minute ago and she didn’t come behind them, What.in.the.world was she?.
Uraraka swallowed down her surprise before greeting the girl “Hello…”
Izuku took a deep breath from the surprise, once he caught his breath he made a question “w-well...we wanted t-to say sorry, to..” he tried to rack his mind for the name, he knew he had heard one of his classmates earlier “to Zoku, we didn’t- i mean- we were surprised- uh...we wanted to say sorry, for the fact he got punched and we...uh...tackled him….is he alright?”
Shitae stared at them for a moment before breaking out into a huge grin “Of course! But I’m warning you guy, if you’re lying, I’ll make you all taste nothing but the sourest lemons for a week, and it’ll be hilarious~”
Class 1A blinked in surprise as she turned around like a screw before springing at the door as it opened for her, only for her to roll on the ground like a ball and fall through a hoop before landing gracefully on someone’s lap “we got company~” she sang.
Kishin jumped up startled and hissed at her, much like a cat that’s been spooked by a cucumber.
Everyone else looked at the door and made a face, the door was still open for the 1A class, they slowly and carefully walked inside the dorm’s living room.
1-A looked sheepish as they slowly slinked into the dorm, a mix of guilty, nervous and apologetic faces mixed in with the class as they stared back at the new class of heroes, waiting for any kind of reaction that their presence brought.
The first reaction they got was a glare from the students that were there during the commotion, Chava’s glare was the most heated...literally, she was dangerously close to burst into flames all over again. Eva and Chikako were giving them a look full of discomfort, Eva had told her new friends about the situation outside while Chikako was trying to comfort her. Meanwhile Kana and Mikumo were giving them all a look of pure anger, Mikumo’s glare however was darker than hers, way darker.
Izuku swallowed nervously, but glad that no one was chasing them out, Mikumo’s gaze softened when Izuku stepped up to Zokujin who was watching them with wide eyes and trembling softly. “We’re really sorry for the way we tackled you...and for letting you get hurt” With slow movements the group standing in front of them brought forwards a cake “We made this to say sorry, it’s an apology cake”
Zokujin looked confused “what is cake?” he asked seriously, only to be met with silence as everyone stared at him with open horror.
Chava’s hand dived into her shirt, the sound of paper rustling caught Eva’s attention and she shook her head. Chava slowly pulled her hand back out.
“You’ve never had cake!?” Sato cried, almost hurt by the words. How could he have never had cake before!? “Everyone’s had cake at one point during their life!”
“The cake is a lie” Someone whispered, but it seemed to go over everyone’s head at that moment.
Zokujin flinched back at the outburst before answering “I’m sorry! It looks pretty? Like a...bread lasagna?”
The room was silent once again , making the boy shake in fear at the thought that he might have said something wrong, but then everyone burst out into laughter, confusing him momentarily.
“Bread lasagna!” Mina cried, hugging her stomach with small tears in her eyes “That’s the best thing I’ve ever heard!”
Zokujin blinked, he didn’t get the joke, but at least they were enjoying themselves? The cake was offered to him once again by a smiling Izuku. Zokujin sighed and nodded “sure...a little bit won’t hurt, I guess...”
With the tension in the room a lot lower than what it was when they first got there, the cake was placed on the table and Zokujin got up to watch as they sliced it into even parts, and to maybe listen to them talk. Whenever someone talked to him, he seemed surprised and would try his best to answer.
Zokujin was aware that a few of the students kept staring at him, but he couldn’t make sense of their expressions, like nothing he ever saw before.
Then the lights flickered.
“Huh?” Everyone looked up, confusion growing on everyone’s faces before the lights switched off, bathing the room in darkness. “What the!-”
The T.V flickered to life, the sound of static slowly filling the room and increasing in volume with each second, the black and white dots drawing the people in to look closer at the scene, almost hypnotised by it.
Zokujin pressed his back against the wall, heart hammering in his chest over the darkness, luckily he’s never been allowed to watch television and thus had no idea what to expect.
Chikako’s face grew pale as she started trembling so much she could easily rival Ford’s vibrations, she was NOT a fan of horror movies for a reason. She was the easiest person to scare. Her father always teased her for that.
Kana blinked slowly at the sight, but honestly, for some reason she didn’t feel scared. feeling like she had seen WORSE things in her life, but she couldn’t remember where.
Eva blinked in surprise before glancing over towards Chava “Did you call her?”
“Call who!?” Many seemed to ask.
A hand slowly latched on to the edge of the T.V.
Shin was paled, she’s seen a movie like this, and she hated it, always felt so bleak and helpless, and like hell she is going to be like that.
The hand reached out further, an pale, bruised arm appearing from the T.V before landing on the floor below, other hand following after it.
Izuku felt fear hold him in place from the floor, eyes wide in confusion and recognition as he watched the scene, helpless.
He remembered this from somewhere, but where!?
A black bulge appeared from the T.V, a horrid gurgling sound echoing through the room as if pushed out further and further and further, black tendrils flopping onto the carpet with a wet ‘plop’. That was a head.
As soon as her torso was out, a sign glared above her ‘MOTHER IS HERE’ in neon flashing letters and annoyingly off hawiian music started to play, Shitae whistling innocently.
The being stopped short, her head moving upwards to stare at the sign quizzically, before a beautiful laugh echoed through the room.
“Ehhhh!?” Almost everyone seemed to scream, but Chava just giggled.
“Hi Madre!”
“EHHHHHHHHH!?”
The woman pulled herself from the T.V, standing tall amongst the other heroes before parting her hair, a cheeky smile on her face.
“Hello, Chava”
Shitae rushed forward, comically big fluttering cartoon eyes and “HELLOOOO NURSE~”
Tying her hair back, Emiko winked towards the girl “Hello Shitae!” She leaned down towards the T.V, stuffing her hands back into the device and pulling out a small tray “I brought cookies!
Most people fell back in shock.
“I think you killed some people, Madre!” she turned her attention towards a passed out Chikako, who was laying back on the couch, her soul could be seen leaving her body.
“Oh dear”
Both Izuku and Mikumo rushed towards her “Y-Y-You’re the Pro Hero Phantom, right?!” Izuku starts, eyes sparkling in wonder.
“Didn’t you star in that one horror movie? How does your quirk handle long distance travel?”
“What do you use for attacking?”
Their voices seemed to overlap, leaving Emiko to sweat nervously before a smile grew on her face “Calm down, you two, I’ll answer as many questions as you want. But first-” She lifted up the tray “Cookie? They’re chocolate chips!”
“It’s almost like we got two deku’s!” Uraraka cheered.
“Yeah, but one of them has a cold glare” Tsuyu stated
“Is there anywhere I can place these?” Emiko asked “I have some other treats I’d like to give you all, if that’s okay!”
Zokujin moves the cake a little to the side and offers a clear spot to her “here you go” he told her gently.
“Thank you, Zokujin” Emiko placed down the tray gently.
Zokujin nodded “you’re welcome” before he slowly slinked off to nibble on some of the sweets they had, trying not to let it be known that he was crying over how delicious everything tasted.
Shin wasn’t one for sweets, but she did pick up the still out of it Chikako and carried her to her room before returning to her own room and getting some sleep.
Everyone else who wasn’t asleep started to enter the kitchen and dining room to eat the treats, Mikumo and Izuku easily talking to each other about their letters and their life so far, and the strangest quirks they’ve seen up to date.
Emiko’s smile slowly morphed into a look of concern, her eyes soft as she glanced over the students “There’s a lot of troubled children here”
Chava glanced over to her before looking down at her feet “I...I know”
Emiko blinked before she placed a comforting hand in her daughter’s hair “Don’t be so upset, not everyone can grow up a good life, but we can be delicate with them. The ghosts help us be better, Chava”
“Zokujin’s ghosts really care about him”
“Most do” Emiko spoke “They want to be there for him, even if he can’t see them, even if they all can’t see them, someone is always watching, wishing they could protect them”
Suddenly there was a soft cry that picked up in volume, sounding like a baby crying, it came from somewhere inside the building. Nobody seemed to notice Chura got up from his seat, leaving everyone enjoying the treats as he headed into the dorms. After a little bit, he walked back out with a grumpy looking baby with pretty pink hair and the most tired looking pouting baby could probably muster.
Chava gasped in excitement “A baby!”
Eva glanced over from her spot in the kitchen, cookie still in her mouth.
Kore rubs at her eyes sleepily and looks around, looking at everyone with a scrunched up and confused face.
Kana could only squeal in a high-pitched voice at the sight of the little baby in Chura’s arms, she was so adorable!
Chura carefully held her as he set onto the task of making her some warmed milk to help her sleep. Kore however was staring at the various teenagers and Emiko in the room with wide eyes and an almost surprised face.
Ford was making faces at Kore who giggled before asking “So, how’d you get a baby in here? I thought only staff or students were allowed here” Ford asked The dark haired male before going right back to making funny faces at a giggling Kore.
“To put it simply, I got permission” Chura said calmly, sadly it seemed Kore was wide awake and ready to play.
“Hey little one~” Kana activated her quirk, creating enough black matter before shaping it into little sparkly butterflies that floated elegantly around little Kore, making the baby squeal in excitement as she reached for the butterflies.
“Oh, oh, me next!” Chava squealed, softly tapping her foot on the floor. Small little shadows raced out, forming into little purple spirits. Letting out mischievous giggles as they flew around Kore and Chura, softly beginning to sing a beautiful tune.
Chura was effectively ignoring the little show going on, but from his soft expression, he must have been pleased that Kore was enjoying herself.
Kore babbled happily for a moment before stopping and staring at something for a moment before loudly saying “Meow” she was quiet for another moment before 'meowing' again as she tried to make grabby hands, leaning forward, no one was quite certain what she wanted.
