"So, you're the one called Aqua..." Said the purple Fortuneteller.
Without hesitation at the call of her name, Aqua turned around,“Why yes, yes I-” she stopped in her tracks. Wait, this..this is a heartless! How is it communicating with her? Baffled but still on guard, she pulled out her keyblade. “You’re a heartless…How are you talking and what do you want with me!”
I stared up at the screen as the Victory Tour ended. My eyes had been glued to the blaring TV for the last few months. I hadn’t bothered to shower in days, and my split ends had gone to hell. I couldn’t stand watching those interviews with the bitch, Minnie. Every time her stupid face appeared on my screen I wanted to barf. Sometimes I did. I stopped eating, I realized I couldn’t keep anything down. I slept most of the time. I didn’t have anything else to do, and nothing made me happy. I always wondered how Stella was doing. Did she like the new GM. Did she like her...more than me? Had she forgotten about me altogether? That one made me most upset.
So I sat there as usual, Alice at my feet. (She was really the only thing left that I cared for. I tried to remember to feed her each day.) And then, there was a knock on my door. There hadn’t been a knock on my door in months. Ignored it, sure it was my insanity speaking. I had gone stir crazy months ago. The knocking became louder and I rolled my eyes. I stood from my chair and made my way over to the door, in my smelly blue pajamas. I expected the door to be locked, it had been for the last few months, but when I turned the knob, it glided open, and who else was standing there, then President Snow himself. I gave him a curious look.
“Hello Aqua.” He said, he jet black hair gelled back as usual and his long beard tamed as could be.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I’m here to release you of course. The Victory Tour is over, it’s time for you to come back to work.” He said. I looked at him for a moment, before bursting out into laughter. I took a step back, holding my stomach as I cackled.
“What?” I asked. “You think I’m going back there?” I walked into my apartment, falling into my chair. “You sir, are crazier than me!” I said with a smile. Walked in and stood across from me, giving me an odd look.
“What ever do you mean Aqua?”
“Coriolanus, you think that after all of this, after everything you put me through, I would go back to work for you?” I asked him, looking him in the eye.
“Well of course, you don’t have much of a choice dear.” He said, gesturing to the peacekeepers at the door.
“You think I care about my life? I’ve lost everything, my best friend, my lover, my job, my family, you tore it all away from me. You wanna kill me? Kill me. Torture me. Pick out my brain and store it in a jar, I don’t give a fuck, but I am never, setting foot in your office again.” I said, standing. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go get freshened up.” I said with a grin. I walked past him and into my bedroom. I pulled off my pajamas and pulled on a blue sundress. I through my hair up into a tight bun and slipped on a pair of heels. I grabbed my suitcase I always had packed and walked back into the main room. “It was nice knowing you Coriolanus.” I said, placing a kiss on his cheek. “Don’t miss me too much.” I winked and walked through the door. “Farewell boys!” I cheered, I marched down the hallway. I took the glass elevator straight down, where I was met at the door with paparazzi. They crowded me as I walked to my car, my sunglasses shielding my eyes from the flash of their cameras.
“Aqua where have you been?” They shouted. “Miss LeighAnn are you having an affair with the president?”
“Been there, done that!” I smiled and climbed into my car, rolling up the window.
“Aqua where are you going?”
“Somewhere you’ll never find me dear! Step on it!” The car lurched forward and I was off, never to return.
After a few hours of driving, we pulled into a meadow. I awoke from my nap as the driver declared that we had arrived. I smiled, excitedly getting out of the car. I looked off into the distance. There was a small cottage deep in the valley and a figure standing in front of it. I grinned, pulling my heels off and running towards him. I jumped into Buddy’s arms and he swung me around. He lowered me into a kiss. The driver pulled my suitcase out of the car and wished me luck. I thanked him and he drove off.
I still watch the games every year, and I even sponsor a tribute. Now that I’ve married a Victor, and watched the games from a different perspective, I know how awful they are, and I helped create them. I feel as though it’s my duty to help get kids out of there.
I realize now, that I don’t need all that fancy stuff in order to be happy. I don’t need money, or clothes, or any of it. I just need one thing, love.
And now I’ve got it, and I’m never going to let it go.
