HELP ME no keeping calm and carrying on going on here unfortunately. it's a buck and eddie meet in 2010 au, where buck ends up in el paso. it's probably more accurately a folklorevermore au because it started with me sorting all of folklore + evermore into a narrative and then ended up with this, which is a fic where eddie and buck are almost something but both too scared and too young to do anything about it, and then shannon gets pregnant </3 and then buck and eddie end up at the 118 together anyway years later.

Eddie slides the picture along the table, face up, towards Hen’s waiting hands. Her brow furrows, but she’s silent as she lifts the picture with careful fingers. Eddie watches, half holding his breath, as she takes in the mark over Buck’s eye, nearly covered by his too-long curls. There’s no mistaking him, even ten years younger. Eddie’s a little harder to identify, he knows, freshly buzzed for the army, half hiding his dimpled smile in the side of Buck’s head, but Eddie catches the moment where she does. “Oh,” she says, almost too quiet for Eddie to hear. “Eddie.” Eddie clears his throat, warming his hands around his mug. “Yeah.” “You…” “Buck was nineteen,” he says, staring into the dark liquid of his coffee to avoid Hen’s knowing eyes. “I was twenty-one.