But Chura had set her gently on the ground and she started crawling quickly before she got to Tokoyami, tugging on his pants to try and stand up as she 'meowed' at him while still trying to make grabby hands.
Tokoyami watched her, confusion coursing through his mind as he wasn't sure what to do. He looked at Chura, who looked rather amused if anything.
"You can pick her up if you want to," Chura told him, but he was watching them intently, just in case.
Tokoyami glanced back at the little baby that clung to his leg before slowly and awkwardly lifting her up. She meowed at him happily, touching his beaks and "meowing" once again before she happily began to babble at him eagerly.
"Hey! Tokoyami, she really seems to like you! Why not try to show off that too?" Mina suggested excitedly.
Tokoyami gave a small sigh, before allowing Dark Shadow to come out, it came to rest above his shoulders, observing the little girl in the teen’s arms.
Kore gasped the moment she saw dark shadow and "meowed" at him too before she started babbling at the BOTH of them.
Dark Shadow gave her a mischievous look before he too, started babbling back at her, and then right away it became a babble 'talk' with the three of them.
Tokoyami couldn’t fight back the smile on his face "really? That sounds interesting, tell me more little lady" which spurred Kore into even more animated babbling, as if she was really getting into their little chat.
In the meanwhile Mina and Kirishima approached Zetsu, who was leaning in one of the corners of the room with arms crossed and his eyes closed in thought.
"Hey Zetsu! It's been so long! Congratulations for getting into U.A!" Mina exclaimed.
Zetsu calmly opened his eyes at them "Thank you Ashido...and who are you?" He asked Kirishima questioningly.
Kirishima gasped "Seriously man? You don't recognize Kirishima Eijiro?"
Zetsu blinked, clearly taken off guard "oh….you've changed a lot" Zetsu mumbled.
Kirishima grins "I only got a haircut, nothing too big" he laughed at the guy’s expression
Zetsu could only sweat drop 'a haircut AND a personality overhaul if you ask me...'
Everyone kept chatting for a couple more hours, nobody had noticed it was already dark outside until Kore finally ran out of energy, everyone in the kitchen could only laugh at the sight of Tokoyami being covered in baby drool before handing her back to Chura. With all the treats consumed and a few people already starting to snooze off everyone decided to part ways, the students of class 1-A gave everyone a “goodbye” before leaving...except for Izuku, he was still standing at the doorway before turning his attention to the living room, where some of his new classmates were doing some last minute clean up.
“um...Rikimaru?” At the mention of her surname Kana looked up in his direction with a look of curiosity, a blanket neatly folded in her hands.
“Yes, Midoriya?” “Can we...can we talk outside for a minute?” She gave him a confused look before placing the blanket back on the couch to follow after him.
“What did you want to talk about?” He breathed in nervously before looking at her with curiosity...and hurt in his eyes?
“Are you...are you mad at Kachan and I?” she blinked in surprise at his words before crossing her arms.
“Well, at first I was, but after you apologized to Zokujin I can’t say that I’m mad at you….but wait, who is this “Kachan” you’re talking about?” her question made Izuki’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, what did she mean by that?
“Kacchan--I mean, Bakugo...you don’t remember when we started calling him that?”
“wait, that’s Kacchan?” she gave a little “hmph” at the reminder of his attitude
“Can’t say I’m not mad at HIM, specially since he didn’t bother to show his face and apologize”
“Kana-chan...don’t you remember us? when we used to play together?” he didn’t notice the way her hands gripped the fabric of her clothes tighter...or the fact one of their classmates happened to overhear their conversation.
“No offense Midoriya...but I don’t remember having met you or Kacchan before…” there was an awful silence between the two, before she turned her back to him without sparing him another glance.
“I have to go...it’s pretty late already, you should leave too”
“Kana-chan, wai--”
She had already gone inside the dorms, closing the door behind her and leaving Izuki frozen on his spot...she didn’t remember him, or Kachan? What happened to her during all those years she went missing?
Those thoughts kept running through his head as he arrived at his dorm. Where Aizawa was still giving Bakugo an earful for his behavior towards the new students, though he didn’t seem to pay attention to his teacher anymore, a look of annoyance on his face after Aizawa left in a rush, the fact their teacher had given everyone an earful once they came back after the quarrel ended up making everyone wonder how did he find out so quickly?. Izuku approached Bakugo quietly after he was left fuming on the couch.
“Hey Kachan?”
“What do you want you damn nerd?”
“There’s something you should know...it’s about Kana-chan…”
Back at the dorms of class 1L, Shinso had managed to speak to Meldori for a little.
"Hey Yuki" Shinso says to Meldori, who turned to him and grinned at him.
"Hey there Shinso!"
The living room was quiet, everyone else had already left to their respective rooms, leaving Meldori by herself as she was sitting on the couch and enjoying the finally quiet night. Shinso had arrived and sat next to her, feeling slightly awkward at the idea of being so close to a girl.
"So…" Shinso began slowly as he tried to find the right words "...the first exam, from the looks of it...either you made a lot of progress….or you flunked it"
Meldori looked over at him and gave an embarrassed smile, scratching the back of her head nervously "well, uh, I flunked It" She looked at her lap and fiddled with her fingers nervously "why...do you ask?"
Shinso felt a wave of irritation flood him, with a soft sigh he asked "then why change your mind now? If you flunked the first exam, why try again in the first place?"
Meldori glanced at him before looking away, a far away look in her eyes. A soft smile made a way onto her face "I...I have someone I need to protect, he's pretty important to me" she said, before looking at Shinso and giving him a closed-eye smile "please understand the reason I changed my mind"
Shinso sighed softly "Just don't let this chance slip by" Shinso murmured gently before standing up and heading towards his own room, Meldori followed soon after to her side of the dorms. Many of the class were nervous while others were excited at the idea of their first day of class in U.A.
Meanwhile Aizawa had arrived at the principal’s office, Nezu, Vlad and Corovo, the new teacher, were already waiting for him.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, something came up at the dorms” he rubbed the back of his neck in discomfort, if Nezu found out what happened he’d probably wouldn’t hear the end of it.
“It’s quite alright Aizawa, we were just about to begin” Nezu was relaxing with a cup of tea. “Now that everyone’s here. How are we planning for the new students to catch up before the provisional license exam?”
“The training camp is not an option” Vlad answered calmly “After what happened last time it’s better if we keep the students somewhere we can supervise them with more efficiency”
“And what about their costumes and equipment?”
“Power Loader is already taking care of that, the students from the support department are more than eager to work on this project” The principal didn’t even bother looking up from his cup. “All they need is for the students to give them their costumes designs”
“I’d like to make a suggestion” a voice came from the corner of the room, where Corovo was standing with a grin on his face. “I would like to suggest a training exercise between the three classrooms, as a way for the students to help each other with their quirks, Think your classes will be up for it?” he turned his attention to the other males in the room, both of them agreed.
“Then it’s settled, we shall give the students a few days to get used to their classes before they all start training together.”
Second Chances [Part 7]
A couple of day have passed and bit by bit Class 1-L became used to their life at their new school, they already knew what life in high school was like, but being new students at UA meant they also had to take extra lessons, their grades were left the same way as in their previous schools, some of them had to take extra tuition classes in order to catch up, luckily some of their classmates were also able to help them by tutoring them, some didn’t need the tutoring while others needed it more than others.
When Thursday arrived everyone was ready to head to the cafeteria for some well-deserved lunch, some of them just wanted to stay in the classroom and rest instead. However, that moment of calm was interrupted. A few of them had noticed Zokujin stiff at the sound of loud footsteps heading to the classroom.
That’s when Bakugo slammed the door open and came barging inside the classroom, he was seething while looking for something...or rather someone as he marched towards Kana, who wasn’t paying attention, too busy putting her notebooks back into her bag, until she felt him gripping her wrist harshly and turning her towards him, making her yelp in surprise.
“H-hey! what are you doing?!” she asked with a small pained wince.
“Deku told me what happened, do you seriously think you’re above everyone else as to pretend you don’t remember us?! do you think you’re superior just because you have a quirk now?!” He growled at her, not realizing how her eyes were wide with surprise along with a trace of panic and dread.
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about, let me go!” she tried to pull her arm away from him, but Bakugo’s grip wouldn’t budge.
“Hey!” Chava was quick to jump up from her seat, glaring harshly at the boy, eyes slowly starting to turn black “Leave her alone! She does not know you so leave it be, stupid boy!”
Meldori rushes over “Everyone! Calm down!” She hated fighting, she truly did. “Bakugo?! Just leave Kan-chan alone!” Meldori snapped at Bakugo, not noticing Kana’s confused expression over the nickname, just how did she know?
Bakugo turned to her, still enraged as he growled at her “And you! Why the fuck would you flunk that first exam?! Also, don’t say you did not flunk it, I know you did!”
Meldori flinched back before glaring at him “That’s none of your business Kacchan” she hissed venomously, missing the soft squeak of a chair as someone stood up.
Zokujin made very little sound as he walked to them, his heart drumming with fear as he got closer, he knew how to make little to no sound after living with his foster family “Um...Bakugo? Can you please….leave? You’re making….people uncomfortable” He says, shivering in place, he didn’t want to confront Bakugo, but it was not just him Bakugo was making uncomfortable but everyone else too, so he could swallow his fear to ask Bakugo to leave, but he was prepared for a punch this time. He was not prepared however, for the blond’s heated glare.
“Fuck off you useless extra! This does not concern you!” He turned back to the girl in front of him, ready to start yelling at her once more. Just to come face to face with Kana’s completely black eyes.
“I TOLD YOU TO LET ME GO!!!”
He felt a powerful hit landing in his gut, it sent him keeling to the ground, his eyes landed on Kana’s leg, the knee she had used to hit him with was covered in a black mass, making her kick stronger than average.
