Imbloc
Imbloc the holiday of purity, growth and re-newel. It is a reunion of the God and Goddess. It is now time to rid the old that does not serve or benefit us and make way for the new.
Besoms, white flowers, candle wheels, Brigid crosses, acorn tipped wands and ploughs are common symbols of Imbloc.
Herbs to use during this celebration are Angelica, basil, Bay Laurel, BlackBerry, coltsfoot, Heather, Iris, myrrh, celandine, violets, Tandy, all white or yellow flowers.
Foods used in this celebration are pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seed cakes/muffins, scones, breads, diary, peppers, onions, garlic, raisins, spiced wines and herbal teas.
Incenses to use basil, bay, wisteria, cinnamon, violet, vanilla and myrrh.
Stones: amethyst, bloodstone, garnet, ruby, onyx and turquoise.
Colors of the Imbloc are white, pink, red, yellow, green and blue.
Activities to do are candle lighting, Stone gathering, snow hiking (to look for signs of spring) making acorn tipped wands, decorating ploughs, feasting, non fires and making straw dolls.
Imbloc means “belly of the mother” because that is where seeds begin to stir as it is spring.
