“clearly you need to have someone around that is as talented as i am in the magical arts.” of course loki knew who wanda was. and of course, there had been the stories that they had become privy to while attempting to catch up with all they had missed in their untimely demise. not that loki enjoyed thinking about that particular subject matter if it could be helped. that was why they were back in this time, wasn’t it?? to rewrite the future, to do something different this time around. “i’d be more than willing to teach you a few things, if you’re interested. i’ve had quite a few centuries to perfect my own art form.”

being a mutant, laurie could understand a lot of supernatural happenings in this city. while yeah, it was frustrating that the subway wasn’t running due to a “mutant-related electrical issue,” she hoped whoever had caused it was alright, rather than being angry at them about it. the same couldn’t be said for others, the crowd growing more and more impatient and angry by the minute, some even resorting to threats. it was the first time she’d intentionally used her powers since coming here, trying to just calm those around her, despite not feeling very calm herself. it didn’t entirely work, but the realization of what she’d done left her filled with shame, and she quickly made her way up the stairs, hoping no one would catch on. of course, someone was approaching right as she reached the top. “don’t even bother going down there,” laurie warned before realizing that might have sounded rude. “s-sorry. i just meant that, um, the trains aren’t running right now. they’re not gonna be back up for a while.”

even now, steve could still barley process the fact that tony was here. alive and well. after watching the sacrifice that had been made -- after the funeral, it still hadn’t settled in that the other man was gone from this world. that earth had lost one of its greatest defenders, and the man that he had blundered every single chance with no matter how many chances they had received over the years. every single time steve had shied away from it, or there had been far too many important things to focus on than the feelings that he had kept locked up for too long now. there had always been a maybe next time that had become a trend until that fateful day. no more chances, no more opportunities. he’d lost his chance for good, steve had thought.
somehow, someway, he’d been given a second chance to amend the mistakes he had made for years in his silence. always looking whenever he felt that tony wouldn’t notice, always brushing off the flirting that transpired between them as something that was just the norm for tony. for a man that was known to be a risk taker and throw caution to the wind in battle and on missions, he could be a damn coward whenever it came to his own feelings.
now, settled atop one of the counters in stark’s lab, he could barley keep his eyes away from the man. tracking every single step, tracking every little movement that was made and relishing in the fact that tony was here, and he was alive. it made his heart both ache and swell, a bittersweet smile on his lips. “so, you going to tell me exactly what you’re working on here, or am i going to have to talk your ear off while you work??” he questioned, a fondness in his voice for one of his closest friends on this planet. “what’s it going to take to get your whole attention if i said we should -- talk??”