“I do not know you or anyone else here! I do not know why you are so persistent that we know each other but I hate it! Just leave me alone!!!” She shrieked painfully, her still black eyes filled to the brim with unshed tears as she ran off to the classroom.
“Wait, Kana!” Chava yelped, rushing after her.
Zokujin backed away from Bakugo before sneaking out of the classroom, Wittenstein was missing, so he’d have to find another teacher, that’s what he should do during this, right? Find a teacher? Find someone to help? The concept that someone would go out of their way to help was strange, but he was slowly warming up to it.
Bakugo stumbled back to his feet after catching his breath, anger still clear on his face at the thought she really didn’t seem to remember anything about him or Deku. He was already on his way to go looking for Kana again, but someone stopped him before he could take another step out of the classroom.
Mikumo, Mitsaru, and Zetsu stood in his way, effectively blocking the door “Going somewhere after harassing our classmates?” Mikumo hissed, his tone holding more hatred for him than the others did, like he’s hated him his whole life. “Not going to take responsibility for your actions? Or does no one give you trouble cause you are nothing but a tiny exploding Chihuahua?”
Bakugo’s blood was boiling in rage, a vein close to pop out on his forehead by the guy’s insult, but he didn’t have the chance to respond as his teacher quickly arrived at the scene, hair rising up in anger and his eyes glowing red. Zokujin took a few steps behind him, looking from a safe distance.
“Bakugo” Aizawa’s voice was low, terrifyingly low. “Care to explain why you are harassing the new students...again?” Everyone present in the classroom shivered in fear at the teacher’s voice, it almost made them want to rush and sit down on their proper seats…
Meanwhile Kana was still running away through the halls, bumping into more than one student without a care in the world, not hearing their complaining or even caring about where she was heading, all she wanted to do was run, and run, and run without looking back, pain overwhelming her thoughts.
That feeling of pain quickly turned into surprise the moment she crashed into something hard, making her fall back on the floor without even bothering to look up.
“Woah! Easy there! Where’s the fire?!” The person she crashed into quickly asked her, before a hand was in front of her, trying to help her back up on her feet.
“Are you ok?” He offered a hand that Kana slowly and with hesitation accepted, but she still did not look at him. “I am fine” she answered with a tiny voice.
A voice called from down the hall, the sound of footsteps echoing through the hallway before Chava slid into view, her eyes lighting up at the sight of Kana. “Kana! Hey!”
She jogged over to the girl’s side, grabbing Kana softly by the shoulders, her expression holding nothing but sympathy “Would you like to go sit outside for a while? I know a place in the school we can be alone for a bit”
Kana let out a small sniff before nodding softly, but not without looking at the guy she had crashed into, he was a blond and way taller than them both, he gave the girls a worried look also filled with confusion by their behavior.
"I am sorry for running into you, I should have paid more attention..." he smiled at them both before waving his hand.
"Do not worry about it, it takes more than that to knock me out" then he walked away, leaving both girls on their way. “See ya! Be more careful next time!”
“How nice” Chava commented before the both started to walk, Chava leading the way “Alright, let’s go clear your head, my friend”
The two had ended up under a tree near the fence of U.A, the surrounding forestry hiding the two students from prying eyes and allowing them to relax under the shade of the leaves, both just enjoying the sound of the birds and the feeling of the air on their skin. It had been silent between the two for a while, before Chava had sat up, resting her head on her knee and glancing over at Kana with a curious expression.
“That guys does not appear to know the meaning of ‘let go’, huh?”
“I don’t think he even knows the meaning of personal space, remember what he did to Zokujin?”
Chava huffed “Yeah, can’t forget that horrid boy. What a carbon”
A giggle escaped Kana, she had already calmed down and gave Chava a smile “Thanks Chava, I really needed this”
“It is what friends do,” Chava argued, smiling softly “Kana, we may have only known each other for a short period of time, but I want you to know that it’s okay for you to tell me anything, okay? I can tell that the way he was handling you was not the only reason you got upset, so, if you want to talk about it, I am here.
“Well…” Kana let out a sigh, trying to calm herself down a bit more before speaking again “It is a really long story...”
“Okay!” Chava shrugged with a dopey grin on her face “There is no need to be telling me, just want you to know when you’re ready, I’m here. Do force not it out”
“It is okay, I guess it was bound to come out at some point…”
……
By the time both girls were done talking, lunch had already finished. The both of them walked back to the classroom, there was no sign of Bakugo or Aizawa and everyone else was already in their seat. Along with their teacher.
They were dreadfully late, by a long shot, but Wittegenstein didn't seem surprised or even give them a reprimanding look, he just grinned "so glad you two are here!" There was paper work on each desk, but everyone appeared confused, and he did not bother bringing to light that they were late "go ahead and take a seat" he pauses. I feel like I am forgetting something....oh well, if it was important I would have remembered."
The both of them hurried to their seats, that’s when their teacher started explaining their class work, at least he was thorough with explaining the homework.
~The next day~
Corovo had woken them up somewhat early and shuffled them out after they had gotten ready. They were not sure where they were going, or why the classes 1-A and 1-B were coming with, and in their hero suits no less.
The buses were beginning to get full, but Iida had noticed the late class and their lack of hero costumes, none of them were dressed for the USJ at all, how lazy.
Iida came up to them “Where are your costumes? We are supposed to be training together, you should be wearing the proper hero equipment!” He asked them, only to be met with confused and puzzled expressions.
“What the fuck do you mean?” Joel asks, still rubbing the sleep from his face even after an hour of being awake “Teach just shuffled us out here too fucking early” Joel grumbles.
“It’s noon…” Mikumo groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose “What kind of training are we supposed to be doing?” Mikumo asked Iida who stared at them with almost mounting horror, to the class's confusion.
Joel shrugs “time to get the fuck on” he says, stumbling onto the bus tiredly.
Slowly the buses filled up with the last few students, 1-L could tell that they were in the dark on something, but they were not sure what, so they tried to discuss what it was that they were missing, clearly the hero costumes, but what training?
They noticed when they finally pulled into a parking lot with a huge building. As the students were let off, Mikumo could easily see the unease in 1-A in front of the building. He slunk off towards Izuku.
“Hey, Izu, what's wrong? You seem...unhappy here?” Mikumo said to Deku, who grimaced a little.
“Well, last time we were here…..it wasn’t a pleasant experience” Izuku said, Mikumo tilted his head.
“Why? What happened?” Mikumo asked, voice full of worry and concern.
“Well….we were attacked by the league of villains,” Izuku missed the surprise that flashed across Mikumo’s face followed by an angered dark look “but, we managed to get out of it with the help of the pros coming with Iida’s help”
Mikumo gives Izuku a wary look “I’m glad you’re alright, i didn’t know about that, and it makes me angry to think you could have gotten hurt”
Izuku gives him a soft smile “That’s nice, but you don’t have to worry since we’re all safe”
Mikumo smiles back softly, but now the teachers were leading everyone inside. Mikumo would have to say he’s really impressed by it and the different kinds of varieties this place sported, softly whistling “This place is huge….and diverse” he says in awe, Izuku flashes him a smile.
“Alright, everyone pay attention” Aizawa called out the three classes, everyone paid attention as him, Vlad and Wittegenstein stood in front of them, Thirteen was standing a few feet apart from them, observing from their spot.
“Since someone didn’t bother to explain what this is about…” he gave an oblivious Wittegenstein a side glare, while the teacher just grinned happily without a care in the world “I guess I’ll have to explain it myself”
Class 1-L was confused, they noticed the other two groups were pretty calm, like they already knew what this was all about.
“You are going to participate in a training exercise for Class 1-L to catch up with our classes” he pointed at Vlad with his thumb “You are going to be part of a team of two against one group, but it is going to be an exercise to help you understand better your quirks, strengths and weaknesses, you are going to help your classmates grow” the last words were directed at class 1-A and 1-B.
“This time we’re doing the exercise at USJ in order for you to realize where will your quirks have an advantage or disadvantage” Vlad continued from that point “Sometimes your surroundings will be in your favor, other times they will leave you struggling, this will help you adapt to different surroundings”
There was a murmur going through 1-L, some of the students began to study the other two classes to discover their strengths and weaknesses. They missed the door being open as they were talking among themselves. Mikumo froze when he heard the voice “I AM HERE”
The students turn to the voice, seeing a smiling small form All Might, missing the fact that three students were observing nervously at the retired hero.
He gave everyone a smile “Hello, I will be here giving advice while others do their training.
Shitae hums “All Might, i think you lost a bit of weight, i could whip you up something super duper fast!”
Moreover, fast it was, she somehow pulled out a happy meal from the ceiling and handed it over to All Might, but if there is one thing he remembers from the entrance exam was her quirk appeared based on cartoon humor.
All Might gave it a shot and opened the happy meal box, only for a rather squeaky voice All Might toy to pop up with “I am here!” and flexing with squeaks like a dog toy.
All Might couldn’t help but laugh, Izuku managed to sneak closer to them, grinning, then gasping in wonder at the sight of the toy “Wait! That’s an American collection toy! They were only sold for a year! How did you get one?”
Shitae grins “Came with the happy meal” as if that explained how she had a toy that was supposedly ten years old but looked brand new, at least the food was still hot, freshly made even.
