Thanks! :D Here's an excerpt from Like Snow on Hungry Graves (warning for violence and minor character death):
Konstantine stepped over a headless body. He clasped a handkerchief over his mouth and nose. Stakes with heads displayed on them were planted in the ground outside some buildings. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the decapitations. The other bodies were intact. Some had been stabbed, some looked like they'd been burnt, some had apparently leapt to their deaths from the upper storeys.
A body was pinned to the wall of the main brothel. A metal spear held it in place like a butterfly in a collection. Konstantine looked at the face. It was contorted in agony, but still recognisable as the leader of the Chkabarirk gang.
Letters were painted in blood above his head. Konstantine squinted. At first they looked like random nonsense. Then he saw other letters painted on the surrounding buildings.
A message was written across the whole street:
Rusudan Lajarashvalë sends her regards.
🦋🕳 for the ask game?
Thanks! :D I'll do this for The Unfortunate Moth:
🦋 - Which character has the biggest transformation?: Phil. She goes through absolute hell in the book: emotionally and psychologically abused by her aunt, accidentally killed a man, discovered her aunt's body, accused of murdering her aunt, arrested and expected to be tried for murder... Plus the murderer's identity is a huge shock to her.
According to my current outline she gets a happy-ish ending, where she takes over her aunt's business and finally gets some peace and quiet (and can decide what to do with her own life, something she was never able to do before).
🕳 - What’s a plot hole you just can’t seem to fix?: This is pretty spoiler-y, but: the murderer genuinely likes Phil (haven’t decided yet if this is romantic or platonic). He also murders Rachael in a way that throws suspicion on Phil (he saws a hole in Phil’s wall and shoots Rachael through it). I’m trying to figure out how the heck these two fit together.
All I can think of is that he took it for granted Phil would have an alibi at the time of the murder, and is honestly shocked that she doesn’t. Which makes him an idiot, but I guess that’s better than him deliberately framing her.
