Thank you to girlslikemenwhodresswell, ohsolovelyobsessions, aspiringforever, whimsicalandotherworldly, waltzofthesnowflakes, cyrillah, and thesoulselects for asking!
1. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
I got an internship and worked through the summer for the first time.
5. What countries did you visit?
France, Italy, Switzerland, the States.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Concrete achievement? Successfully completing my internship. Personal achievement? Coming to terms with the fact that I do indeed want to study literature and recognizing that the happiness it brings me makes it worth it.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
That I bought for myself? A boatneck, navy and white Saint James dress. It's a classic piece that I'm sure will last me ten years, at least.
That someone else bought for me? The YSL handbag I picked out for my birthday.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
Happier, same, personally richer.
21. Did you fall in love in 2012?
With places and books and shows and most importantly, with my studies, yes. Romantically, no.
22. What was your favourite TV program?
24. What was the best book you read?
The Buccaneers, Edith Wharton
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Dario Marianelli's Anna Karenina score.
27. What did you want and not get?
I honestly can't think of anything important... I hoped to get a MacBook Air to make lugging my computer to school more bearable, but ended up realizing there was nothing wrong with my MacBook for the time being.
28. What was your favourite film of this year?
I don't think I've seen any of the films that were released this year... I rediscovered and fell in love with Gone With the Wind in 2012. Does that work?
29. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Finally enjoying my studies and pursuing what I love.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
2012 was the year when I came in to my own, in terms of fashion... so to speak. It has also been the year when I let go a bit, deciding that even if I'm at my most comfortable in a dress or a skirt, it's alright to dress down from time to time, to wear a long sweater over leggings and riding boots if I'm going to spend the entire day reading and going back and forth between classes.
My grandmother, tea, books, long walks, Downton Abbey (oh, the irony), and tumblr.
33. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't think I should answer this.
35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
People get older. They change. They fail to mature. They make for toxic friends, and the worst thing you can do is to continue being friends with them just because you've known them for xyz years. If they make you unhappy or fail to recognize your value, then you should let go and move on to new friends.