“Attention up front everyone” Aizawa said, seemed the interaction was funny since he wasn’t reprimanding them “For this exercise, you’ll be starting from one point and working your way to another point, each starting and ending will be different for each group. Class 1-A, it is your job to collect the various Civilian dolls laying about during your run, not getting any will be marked against you. However, 1-A and 1-B need to apprehend and slow down 1-L, all three of you need to try and minimize the damage you make to the surrounding area, cause not only are the civilian dolls counted as civilians, the buildings also have numerous civilian dolls, most civilians run at the sign of danger and usually head inside, some of them can’t or at worst cases faint from fright, there’s also the few that stay to watch” Aizawa turned to 1-L “Your job is only to get from point A to point B and not to get caught, and the chances of the groups running into each other is possible, in that case just ignore the other group and continue chasing the 1-L student from your group”
“The following first four groups are: First group is Yaoyorozu, Shishida and Kayama. Second group is Iida, Honenuki, and Turismo. Third group is Sero, Tokage, and Onigumo. And the fourth group is Koda, Shiozaki, and Shiromori. These four groups will wait ten minutes till they head out, everyone else will wait for their turn” explained Aizawa.
Momo and Jurota approached Chikako
“Hello again, Kayama” Momo started, bowing slightly in greeting “I just wanted to wish you good luck and I wanted to warn you; you may be new to the school, but I have seen your strength and I won’t hold back!”
Jurota bows at Chikako “I hope we can all do our best Ms. Kayama” really, class 1-L was at a disadvantage for not knowing most of 1-A’s and 1-B’s quirks, unless they saw the sports festival, and at which point they’re matched in knowledge more or less.
Chikako wasn’t going to lie, she was nervous, barely knowing about her opponent’s quirks was a disadvantage, barely being able to watch a small fraction of the sports festival, courtesy of her grandmother’s dislike towards heroes, but it was a good thing her mother told her a few things of what happened. Speaking of her mother, she remembered the words she told her one time, “Fake it ‘till you make it”, she was a shy person, but steeled her nerves before answering them.
“T-Thank you for helping me with this training, I hope I can learn a lot from both of you!” The way she said those words with what she thought was a confident face was nearly adorable, it looked like she was pouting.
Ford had quickly found the people he was to be trained with, vibrating with excitement “Howdy there! You guys are Iida and Honenuki, right??” He was a fast talker, managing to say more words than it took someone to breathe.
Iida was taken back by Ford’s cheerful attitude and fast talking, but that didn’t mean he thought of him as someone inexperienced.
“That is correct, I’m Iida Tenya as you may recall from our last meeting, I hope we can learn from each other with this exercise” he made his usual hand gestures as he greeted his new classmate.
Ford blinked before flushing in embarrassment “Oh! Right! I forgot! Sorry, sometimes I forget stuff a little too easily.” Ford turned to Honenuki “I didn’t meet you and forget too, right?”
“Nope” Honenuki held out his hand “Name’s Honenuki Juzo. I saw you during your entrance exam, you are pretty fast”
Ford grins even more “Really?! I did not even know any of the students were watching. Luckily you did not see me going too fast, when I go too fast I cannot breath and that really sucks, and I am talking too much, aren’t I?” Ford happily shook Juzo’s hand.
“It’s cool, but yeah, we got to watch with the judges in a spectator room” Honenuki replied, placing his hands into his pockets once Ford had released his hands “Though, it does mean we know you’re Quirk, so expect us to exploit your weaknesses for our gain”
Ford looked like someone who realized he had fucked up, but he recovered and grinned “well, thanks for telling me that you are going to use my weaknesses, just do not let me faint.
“Will do, bud. Will do”
Chura had met Sero during that apology cake thing, they hadn’t talked per-say, but Chura was aware of him. It was this Tokage he didn’t know anything about, but should he seek her out and learn about her, or stay and watch from afar? There are many little things people betray when they are not engaged with another person in conversation. However, did he feel like engaging with her?
“Hey, it’s good to see you again” Sero had greeted him with a friendly smile “Seems like we’re up against you, think you’re ready?”
Chura turned to look at Sero, he remembered the sports festival and was trying to place what he had seen with Sero “I think so, it’ll certainly be interesting” namely since Chura didn’t use some of his abilities during the exam, like his webbing.
“I most certainly hope so, think you can keep up with us?” Neither of them had noticed Setsuna had already made her way towards them, a confident vibe around her. “The entrance exam was one thing, from this point it gets harder, think you can do it?”
Chura smiles sweetly “I can hope and try my best” He said, he’s fairly certain he hasn’t seen Tokage’s quirk, but that won’t stop him, and if the teachers are even half as competent as he’d hope, she might be an issue for his quirk, possibly something that doesn’t get stuck on webs or maybe she can make his webs useless? He will have to see.
From the start of the class they were already near one another, so Zetsu, ever so bored, started to grow some flowers from a nearby plant and start braiding flowers together to form a flower crown. Zetsu often did this when he was stressed, and since he knew nothing about Koda and knew very little about Shiozaki made this hard and stressful. Was her hair vines? Could he control it? He had no idea and focused on the flower crowns, but he could feel the stares as he made the crowns “You guys can join if you want, I can make more.
“How wonderful!” Shiozaki walked over, plopping down next to Zetsu “You have been blessed with such crafts, my friend. Your crowns look beautiful, such a delicate and precise handmanship.
Koda nodded silently with a small smile full of excitement, he may not be pretty vocal, but the idea of making flower crowns really got his attention, he carefully followed his classmates instructions with a keen eye.
Zetsu nods “Thank you, my mother taught me” He didn’t say much else, he wasn’t known as a very chatty person, but the silence was peaceful compared to some of the rowdy classmates, and any time they made a mistake, he’d gently correct them and was a rather good teacher for this delicate craft.

The sound of a loud buzz was heard all around the training center, it was time to start the exercise.
Chikako's starting point was the city, a place where her quirk had more chances to react to something. She quickly made a run for it, trying to lose her opponents as quickly as possible, but much to her surprise neither of them both moved from their spot just yet. Curiosity filled her thoughts, why were they not moving yet? However, she could not let that distract her, the goal was to reach the landslide zone, better keep running!
After a minute her head start was up, perhaps she knew she had a head start, perhaps she did not know. But both Jurota and Momo took off after her, Jurota having the upper-hand with speed, quickly gaining ground.
She needed a distraction, and fast. Concentrating on a certain composition, her arms slowly started to release a curtain of black smoke, hiding her from view before quickly making a turn, hiding from their view and taking a detour, that could save her some time.
With the visual of her form lost to him, Jurota resorted to try and sniff her out as she had a rather distinct scent.
“Here” Momo handed a mask over to Jurota, adjusting her own mask on her face “She creates fragrances from her body, so this should protect us from attacks”
Jurota nodded “Thank you, he pocketed it for later use” but, if she can create fragrances from her body, she could just change her scent and for him to keep losing and gaining it, but he was determined.
Jurota and Momo followed through the dark smoke, it was already lifting, meaning she must have stopped making it a while ago, but they wouldn’t find her.
However, as he sniffed the air, a familiar smell crossed his nose “I think I am smelling cinnamon?”
“Cinnamon?” Momo mimicked “Anything else?”
Jurota furrows his brows “Clove too, and i think, orange? No, there is something else in it.
“That sounds like Chai tea-” The thought struck her “When we talked, Chikako smelled of Chai, I- I think that’s her scent that you smell”
Meanwhile Chikako kept running as fast as she could, so far she had managed to keep some distance away from the both of her opponents, but she had to think of something to defend herself, in case they got closer. Call it a coincidence, she realized her surroundings were covered with trash “Talk about paying attention to details, UA really pays attention to everything…” she mumbled to herself.
There in the distance was the sound of thundering footfalls as it got rapidly faster to her point. The noise made her turn around towards the source, her eyes got wide and her face quickly began turning blue at the sight of Jurota heading her way, he was speeding up towards her with Momo mounted on his back with a weapon in hand, it was like watching something out of a fantasy novel, a knight riding a beast into battle...and Chikako was the villager in the knight’s way.
“EEEEEEEEKK!”
Was it possible for someone like her to run even faster? She was not sure, but she was not going just to stand there, her body went into a panic mode, adrenaline quickly taking over as she ran like her life literally depended on it, well...perhaps not her life, but definitely her grade.
Back at UA Midnight felt a shiver through her body “...Why am I suddenly filled with rage?”
It was nearly comical, the way Chikako was running away, her classmates noticed, the teachers noticed, even her opponents noticed it. Nobody realized she was already close to the midpoint, almost ready to cross into the landslide zone.
Jurota had managed to get up upon Chikako and grab her in a mock bear hug, trying to hold her still so Momo could tie the capture tape on her.
It seemed like the adrenaline on Chikako's body was still high, she started struggling against Jurota's hold, kicking and yelling in panic, accidentally knocking the masks off both opponents, she was so nervous her quirk activated on accident, letting out a huge curtain of orange gas, making both of her opponents scream. She had created a stink bomb on accident, luckily the gas did not reach her as well.
The moment Jurota released her, Chikako made a run for it, the panic had already started to wear off...only for something to crash into her, knocking her out she could almost hear tweety bird talking around her head.
~Group Two~
“No, I will not move” grumbling Ford, he refused to take his head start, and he realized it swiftly. All because it appeared unfair to him, "Why should I be given a head start? It is not fair to anyone to baby me” if nothing else he is an honest and fair person.
“Well, you’ve only just started the hero course” Honenuki argued, “We’ve been doing this stuff for a few months now, I’m sure the teachers just want to make it fair on you since we have experience and you, well, you don’t”
"Exactly!" Iida's hand waved around almost madly "The purpose of this exercise is for you to learn with our assistance! We are not babying you! We are supposed to be an example for an aspiring hero such as yourself!"
Ford huffs softly before relenting “Fine” he grumbles, much like a grumpy child “I will take the head start” and it was not much of a head start with how long they have argued at that spot. However, he did start running off, not ready to run at full speed till he needed it.
The Landslide zone was rather flat around the base, and he was avoiding taking the high path where he could be spotted faster by Iida or Honenuki. He was so focused watching out for his opponents that he didn’t realize one of them had finally caught up to him, Iida was already behind him, following his pace without much effort. At some point he nearly managed to use the capture tape on Ford, making him dodge and run into a different direction.
