since the 63rd hunger games, ambruze has been terrified of the ocean. although his hometown occupies a special place in his heart, he’d avoid visiting the fishery district for years, due to memories of his games’ deadly synthetic seas. he could not bear to look at bodies of water, until he developed feelings for vidia.
as they began dating, he would venture out into the beaches, dipping slowly into the waters. over several months, he was able to swim again. he later took a dive to find some beautiful, real pearls for vidia. it wasn’t something she had requested; he just wanted it. he wanted to give her a stunning necklace adorned with pearls he had plucked from the ocean himself. he was in love.
