I need to rework a lot of things but one area is the Heartbreak arc.
Heartbeat's initial thing is that she died. But as the Source absorbs her, the Speedforce is healing her. So she doesn't actually die fully. Metron implants a Mother Box to control/stop the Source, which in turn mutes her Speedforce connection.
Anyway, cut to way later after she controls her abilities and doesn't need to rely on Mother Box. Something happens to cause her to go into the Source, which incenses Metron.
Here's the new route I'm thinking. Metron wants to control the situation but the Source is still out of reach for him. So he goes to the only one who might be able to interfere, which is the Black Racer. The current Racer (tbd) does not play by his rules and there is little leverage to hold over them, as they only serve the Source. So Metron in his infinite wisdom (sarcasm) decides he must kill the Racer. He tries to set it up so that he himself will be chosen as the next one. That backfires and he becomes furious that he can't even deduce who/where the next one is.
Some time passes and idk what the situation will be, but he gets the surprise of his life when Heartbeat returns. I might not keep this part, but what I'm thinking is he's in dire straits and when she appears he's like oh thank fucking god im saved. But she says not so fast. She hasn't come to save him, but to return him to the Source. He's like wut. She isn't Heartbeat anymore. She is Heartbreak, and she is the Black Racer.
EDIT: Wait okay, what if when he blows his lab up it's actually an attempt to get her to show up bc if he's on the brink of death the Racer should appear. But instead all he gets are Orion and Lightray who think he's lost his mind with grief.
Ive got three characters right now. Didnt mean to have more than one. Actually, didnt mean to even have any! But it's been fun. I sort of feel bad that Heartbeat is in some ways the most bland of all of them. Probably because she was my first and the other two are newer with more potential. I know its completely normal to change things for OCs but I like the canon we've got going and it feels weird to re-do things.
Meanwhile, Heartbreak and Josephine feel so much more fun and vibrant. Maybe theyre just plain more interesting concept-wise and thats the crux of it. Since theyre not developed, Josephine has the ability to look and be anything right now as long as the main motivations are there. And Heartbreak is of course a variant of Heartbeat, so some is already prescribed. But she's going to be all kinds of things Heartbeat isn't, a realization of the negative or suppressed traits she has, someone who is done with living with inhibitions or putting up with things. So yeah, sometimes I tend to want to think about them instead of Heartbeat. Like HB's the vanilla version and the others have so much flavor. Dont get me wrong, I love vanilla. But the others can be so interesting.
I'm at the point where I have so many miscellaneous posts about my OC, I need a way to organize them all for quick reference, so here it is.
This will be linked in my pinned post. Future edits will be to reorganize into story order rather than chronological, and maybe add emojis to tag with certain themes. But for now it's all in one place, which is certainly better than before.

I never really had ocs before. I only barely do now. So i dont totally get the whole point of it beyond playing with dolls, so thats i guess what im gonna do?
Anyway, Heartbeat has an evil version called Heartbreak. Idk yet if its a twin, a clone, a version from another dimension, or what. But i think they should be terrible.✌️