Ford picked up his speed, being careful to alternate his speed with how long he could comfortably hold his breath as he tried to outrun Iida. Ford knew Iida’s quirk, but the fact he didn’t know what Honenuki could do left a feeling of suspense and dread, Honenuki could feasibly do anything.
Actually, he couldn’t hear Iida chasing him after a few minutes, even after he slowed down and it filled his mind with questions and worry, was Iida hurt? Should he return? Maybe-
Ford’s thoughts halted like a train, screeching metal trying to slow down enough for him to become aware of the fact his foot had sunk right into soft ground, confusion and worry for himself, as well as a deeper worry for the others, unless this was Honenuki’s quirk?
Ford struggled trying to climb out of the softened earth, but he picked up on the sounds of footfalls hurrying towards him, so he began to vibrate in place to help loosen himself faster, he doesn’t have much time if Iida is close by, only managing to get out before they could try and grasp him. Ford pushes himself to run fast for a moment, fast enough to get away from them at least, and until he needs to breathe.
Honenuki glanced over to where Ford had run off, a small smile on his face as he huffed “That’s was a pretty smart move” Iida appeared beside him soon after, analyzing the situation at hand before coming up with an idea.
“Honenuki! I have an idea, but you will need to get on my back in order to make it work!”
“Alright” Honenuki was quick to hop on, letting out a choked gasp when Iida quickly zoomed off, Honenuki barely catching himself before tightening his grip.
Ford had slowed down, he ran a little too far without breath and his world spun for a bit as he wheezed in the air carefully, he could not glop down the air or risk fainting. After a moment his world stopped rolling, he could have sworn he heard someone run past him, but he was uncertain.
Ford then ran farther, making sure to maintain a fast speed, unaware when he had missed the well-placed and hidden trap that he dashed over, not touching it by sheer luck.
Frustration was clear on Iida’s face, Ford was fast, way too fast, they’d need distraction in order for him to fall into another trap. “I am going after him” he used his recipro burst for a second time, quickly catching up with the hyperactive guy once again, and this time they would catch him for sure.
Ford gave a grin when he heard Iida catching up with him, honestly it was fun racing him. But, he noticed the trap up ahead, seemed like it was formed quickly, but he certainly didn’t notice the watery area near it, they weren’t close enough for most people, but Ford was still trying to outrun Iida, so of course he’s going to jump this trap and go as fast as he has been, no reason to hold back. Right?
“FORD! WATCH OUT FOR THE PUDDLES!” He could hear Iida’s voice laced with worry and panic, he didn’t realize the guy had stopped abruptly on his chase, much less the fact that he had already gotten close to the bodies of water laying dangerously close near his path and all over the ground.
Ford turned his head to Iida “WHAT?” He yelped as he slipped and almost went faster across the water as he tried to stop himself, not even noticing when he slammed right into Chikako and sent the both of them crashing into a wall. Ford stumbled away from it before falling to the ground and staying there, his face, which had slammed into the wall, was bloodied and he appeared a little too dazed before something crossed his mind and he tried to sit up “Are you all right?” his words slurred together as his world just spun like a tabletop. Chikako was out for the count and couldn’t reply to Ford to his increasing worry.
Despite his previous warning to be careful, Iida also came running into their direction, Honenuki close by as well.
"What happened?! Are you both all right?!" Iida was panicking more out of everyone around them, he quickly started checking both Ford and Chikako for any fatal injuries.
Chikako only had a large ugly bruise from when Ford collided into her, and other than being out cold and making funny sounds, she was fine. Ford on the other hand had a concussion and appeared to be out of it, not to mention he was bruised by somehow being the only one who hit the wall.
Ford blinked at Iida, confused “How’d you get here so fast?” his voice was slurred and he couldn’t hold a steady eye contact, or gaze period, he was looking at every little thing that caught his attention, if it caught his attention.
Thirteen and Vlad quickly arrived at the scene, both were quick to inspect the student’s injuries.
“Turismo, how many fingers do you see?” Thirteen held up two fingers in front of the dazed boy.
“I see an astronaut...when did I get to space?” Ford slurred, really wondering why he was seeing an astronaut-oh look, a bird. Everyone else could only stare at him with disbelief, had this been a different situation more than one person would have laughed at this kid’s answers.
Ford glanced around curiously, seemingly distracted by everything “Hey Iida...when did you start dressing like a knight?” To Ford, too much and too little time had passed, as if it took too long for it to happen but everything was happening much too fast for his brain to maintain.
13 had called the medical robots while the dazed boy asked Iida about his knight clothes and “When did you get knighted?” However, the questions started to trail off as Ford appeared to have gotten tired.
Thirteen turned to the quieting Ford and snapped their fingers at him “Hey, stay with me” the loud sound startled him awake and he looked at 13.
“Another astronaut? What happened to the other one?” Ford questioned dazedly.
“They are around, there are two of us” 13 replied, making sure Ford stayed with them and kept talking.
Ford nodded sagely “That is a lot of astronauts” completely missing the robots moving him onto a stretcher “Are they astronauts too?”
“Sure, tell me what you know about astronauts” 13 tried to engage Ford.
Ford hums “Apparently they have knights” he rambled, “How do they knight knights? Do they have to go to the moon? Fight aliens? Kiss aliens? I do not know...but that would be a lot of kisses though”
Another group of robots took Chikako as well, while it appeared there was nothing broken she was still knocked out. Vlad watched half-worriedly at the girl being taken back to UA.
“Everything alright?” Thirteen was confused by their co-worker's behavior, Vlad just groaned while running a hand through his face. “It’s just…Her mother’s going to kill us…”
~Group 3~
Unlike Ford, Chura wasn’t someone who waited for others, he took off the moment the buzzer sounded. He did not care if it was a head start or not, he would put as much space between them as he could. He was clever and he could solve how much time it might take for the others to catch up with him when his unknown amount of a head start was over.
The constant rain would affect his webbing, but perhaps he could still power through it? Chura had disabled his empathy, feeling his legs strengthen and his emotional connect and feelings vanish. Chura was already making great time with having turned off his empathy, but he was careful to know when to turn it back on, namely when Tokage or Sero got close to him. He did not appear to notice a floating eye spying on him from afar...
“He stopped moving, I think he’s got a plan” Tokage informed this to her teammate, a part of her face was missing, it could be a scary sight to see in the middle of the night “There’s something about his spider limbs, they look...different”
“What do you mean?” “They appear bigger...and barbed?, kind off reminds me of an armored tarantula...I think we should avoid direct contact and try a different approach” her gaze went to Sero, a smirk adorning her face “I have a plan”
Chura slowed down, enough to fully set up the traps for Sero’s grade. Holding the civilian dolls aloft in the downpour zone, he makes sure to tie it. If the wind breaks the web or unsticks the dolls, all of them will come crashing down and it will affect their grades, and if they are smart they will save the dolls first.
After Chura had some of those set up, he hurried further, he made sure to study the map beforehand, before they set out to this zone, and if memory serves him right, he should be at the middle part soon. That is, when he felt their presence nearby, or rather, he heard them coming.
The sound of Sero’s tape being shot was clear enough for him to guess he was close. Soon enough, he appeared from the right, shooting some of his tape in Chura’s direction with the intention of immobilizing his opponent, who quickly managed to avoid the tape, but even if Sero wanted to try and immobilize him again he quickly noticed the trap he had walked into.
“Sheesh, that’s kind of harsh, isn’t it?” he thought once he caught sight of the dolls being “held hostage” by Chura’s web, they were close to falling from quite a good height. One of them started falling, making the young hero take a fast swing, rescuing the doll before shooting more tape in the other’s direction, effectively preventing them from hitting the ground.
Meanwhile Half of Tokage’s body was following Chura, her upper half watching from a safe distance, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, her opponent was fast, and judging by his body language, he was an aggressive fighter.
Chura made sure to keep on running, he still had empathy off and was still hauling ass out of the downpour zone, he was so close to the edge of the leaving the first zone. A large puddle of water rippled and shot out at him, it was a hand, and by the size of it he’d say it was Tokage’s. Was this her quirk? To send parts of her flying at him? He did not want to change the paths from the straight exit from his starting zone. That all he did was bring his spider legs up closer to his body.
It grasped on one of his spider legs firmly and tried to pull him towards somewhere but halted and dropped off from him. His spider legs were poisonous, a venom in the hairs that paralyzed you when it came into contact with you while also giving you the sensation of biting ants all over it, or pins and needles as some might call it.
Chura kept running after the hand fell, he didn’t know what the poison could do in a small limb like that, won’t kill, but it’d certainly hurt like hell. But Chura breathed a sigh of relief as he crossed the line of the downpour zone, now he had a line to follow to get to the other zone.
Chura glanced back, they could catch up with him, he knew that, but…
Chura turns his attention back to the front of him and runs, he’s not sure what will happen if he loses and he doesn’t want to find out.
Even with her arms split from her body, Tokage could feel the small jabs of pain on her limbs, wincing lightly at the sensation, that guy had more trick up his sleeve they didn’t knew about, he hadn’t used everything he knew during the entrance exam, but at least now she knew his spider limbs had poison.
“Not bad at all." She smirked despite the pain before floating away to start looking for her teammate.
It was kinda a pain to deal with these things, if Sero had to be honest with himself. He always liked arachnids, even had a pet back in the day, but one thing that really appeared to grind his gears was dealing with damn webbing. Did matter not how similar his tape was to the substance, tape was easier to handle, easier to grasp, however, webs were strings of pure bullshit and became sticky cotton in his hands, for God's sake-
“Finally!” He groaned, swinging down to place the remaining doll on a solid surface just outside the downpour zone. “I should still have some time to catch up-”
“Sero!” he could hear the voice of Tokage from behind him, only the upper half of her body was there floating “His spider legs have poison and he’s already left the zone, he’s heading to the Mountains, we need to catch up fast!”
