My pathfinder oc Valtyra (aasimar oracle) lost her memories due to backstory reasons, and so to prevent from losing memories again, she began to write everything down that happened around her! :)

Roxie, I’m love her. That’s also a clever way to trick your dm into giving you stuff like “but Valtyra would’ve written it down!!!” Genius.

Probably my biggest oc backstory to deal with memory loss is Bartok, my drow wizard. He was weakly and frail but showed great intellectual promise and so was sent to a library in Menzoberranzan. Though that’s where his memory starts to get fuzzy and all he knows for sure is that his memory has been tampered with. Big chunks of time are missing, minor details are difficult to grasp on to. Bartok has no idea what he can or cannot trust from his own memory of that time other than when he “woke-up” from it, there was blood on his hands and the library on fire. He’d maybe take to writing down what he could remember except for now he kind of doesn’t want to.
