thinking about how overwhelmingly delicate that scene in kuuga's episode 38 is.
the incredibly private quality of the sequence (not only is detective ichijou injured in a private hospital room, but also that it is a one-on-one conversation with a longtime friend, who knows him so well by now) and yet he still speaks so tentatively and quietly, not even calling godai by name. it feels overwhelmingly like a very hesitant confession.
and then tsubaki's comment of "you still don't like saying what you really mean" pointing to everything that ichijou has still left out.
that he was dreaming about godai. that godai shouldn't be here and should much rather be out on adventures. but stopping just short of mentioning the why behind him thinking these things. that he also wants to be by his side. that he wants to remain close to him.

The more I think about it the more it seriously bothers me how we can’t see Shuichi’s thoughts at all, in the former part of Chapter 1. The entire time he’s helping Kaede with her plan is a complete blank, and he does some weird fucking stuff for a supposedly ‘innocent and oblivious’ person. Like even for Shuichi, this is ridiculous. He just ‘so happens’ to pick the very things that Kaede would find handy to her plot, even though there’s more useful things present.
What’s even worse about this is the fact Shuichi is capable of deluding himself as Tenko points out this tendency in him, and Shuichi’s fixation on things that go along with his thought process - his biases - is also rather... interesting. We don’t know exactly why he ignored the things that he did in Chapter 1. We just go along with the assumptions everyone else makes, that he had ‘no cause’ to think it was suspicious. Yet the shotput ball path is very clear to him in plain sight, when he’s on the ladder. It’s unmistakable that something is going on.
So isn’t it funny how he fixates on Kaede a good number of times, appeared inordinately happy that she was working with him, and yet ‘completely overlooked’ a few odd things she was doing...? This, on top of WITHHOLDING information from her about ‘her own plot’?