“Shit, really!?” Sero was quick to swing forward, hanging just alongside the girl “Need help gathering your other parts?” Tokage gave him a nod “be careful though, his poison paralyzed them, if I call them back into my body the poison could spread, I could grow them back but it takes a lot of energy, so it’s easier to call them back”
“Good to know, Tokage!”
Chura wasn’t certain if he was that far ahead of them or they were lagging behind. He did nearly miss a crash into Ford who slammed into Chikako, now THAT looked like it hurt. However, he could not stop for them and pressed himself faster, he wanted to get to his zone. All class 1-L had was a colored ‘line’ to follow, they did not know what zones they started or ended up in, their chasers knew that, he would stake his grade on that.
Chura honestly felt like laughing when he realized what his next zone was, the mountain area. He had a better chance of getting away, there was not a chance of the rain weakening his webs or to wash away any of his other attacks. Already when he crossed into the next zone he was starting to string up new traps, better traps, he is sure they are getting dissatisfied with them at this point.
Something small fled past his face, startling him out of his line of focus, then more of these...things started floating around him, surrounding and distracting him at the same time, Tokage had already caught up with him and was trying to distract him.
He narrowly dodges the foot that flies past his head, the heel just brushing against his cheek.
“Dammit” Sero laughed “Thought that would work”
“Can you perhaps not throw my foot!?” Tokage was obviously joking, but annoyance was also obvious on her face.
A sweat drop formed on Sero’s brow as he shot back a quick apology, neither realizing that Chura had slipped away from them as they argued.
Having lived a good chunk of his life climbing trees and exploring the thick forest with his childhood friends back in the day when they could, he knew his way around it. Chura was leaping through the treetops to get a better view as he jumped tree branch to tree branch, all he had to do was get to the finish line.
Chura could already hear Sero’s tape, a very distinct difference in the words. Tokage however was harder to spot, maybe he should use that one trick? It appeared like a good idea as he rolled it over in his mouth, thinning it out of its potency.
A sudden barrage of hits got him from behind, more of Tokage’s body pieces had hit him in the back to ambush him, her attacks seemed more desperate, like she was trying to get this exercise over with as soon as possible.
Chura breathed out a mist like substance that had Tokage’s limbs falling to the ground and not responding, but at least there was no pain in them as Chura pressed onwards, trying to get to the finish line as fast as he could, but where was Sero? Tokage was chasing him, but Sero was missing and it left a bad taste in his mouth.
Then he heard it, the noise of snapping branches and rustling leaves before Sero brakes free from the treeline just ahead of him, a look of triumph plastered on his face when he caught Chura’s gaze.
“Bet you did not expect that!” He was quick to send another tape attack “I am not going to let you go this time!”
Chura grinned, the moment he heard the rustling his legs were working to make the webbing as he ran, flinging it at Sero’s helmet, and with it a nice clear and even warm in the mountain zone, that web won’t be coming off easily. Chura barely held in his laughter over Sero’s loud curse over the webbing, dodging in time from the tape attack that instead struck Tokage, who screamed in surprise by the sudden attack.
Chura uses the opportunity the chaos granted him and ran as fast as he could, he could see the finish line! Fuck! Finally! His hysterical laughter as he flopped onto the ground, he breathed a sigh of happiness before realizing that Corovo was standing over him
“Seems you passed,” Corovo said, a grin ever present, Chura groaned as he got up, running for who knows how long straight left him sore. “Go ahead and head on back to the front” Corovo says and is gone the next moment.
Chura grumbled lightly as he walked back, only to find those two still struggling. But, then again, he did put out his best webbing and Tokage is missing maybe more than half of her body “Need some help? Can you guys breathe?” He had to at least make sure Sero could breathe, he didn’t know how that helmet was designed.
“It would be appreciated!” Sero couldn’t help but laugh “And I’m fine, you just got my visor!”
Chura smiles “That’s good, how are you holding up Tokage?” He asks as he starts to help separating the tape. Tokage gave him a smile “I’m alright, just one question, how long until the poison wears off? now that’s what I call a pain”
“About an hour, not sure since you’re….split up like that, might be longer, but usually an hour” Chura had replied, finally getting the tape off of Tokage.
She let out a whistle “That long uh? Well in that case just give me a few minutes, I think I would rather grow back my body, just give me a hand will you? Once I am done my quirks takes a substantial amount of my energy”
Chura nodded “Sure, need a piggyback ride?” "Sure, just ensure not to drop me" she laughed.
Chura scoffed playfully “I would never” his tone and grin said otherwise. But, he didn’t drop her and was also leading Sero back to the front. He glanced at the blood on the wall from where Ford had rammed into earlier, wondering how bad it was. However, when they got back to the front, a few other students surrounded them to ensure everyone was fine.
“What’s that on your face?” Kishin had asked Sero when her curiosity had gotten the better of her “Do you need help getting it off?”
“Oh this?” he pointed at his helmet “It is just some webbing, but I could really use the help, I am officially done with webbing.” he sighed in defeat at the thought of how long it would take him to get it off.
Kishin couldn’t help but reach forward “Then I’ll help” She says as she tried to gently pull off the Webbing, it felt sticky but thick, like rope but covered in syrup almost. But Kishin was thorough and oddly fast in removing the webbing, even managing to get it off before the next group of matches “There we go” she sighed happily, her hands kind of cramped, but it felt nice to help someone out.
“Thanks” Sero said, maybe a little surprised with how fast she got it off, but then she flashed him a bright smile and “no problem” and he felt his cheeks heat up, only a little bit.
Neither of them seemed to notice Mina looking at them with both hands in front of her face, trying so hard not to squeal loudly at the sight and quickly taking a picture of their little encounter.
~Group four~
Zetsu had reminded Koda “Don’t forget the dolls, your grade is riding on them” before he had run off, taking his head start. Zetsu made sure to try and not use his quirk too much, he had a few tricks left and didn’t want to show them off just yet. So he would stick with just running for now, but he should keep an eye out for any water.
Zetsu saw plenty of dolls along his run to the opening of the zone, but it’ll be a matter of time before the other two try to catch up with him.
Both of his opponents went after him. But Koda stopped in his tracks once he saw the dolls he was supposed to rescue, remembering what the teachers said about their grades should anything happen to a single one, he wasn’t going to risk it and decided to stay behind in order to “rescue” them.
“Ibara, please go ahead while I take care of the dolls, I’ll catch up as soon as I’m done!” He called out some animals to help him release the dolls and take them to the safe zone, he had to thank Jiro though, if it wasn’t for the time she helped him overcome his fear of bugs, He wouldn’t have been able to summon them and ask them to carefully take the dolls into the safe zone
"Right, of course" Ibara clasped her hands together, her eyes closing "Be sure to stay safe, my ally, I will be sure to stop the him for our win" And then she was off, running towards the direction that Zetsu had taken off in.
If there was one thing that Ibara had remembered during her immense training schedule at the training camp that wasn't the suffocating gas that she had fallen victim to, it were the words of her teacher, her dear mentor, explaining to her the depth of her weaknesses.
"You rely on your Quirk too much, you do not move when you fight" Vlad's gruff echoed in her ears "You need to learn to use your entire body, staying in one place could 'cause serious harm in the future if you are not careful"
"However, how can I improve myself, sir?" She had asked.
Vlad had smirked in return.
"You need to figure that out for yourself, kid"
Moreover, she had.
Her hair jerked to life, the vines spreading out around her and lifting her from the ground and she was practically flying towards her destination.
Zetsu wasn’t a track runner back in school, but he wasn’t that slow either; even though he had stopped a few times by a stream of water to regain his strength and push on. He could have sworn he heard a funny sound like a swish, but he did not appear to find it after a quick sweep of the eyes before continuing on.
He could see the entrance of the mountain zone, but he had still yet to see Shiozaki or Koda and it left a worrying squirm in his stomach. Did they get lost? Alternatively, perhaps they are setting a trap for him? He can never be too careful.
A sudden wall of vine sprouted in front of him, almost lashing out at him as he jumped backwards, further from them. Zetsu dodged the grasping vines as his eyes scanned the area and found Shiozaki, hidden a little behind some trees. He forced the vines to change directions and grab her, pinning her to the tree she was hiding behind.
With her and her vines distracted for a moment, he quickly ran by and out of the zone, Shiozaki shrieks in surprise, fading a little as he ran and thought. If this zone was easy for him, then likely the next one would be hard, which would probably be anything with fire.
Zetsu ran the distance to the next zone, passing up a flooding midway point and a blood splatter on the wall. He was uncertain who left it since he is one of the slowest runners, but it looked like it had hurt badly.
The rest of the run to the fire zone was peaceful, the fire zone made him feel like he was withering, so he would have to push himself faster, slow down to retain energy, or go underground. All of which had pros and cons and not sufficient time to identify the best strategy.
He had to think fast, since Koda had already managed to catch up to him, there were no animals around him, they would also be in danger in the fire zone. But that didn’t seem to bother some insects, he called forth a barrage of them, which quickly covered half of Zetsu’s lower body in a similar way like Koda had done to Present Mic.
“Do not let him get away!” Koda ordered the insects covering his opponent’s body.
Back at U.A. Present Mic could feel a shudder course through his whole body, just like THAT one time.
Zetsu seemed much calmer than Present Mic, gently shaking away the bugs. He saw that he could not get away that easily and decided to take a more discreet route. He seemed to rapidly sink into the ground, leaving the bugs above and confused as he popped up out of the ground behind Koda and started running away towards the finish line, the fire seemed much closer than it did when he first got there.
