Odyssa, a new D&D character for a new game~
She’s kind of an inversion of Dindel and a combination lot of other character ideas I’ve had over the past few years. Like Dindel, she’s a “Divine” Soul Sorceress. Unlike Dindel, that power is definitely actually malevolent and destructive as hell. She’s a reflavored Shifter from the Eberron book, but rather than being lycanthropic, her father was a great greek-styled hero that happened to piss off the Demon Lord of gnolls Yeenoghu on one of his exploits, cursing his bloodline.
So her shifter powers are actually her losing her mind to her cursed gnollish blood rage and going a bit nuts. And also all of her magic is destructive (Bane, Inflict Wounds, etc, no heals here). And she tries, very, very hard, to keep both of those things in check at all times, because she has a good heart and doesn’t want to be a monster (and also because the more she does it the more gnollish she gets - she wasn’t born with those legs or a tail~)
She’s also pretty buff (14 Strength, 16 Con), and pretty tiny (5′3, an inch or two shorter than Dindel~), and a would-be cleric of Ilmater after an owl-folk cleric took her in after a particularly bad time in her life. I say “would-be”, because she’s yet to manifest any actual clerical power - possibly partly because any holy symbol she holds on to for too long tends to rust and corrode swiftly~
We had the first game session last weekend and during it that owl-folk cleric apparently went nuts and burned down the town (mind-altering magic is suspected), so she and the others (Oscar, a human bard who’s actually a writer not a musician - Elinog, a minotaur druid who’d really rather not deal with people - and Elindar, a drow man turned into a mutant Draegloth barbarian (a reflavored Eberron Semic Hybrid)) are now off to find where the cleric fled to and help him get his mind back/find answers to what happened.
