Mr. Brzenzinski: *sigh* “Two more years and I can retire then no more forced chaperoning at these troublesome school events. You know, in my time we didn’t waste school money on frivolities, kids would just hang out in the woods and...” Ms. Flores: *watching the door - distracted* “Mm hmm, how interesting...” *nervous gasp* Coach: “Hello, Ms. Flores.” Ms. Flores: “You’re here!” *striving to sound casual* “...I mean, you’re here.” Coach: “I am and I hope you don’t think it’s inappropriate if I say you look lovely.” Ms. Flores: *voice suddenly small and breathless* “No...no, I don’t think that's...inappropriate...”

Archi: “...she hates me.” Ocean: “She doesn’t hate you. Poppy is a very passionate person and when her temper is up it takes a bit for it to quiet down again.” Archi: “To be honest, I’m not even sure what happened. One minute we were fine and the next ‘kaboom’.” Ocean: “You could have done anything and she would have found a reason to cool things off between you. She’s gun shy. Commitment is tough for her - but you’re a special guy, Arch, she’ll come around.” Luke: *clears throat* “Dance now?” Ocean: “Let me just help you clear your plate then I’m ready!”

Ocean: *low and fervid* “There he is...” *collective sigh*
Millie: “Why can’t high school boys be more like that?” Poppy: “Because they’re ‘high school boys’ and that, ladies, is a man.” Rosie: "If that’s what adulthood looks like I can’t wait to mature.” Ocean: “Preach, sister.” Millie: *a little nervously* “Let’s not loiter too long. If his wife see us staring she’ll give us one of those chilling looks. I swear, that woman is cold blooded.” Poppy: *incredulously* “Mrs. Cooper? She seems as gentle as a ‘kitten’. Rosie: “You have nerves of steal, Poppy.”
Poppy: “On second thought, girls, I don’t think I’m coming shopping after all.” Millie: “What? Are you sure?” Ocean: “Come on, Pop - the best therapy for a broken heart is ‘retail therapy’!” Poppy: “I think I’ll walk home then go for a run or something.” Rosie: *whispered aside to Ocean* “Other girls would eat a whole pint of ice cream and watch a sad love story - Poppy runs a marathon!”
*cool, dewy air and morning birds chirping*
*voices hushed and moony* Rosie: “I really had such a great time, thank you.” Angelo: “So did I...” *kisses her eyelid, her cheek, the corner of her mouth*
Rosie: “We stayed out the whole night. I hope you won’t be in trouble with your guardian.” Angelo: “I won’t.” *kisses her fingers, her palm, the pulse on her wrist*
Rosie: *quiet admission* “I don’t want it to be over.” Angelo: “This date’s ending makes way for the next...I mean, I hope there will be a next. I...I want there to be a next.” Rosie: “Yes, yes...a next...” *kisses her temple, her jaw, the seam of her mouth*
---
Ocean: *teasing affectionately* “Look what the cat dragged in! And just what have you been doing until six-thirty in the morning?” Rosie: *blushing* “It was wonderful but right now I want to hear about the dance. How did your night go?”

Sam: “You’re here! You ready?” Jones: “You know it!” Millie: “I...I think so... hold on, guys...”
Millie: “You came!” Poppy: “Sure I did! I couldn’t miss your debut!”
Archi: *flummoxed sigh*
Luke: “Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?” Ocean: *giggle* Luke: “Should we dance?” Ocean: “Wait! Look, there’s macaroons!”
Jones: “Well, we’re all set up. I guess it’s now or never!”
*kissing kissing*
Ocean: *whispering* “Luke, let’s go somewhere…where we can be alone.” Luke: *swallows* “Are…are you sure?” Ocean: “I’m sure.” Luke: “Come on then.”

Ms. Flores: “Mr. Chuchichästli said there were more cups here.” Coach: “Did he give you any idea where to look?” Ms. Flores: *sighing* “This is Mr. Chuchichästli we’re talking about. He’s vague with the details.” Coach: “Well, let’s start on this side of the room and work our way across.”
Millie: “Where’d he get that scooter?” Ocean: “The 1980′s. He looks like a giant next to it!” Rosie: “Don’t you dare make fun of him!” Millie: “Here he comes!”
Rosie: *shyly* “Hi.” Angelo: *nervously* “H...hello.” *moment of anxious silence* Angelo: “You look nice.” Rosie: “So do you.” *another moment of anxious silence*
Ocean: *mummer* “We won’t get anywhere at this rate.” *brightly* “That’s a lovely flower, Angelo!” Angelo: “Oh! Yes, it’s for you, Finch.” Rosie: “Thank you, it’s beautiful.” Angelo: “Yeah...beautiful...” Rosie: *dreamily* “Shall we go?”