Shiozaki's vines once again rushed out, whipping around violently as they gained on Zetsu's form, but he had stopped to face her, forcing her vines to try and trap her and Koda, instead they ended up in a stalemate of wills as the vines thrashed around, not moving forward or being pushed back.
They were locked like that for a moment till Shiozaki’s concentration was broken by the flames getting too close and nipping at her heels, causing her to jump back in surprise, but it gave Zetsu the needed distraction as he forced her vines to wrap around herself and Koda away from the spreading flames.
He turned and ran to the finish line, he crossed it and cheered for a moment. But he felt light headed even as he turned back to Shiozaki and Koda, he needed to help them out and to get some fresh air.
Zetsu helped untangle the vines and lead the three of them out of the fire zone, what a smart idea of the teachers to send three people who needed plants or animals to a fire zone, even smarter to not have people nearby when they started feeling light headed.
As Zetsu managed to get out of the fire zone and breathed in the air, he felt a little better, but his two companions weren’t doing that good, if anything, he could guess they might have passed out from the little air they had in the fire zone, just where the fuck was a teacher?
Zetsu managed to pull them to the midway point where the area was flooded a bit. He ripped a part of his shirt and used the water to help dampen his comrades. He did not know how to help with an issue like this, he was not a firefighter or knew anything about smoke, his knowledge lay in plants.
That’s when Aizawa finally appeared, looking a tad shaken before catching sight of the three students, two of them passed out. “We lost sight of you during the fire, how are you holding up Shiromori?” He asked while putting a hand on the other student’s wrist and starting to check out their vitals, their pulse appeared fine, but they would need to be taken back to Recovery girl, just in case.
Zetsu snapped a glare at Aizawa, he seemed like he had a lot to say but chose not to say it “I am fine.” he bit out “but these two aren’t” the air seemed cleaner and more fresh.
The teacher gave him a nod “We will take them to Recovery girl. You did a good job pulling them out of the fire zone.
Zetsu nodded softly, he didn’t feel like talking anymore, that fire zone drained the last bit of his energy and he struggled walking back to the entrance of USJ with Aizawa, but the moment he spotted the water fountain, he pretty much dived into it, refusing to get out as he sighed contently from the cool water. Zetsu heard a sigh from someone but he couldn’t care enough to open his eyes and see who.
Second Chances [Part 6]
An assembly was called, with a single reporter allowed in to film, Uchimaki Sachiko. She took her job seriously but was very polite and professional with everyone she met as she had the camera’s set up with the help of the cameramen. When she was finally ready the classes started to pile on in lines as she stood next to Vlad.
Nezu stood straight, arms behind his back and a smile adorning his face as he greeted everyone “Good Morning, students of UA, and Welcome to the new dorms, I’m sure this was an unexpected surprise for all of you, but worry not, this is only a precaution to avoid any trouble involving villain attacks and keep all of you safe from any possible threat”.
Many students kept listening as the principal spoke, some of them started whispering to each other at the same time, just to stop talking the moment they realized they were being watched by their teachers with a look that said “Pay attention!”, causing them to look back in embarrassment for being caught.
“As many of you know, we decided to introduce a new hero class, these aspiring heroes are going to be your new classmates, and will go under special training in order to catch up with their fellow classmates”
The new hero class was standing alongside the principal, some of them were pretty calm, but others were feeling nervous at the fact so many people were staring at them. Zokujin was one of the few who was very nervous, his body shaking like a leaf as he watched the people in front of him. It made him feel faint, like he might pass out even, but he didn’t, even though he’s never had this much attention before.
A hand fell on his shoulder, making him turn around and come face to face with Kana, who gave him a reassuring smile “Remember, everything’s going to be okay!” that helped him relax a little bit.
A few of the students in the crowd seemed nervous, a few of these students looked very scary, there was even someone who was a full on skeleton! But there were a few who made lewd looks at a certain someone, Midnight’s daughter was surely going to be like her mother, right?
A few students were caught off-guard by the fact one of the students had been whistling a cartoon theme, sounded like Freakazoid? But why?
An unknown figure in the support department looked up in surprise at the sound of that song, before the corners of her mouth turned into a smile. It was her, her childhood friend had made it into UA! they could finally catch up for lost time!
“Now, for the circumstances that led to this new class, we also took the liberty to count with a new member of our staff, and a good friend of mine that accepted the offer to teach these young heroes”
Either this new teacher had an invisibility quirk or he just didn’t exist, because there was nobody new around...and yet a few Pros were clearly uneasy by something, the students weren’t sure why. Until a sudden gust of wind was quickly felt around the podium, making a few people cover their eyes, by the time everyone looked back at the podium, there was someone new standing near their principal, making a few Pros even more uncomfortable at the presence of this individual.
The individual had a big grin and was almost a bright yellow as He turned to the students and staff of U.A “Hello everyone of U.A! It’s nice to be here, and let me say, thank you Nezu for this offer, it certainly was surprising, I am Wittenstein Corovo, the new teacher of class 1-L” Corovo introduced himself, tone bright and cheerful if a tad teasing. However the place felt cold with the hard stares and grimaces coming from the staff, more than one was clearly distrustful of the new teacher.
~Meanwhile in France~
Chikako’s father, Takeshi Miyashita was a well known scientist and a very busy man who always made sure to have time for his daughter in any way he could, like right now as he watched with a proud smile as his little Chika was among the new students of UA’s hero course, feeling proud she managed to overcome the first step of her dream to become a hero.
“I’m proud of you Kiddo” he would make sure to call her later to congratulate her.
~Back in Japan, in the Sukeruton Household~
The Sukeruton family cheered “Look at him!” Mai sobbed over how Hanamaru looked, he even had his mask off!
“Think the school will let us in to hug him? Ohhhh! What if we BAKED HIM A CAKE?!” cheered Kokotsu, Hanamaru’s little sister by five years.
“I doubt it, their security is high and people don’t just waltz in” Niku droned calmly, but his eyes shone with unshed tears, he was so proud of his little brother.
Chiniku leans against the couch “Do you think….we could be heroes?” He murmured to his family.
Soeko spoke up, his grandmother, kind and sweet “Of course, they always need heroes”
That settled the household for a little bit as Chiniku’s mind raced.
~At Gran Katsune’s Home~
Katsune Kitoma, the only living grandparent of Katsune Tsukiko, watched the T.V intently, after seeing something that made her tail fluff up in irritation she started sewing and making clothes while cooking at the same time “Much too thin, clothes look terrible” she grumbled, even though they were wearing the school uniforms, clean and freshly worn.
~At Tartarus~
A couple of guards could be seen escorting a female prisoner to a different cell, the woman was looking down with a face void of any emotions, until they passed by a guard, he was watching the news about UA’s new hero class, making her head shot up in surprise at the sight of two girls amid the new students, her mouth turned into a mad smile that sent shivers down the guard’s back, specially by the dark expression in her eyes.
“Starlight? Nebula?” she threw herself at the glass separating her from the guard, startling her escorts as they pulled her back, in order to take her to her proper cell. “Wait! Those are my girls! my little girls are at UA!” they didn’t pay attention to her, dragging her back despite her cries of protest.
Another group was rolling a fully caged All For One, he was strapped with a device that nullified quirks while having a guard with him that could nullify quirks by the area he was in.
They passed by two gossiping guards “That new kid looks a lot like that other kid who broke his arms during the sports festival, what was his name again? Midoriya Izuku? Right? Think they’re related?” One asked the other.
“I heard they’re related, but he seems much calmer than the other one, not sure what his name is” The guard with the bat quirk said with a hum.
None of them noticed the grin upon All For One’s face ‘Good work boys’.
~At the Yuki Household~
Yatsume sat there, confusion filled her to the brim. Of course her daughter would pass, if she didn’t, she would have made her leave, but how did he PASS?! Someone that dangerous and pathetic?!
But was she too hasty to throw him out? He was a hero in training now, he was going to get paid for his work soon, right? She could mentally count the money they could make. He was always trying to please her, maybe she should throw him a bone? Maybe it was time he pulled his own weight.
~At the Pro-Hero Celebration~
“Look at our baby girl!” cried Chikara, fawning over the fact her baby girl Shin got in with no help, in fact she was severely disadvantaged.
“Of course she was going to get in! We trained her” Hisho grins at his wife.
“What quirk does she have?” Asked Koji as he watched his son, who was almost falling asleep despite being elbowed by another classmate.
“Oh! She’s quirkless!” They said together. Koji started choking on his drink before whipping his head at them.
“SHE’S QUIRKLESS?! HOW DID SHE GET IN?” He rasped, full of concern for their daughter “Who is she?”
“Oh, that one, right there” Chikara points at the she-hulk like girl, Koji choking for a different reason now.
“WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO YOU GIVE HER?!” he yelped, breathless.
“Oh, she has her own training room, and she’s been getting better at arm wrestling with me” Chikara grins as Koji pales.
“My god” Koji mumbles, that poor class has a monster.
~At a simple dress shop~
Shinja cried softly, her baby girl looked so pleased to be there. Kira looked so determined and happy. Maybe she should make her a new dress to celebrate her joining U.A? That seemed ideal, they may be tight on money, but she did have her skills.
Opening her drawer of cloth, she started to pick out her best, remembering her beautiful drawing of a hero costume “For my baby girl” she hums happily.
~At the Turismo Household~
Nanimo claps with the family, tears in her eyes at how Ford looked, so proud and happy “He’s grown so much” she mumbled happily.
Unzari scoffed heavily “Why become a hero unless the pay is good? So many heroes die” He grumbled as he snuffed out another cigarette before lighting another one.
Yobunna was in the kitchen, chopping up carrots for their stew as her mind wandered to her baby brother Ford, would he live? Wasn’t other U.A classes attacked this year?
