“You know what would be fun?”
He smells of sea salt and the afternoon sun, hair tossed this way and that by the strong winds yet he doesn’t seem to care. Warm palms bring up the camera to aim at the nearby shops illuminated by streetlights that had only recently flickered to life, and the shutter button goes off with a click. Way too touristy, he knows, but he just can’t seem to stop documenting everything since he got here, way more than he did with the other places that he’s been to. There’s something about this place, Gabe thinks, that sets it apart from everywhere else. Is it the magic that he had heard so much about? He wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case; the island is bursting with life and energy, and maybe, just maybe, he’ll be able to find what he’s looking for here. “A beach party. Not the type where you’d swim because it’s still too cold for that, but one with a bonfire and drinks, you know? And fireworks.”
He aims the camera for another shot, but then he pauses, finally turning to his companion with the corners of his lips upturned. “Are fireworks even allowed here?”
