favorite tags (i.e. PROMO... my version of one, at least)
Warning: This post is massively long, but I promise you might find a reward at the end... :)
So, I have a little idea... let me start by saying it came from two things:
ANYWAY, having said that the number of followers isn't important, this in no way means that I don't care about the people that follow me. I am constantly pleased and excited that someone who decides to follow me must, in some way, enjoy what I post. I cherish the thought that on any given day, someone that Likes or Reblogs my post just found the song they want to put on repeat for the next day/week/month(/life!) And to share that mostly with people who also love The Vampire Diaries... to use a British expression, I'm just chuffed at the thought of it all.
Unfortunately, with the way I've chosen to run this blog (all original posts, no reblogging, and one song per day at most), I tend not to interact with my followers as much as I might like. There are a few that make themselves more visible to me by frequently reblogging - you guys are super awesome! But I sometimes fear that with just one daily post, these songs that I love so much get lost in the shuffle of all the other wonderful blogs you all follow.
Second: (Did you forget there was going to be a second thing? I almost did.) I thrive on the little pleasures in life. A lot of you probably know what I mean: a random compliment on your appearance, a friendly cashier at the grocery store, a dog in the window of the car driving next to you, getting all green lights on the way to work. Sometimes when everything else seems to be going to shit, the tiniest thing can take a whole lot of weight out of a heavy, dreary day.
My favorite "little pleasure" on tumblr is checking out what tags people use on reblogs of the songs I post. Most don't put any (sad face); sometimes people use "music" or some variation thereof so they can keep track of songs for themselves (understandable); but I love, love, love when people write some crazy-ass thing about the song that just says how they feel about it. For me, there's the hypothetical "I love this song!" that I imagine my rebloggers say, and then there's the real, creative thing that comes from someone who isn't me, who somewhere in the world is enjoying this audio post I put into the tumblr-verse.
SO, now that I've built up to this Grand Idea Of Mine, someone will probably tell me, "Uh, duh, a lot of people already do that." WELL I THOUGHT OF IT ALL ON MY OWN SO. Whatever. This is it: If you reblog one of my posts with a creative tag about how you feel about the song, I might include it in a "favorite tags" post. This is my own version of a promo, in that I will copy your tag directly from your blog, and so it will link to you from my "favorite tags" post. It's a win for you if people click on your tag and find out your blog is AWESOME, and a win for me because I love tags and creativity and creative tags. Does that sound like a plan???
