Cyphen is a free soul, living from job to job, never satisfied and perpetually unhappy. They occasionally with for things to improve, but any plan to try and improve things is too terrifying to follow through on. They rarely have the energy to try in the first place, always more focused on making it to the next day. (can be tied into Dreadful Chains as their life before the soul deal).

Cyphen is bound to an aspiring overlord known as Alan Bradley, having made a deal to give their soul in exchange for safety and security. They rarely leave their own home other than to head into work when requested by Alan, who doesn't seem to care about their thoughts or feelings so long as they do as told. They signed up for this knowing what to expect, but it gets grating. At least they know they're safe...