Mujin scoffed “So what if they get paid well? He should have stayed quirkless” grumbled the grandmother.
Rimen quirked his mouth into a smile “Gran, quirks for can’t choose to get to leave” he tried to remind her, only for her to scoff and roll away in her wheelchair, what a spiteful old lady.
~The Hitonoke Household~
“THAT’S MY BABY” Gabriel cried, tears of absolute delight gathering at the corners of his eyes “THAT’S HER, JUST THERE, SMILING! MI NIÑA"
Raphael groaned from his spot on the sofa, lifting up his leg to grab his slider and toss it towards his father "Dad, you're in the way, move! I want to watch the ceremony!"
"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO MEAN, RAPH?!"
"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO ANNOYING!?"
Emiko laughed from her spot in the kitchen, feeding another spoonful of mush to little Maria as she called back "Behave you two! Gosh sometimes it feels like I have six children"
"That's because you do, madre" Leo muttered, looking through the fridge.
From upstairs, Santino sat in his room, watching the interview with stars dancing in his eyes.
"That's my sister!" He whispered to himself "My hero!"
~The White Household~
"Oh, look at her!" Magabella laughed, placing her knitting down on her lap "She looks so happy! And look at little Space Rocks! Oh, they gave him a little tie, bless him"
Saoirse laughed heartily, her arm wrapping around her wife’s shoulder “That’s our girl, Maggie! Amazing as ever! That’s all you right there~”
Magabella's face grew warm “Oh, well, I don’t think it’s all me-”
The other woman pressed a kiss onto Magabella’s cheek, feeling her heart flutter at the sight of her wife’s bashful expression “Sweetheart, it’s 100% you! Now, I gotta call little Mikey and tell him what’s up!”
~The Kasshoku Household~
Roreru scrunched up her face in distaste. Zokujin is now in U.A, and it sickened her "How could anyone let him in? He's absolutely useless" she scoffed at the thought of the shame he brought her family's name.
Kouma grumbled "This wouldn't have happened if you had allowed me to discipline the thing as I saw fit" he growled at Roreru.
Aikokusha barely looked up from her plate of food "Well, at least without him here, he won't be sucking up our food" she grunted as she ate a chicken leg eagerly.
Akairo glanced at his parents "but won't he be making money now? Serious money" that made the family go quiet, scheming.
Kocho watched the TV, as close to the TV as allowed and murmured softly to herself "big brother is a hero now" she watched as another girl comforted her big brother and her eyes sparkled, big brother was making friends! Kocho hoped she could meet them too one day.
~At the League~
The silence of the shock filled the room, they actually made it in? But Toga's attention was somewhere else, her laughter distracting everyone else in the hideout.
"Hey Shigi, when did you become a hero, eh?" They turned to where she was pointing and quickly realized what she was talking about. There in the new group of aspiring heroes, was a boy, he looked dead on like Shigaraki, maybe a little younger. He was being comforted by a girl standing beside him.
"Huh, you got family?" Spinner asked curiously.
Shigaraki could only shake his head numbly "None that I’m aware of" he mumbled, scratching his neck in irritation while trying to rack his brain for some answer, anything, but nothing came to him.
"If he is related to you, maybe you could recruit him?" Magne suggested calmly.
Silence reigned over as Shigiraki stared at the screen, thinking deeply.
~After the Ceremony~
None of the new students could catch up with their new teacher, he was gone much too quickly for them to catch up. Some of the U.A students gave the new students a warm welcome or avoided them like the plague.
Hanamaru was often avoided for his scary appearance, so he got the chance to view others mill about. He swore he saw one of the teachers trade phones with the reporter, but he wasn’t too certain, and it wasn’t his business to know what they did in their lives, so who cared?
Midnight helped Chikako out when too many boys tried to badger her for her number. sending those poor boys a glare so cold it would seem like she had an ice quirk instead.
Mineta tried bothering the new girls, but Aizawa had quickly dealt with his unruly student, wrapping him up and leaving him hanging from a tree, out of the way from harassing any other female students, the teacher was unaware when three other students showed up with bats and blindfolds, heading towards the confused boy “Pinata!~”
Finally, when the ceremony was over and it was time for everyone to leave, no one noticed a beaten up mineta being dragged out by his fellow classmates.
~The next day~
Today class 1-L was to officially meet their teacher, Wittenstein Corovo, they saw him yesterday, but never actually had the chance to talk to him. The bell had rung a solid ten minutes again and still no sign of Wittenstein.
At this point, several of the students may have been thinking of getting another teacher to find their missing teacher when the door opened and Wittenstein came in, grinning like he was yesterday “Sorry about that class! A black cat crossed my path, so I had to take the long way” but he was wearing a familiar pair of glasses.
“Why is it so dim in here? Turn on the light-” he tripped over nothing and half way to his desk, slipping like he was in a cartoon and papers flying everywhere.
He gets up, looking disheveled and surprised, even confused “What just happened?”
The door, which was wide open now, made a scowling Present Mic, sans his iconic glasses, stroll in and snatch back the glasses from Wittenstein before storming back out, Wittenstein was quiet for a moment before speaking up.
“What’s his problem?...and who is he anyway?” the collective groans from the classroom could be heard all the way to class 1-A.
Wittenstein dusted himself off before looking around “Well….seems I lost my paperwork...so I guess we can do a classroom activity instead” He said as the classroom eyed the paper that was now surrounding Wittenstein on the ground.
“So, for a classroom activity, we can pick out a class president and class deputy” That seemed to focus their attention back onto him and away from the sudden mess behind him.
“Now, for class president, it’ll either be voting, or common sense and stress, we can’t have a complete idiot or coward leading, but you must want this position too” he gave them another smile followed by a tilt of his head.
“Now, some of you may not feel like you’re fit for the role, or may not want it at all, SO! if any of you have a suggestion, please raise your hand!” Corovo gave them an example, raising one of his limbs high towards the ceiling.
The classroom fell into silence, some of the students were looking away, clearly uncomfortable at the idea of leading all these people, some were unsure if they wanted to suggest taking over the role themselves, it would probably not be allowed anyways.
“One more thing, You’re not allowed to vote for yourselves!”
...Of course he’d say that, was this teacher some kind of mind reader?!
“Why, you may wonder? It’s simple really! Part of being a hero it’s about teamwork, sometimes you have to rely on your fellow teammates. Now, any suggestion….anyone?”
Silence reigned over the room for another minute, until Chikako shyly raised her hand.
“Yes Kayama? would you like to take over as class president?” She shook her head quickly.
“Actually...I’d like to nominate Eva, she did pretty well during the entrance exam, and her quick thinking helped us...maybe she’d like to consider the idea?”
Some of the students turned to look at Eva, the girl in question jumping in surprise before slowly beginning to sink into her seat, her hands grabbing her hair and tugging slightly.
“I...uh…” Space Rocks sat up, placing his head on her lap in a comforting manner “...I appreciate the thought, but I don’t think I would be cut out for that position, sir”
Another hand went up into the air, slow and shaky, not used for any kind of attention even when he brought it onto himself.
"Yes Shimura? Would you like to try out for class president?" Asked Wittgenstein.
Zokujin shook his head fast "no….I just want to...nominate Midoriya, he didn't back down….or break down from the….misunderstanding with class 1-A, if anything he was fast to defend…"
Two more hands shot up, Shiromori Zetsu and Akatani Mitsaru.
"I would also like to nominate Midoriya" Zetsu said, not giving any more insight into his thought process.
Mitsaru smiled, before he shyly ducked his head "I too would like to vote for Midoriya-Kun"
“Oh I agree!” Piped up Chava from the back “He defended Zoku, so I think he deserves the spot!”
Ford waved his arm like he was about to take off as a helicopter "I VOTE FOR KUMO TOO!"
Both Eva and Chikako looked at eachother, like they were telling each other “that’s a good idea!” before giving their votes as well.
Joel leans back in his chair, arm lazily held up “I vote for Shin, she’s like, super strong as fuck” he says easily, not even thinking about this seriously. Or bothering to notice the look his teacher gave him.
Meldori raised her hand “I vote for Shinso, seeing that he’s been here at UA since the start of the school and would know more than us” she says confidently, ignoring the stink eye thrown her way.
The class was silent until Chura raised his hand “I vote for Shinso then, power and not backing down from a fight is nice, but we need a president who knows what he’s doing and what UA has in store.” He finished rather curtly.
Mikumo rose his hand “since I can’t vote for myself, and many I don’t know that well, I agree with Onigumo, having someone who is advanced when it comes to U.A. is a much needed skill”
Tsukiko rose her hand “I vote for Inzen, we can’t have a president with no sense of humor, just sour faces all of the time”
Shinso sighed and slowly raised his hand “I vote for Mikumo” he said evenly. Shin and Ryogami raised their hands at the same time “I vote for Shinso” they said together. Shitae laughed, waving her hands “I like both of them! Grumpy faces!” She laughed.
“Shinso’s actually a pretty good option, I vote for him too!” Kana agreed with her classmates, hand raised slightly.
Kira and Hanamaru both raised their hands and voted for Mikumo, the last person to vote was Kishin.
Said girl didn’t bother to raise her hand “why don’t you be the president? Why does it have to be one of us?” she asked their teacher.
“Class President represents the class during certain events, and it can’t be the teacher since it’s his job to teach us, not represent us, only we can do that” Shinso explained to her.
Kishin nodded slowly “You’re...Shinso, right?” and at his nod she announced “Then I vote for you Shinso”
Wittenstein, who has been writing down all of the votes hummed in confirmation “So, from what I can see, Mikumo wins as class president, but Shinso as class deputy”
There was a round of applause from the classroom, equal feelings of victory and pride.
