To add on, college AU Mac who thinks they can definitely make you swoon by showing off how smart and capable they are, only for the two of you to be (like you said) idiots in love. Every time they mess up the more they think you are thinking less of them and hurting their chances of being with you (not knowing that you feel the same way)
