oh bestie spill! what’re your lover skips? (and mids and favs while you’re at it) 💖
hsdjkfhdskjfhkjsdhs....sigh. lover. complicated feelings. truly an essay under the cut (also don't want to be toooo negative on everyone's dashes i am TRYING to cut back)
my faves are of course cruel summer and inthaf, two of the best of her discography i think, inthaf is just. truly special. people like to say that it was the prelude to folklore or w/e swifties say but honestly, it has this dreamy lover tinge that is very much it's own thing and i love it in a way more than folklore. i also LOVE i think he knows sdfl;jsd it's just such a feel good horny banger , we* (*well. not me. but people who are going) were ROBBEDDDD of getting to scream the last i think he knows in the bridge in a stadium. paper rings is also a legend, i still have such a soft spot for her friendship with jack and this song creates such a strong image of them as this hippie wedding band i love it.
on the other end of the spectrum....i can't really listen to some of those pop disaster anymore klafdjsjdl it's just. they're fine ig? but it's just so not her to make pop music that is MID. so i barely listen to me/yntcd/the man/london boy. i am an enjoyer of the clean bandit remix of yntcd tho dsfljsldk and also the city of lover ver of me where she screams HEY KIDS! and the crowd yells the spelling is fun back like they're under her spell sdjflksdj The Power Of Women.
others i really like are iftye (i just . think it's a fun opening track. and i think it helped reset expectations from the album haha.) DAYLIGHT (i love to interpret it as being about self acceptance and it's just... beautiful to me idk what the fandom consensus on this one is but i love it) and the archer is still very special to me. miss americana is kind of cringe and i can't really listen to it anymore but i love the concept and the atmospheric feel to it. lover is also a weird one cause it's for me peak example of both really great taylor lyrics and really cringe one ('with every guitar string scar on my hand' god tier 'magnetic force of a man' lame) idk i used to love it and now it's not even on my lover playlists sdkfjslkj. sygb is of course beautiful but i kind of can't listen to it cause. well. i actually can't really listen to marjorie either
the last few are...strange. by order, i really like dbatc, it has such fun bridge fldkjskdfl it's so fun to sing along to. but what is up with those production choices besties. i like the production choices on cor st. but i just...i don't KNOW what is it about these last four that i can't put my finger on why they don't fully click for me like i can't point at something specific that annoys me. i know it's a lesbian crime not to like false god and i did like it a bit more with the piano version but sdkfjsdl i feel bad for trash talking the sax and i like that she Tried Something it just sdjflksjdfl. and afterglow...idk. there is just something about the bubblegum-ness of lover that is just...idk!!!!! idk. either way. if you actually read all this thank you.
that anon's message about William Wordsworth using the writings of a lesbian woman gives a WHOLE new twist to everything William Bowery... a presumably straight man getting credit for the writings of a queer woman
