Yuetara Sukitara Katoph YueMai Sukaang Haruko (haru/zuko) Maiaang

Not going to lie to you mod, I don't like Maitara but all your other ships are superb so here's a headcanon I have for each one:

Yuetara - Yue watches over Katara as the moon, always rooting for her and empowering her waterbending;

Sukitara - Suki and Katara swap clothes. Suki is very comfortable in water tribe outfit as it brings out her eyes. Katara takes a little getting used to Kyoshi warrior's outfits but eventually learns how to move and fight in it as well as waterbend by using fans;

Katoph - They have a spa day once a month together without fail, even if they're staying in different countries, they'll find a way to make time for each other;

YueMai - (No war AU) where these two meet each other during a diplomatic visit, at first they don't get along but they find that they have a lot in common: being rich daughters expected to sacrifice for their family/nation after which they run away together;

Sukaang - They ride Unagi together at Kyoshi island. They also travel the world together trying to find Kyoshi era artifacts/historical documents to preserve Kyoshi's legacy for the next generation;

Haruko - (Canon divergence) while disguised as Lee, Zuko meets Haru and stays with his family. He hears about what fn did to earthbenders and even though his worldview doesn't change overnight, he can't help but be appalled at what he hears. After the war he comes back to this village to compensate them for his nation's crimes and reveal his true identity. Haru is the first person in that village to believe him and give him a chance, which Zuko greatly appreciates. They are also overjoyed after finding out that they both know Katara;

Maiaang - Aang explains to Mai that during their first meeting in Omashu he was trying to save her and her family after which Mai sheepishly apologies for attacking him and his friends with knives.

the desert episode is VERY katoph. katara defending toph after appa got muzzled?? letting her drink the last of their water as soon as she asked??? not letting her drink from the cactus despite letting sokka do it???? girlfriends.

I know you said you liked kataang and zukaang is your otp and I was wondering who would be your otp for katara (like if kataang didn't exist). It might be a little crazy but I think I like her with azula (provided that azula goes through a redemption arc first bc otherwise they wouldn't work for me). and as for healthier and more plausible ships I also really liked her with haru and toph.

Hmm that’s a good question! Obviously I’m a big fan of Sukitara because of how I’m writing them in TAatFP, but I really love Katoph as well, maaaaybe even a bit more than Sukitara, though I see them getting together as late teenagers/adults rather than during the events of the show. Azutara/Kazula is also a ship I love, it has SO much potential, and I think if Azula’s redemption arc is handled carefully, it would be a beautiful ship!

Honestly, other than Aang, there’s not really any male characters I ship Katara with lol. Haru has always kinda felt like a nothingburger character to me (sorry Haru 😭), and while I understand why people ship Katara with Zuko, I’ve never vibed with it personally, even as a kid.

AGHHH THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASK!! I LOVE KATOPH AND YOUR BLOG SEEMS AWESOME

hmmmmm i have lots but i do have a few favorites

i think they’re very touchy, like there’s so many cute little comic panels of them where they’re holding onto each other and toph sees through touch so the idea of them always being attached is so cute to me

i feel like katara definitely helped raise lin and suyin, as we don’t know much about their fathers (even though there are many, MANY theories lol) which helped her and toph to grow even closer, given that toph was experienced with helping raise kids in the southern water tribe and toph’s only experience with kids was demolishing them at her academy

“listen here, sugar queen” awakened something in katara, and katara sweeping those girls in ba sing sei away under the bridge awakened something in toph

toph would get REALLY annoyed with kataang being sappy when she first joined team avatar, which was one of the reasons she was so immediately willing to throw boulders and rocks at aang

in my world, when toph had that little tea party with iroh after running away, she definitely talked a TON about how confusing the way she felt about katara was

katara has very soft hands and toph has very calloused and rough hands

and there are many many more but im about to go camping so i wont have any wifi lol, but thank you again for your ask!! <3
