ᴀ/ɴ ; Hello everybody I'm sorry for the unexpected hiatus! The last time I posted was after my graduation and the first week of my summer break. I have experienced tough moments this month of April. So to make it up, here is some Yuji angst! Also just finished rewatching banana fish so I had to make you guys weep too!

It's been years since I last saw Yuji Itadori. The former trio and old friends from Jujutsu High barely kept in touch, especially one after another kept passing away. But time didn't stop for me. I traced my face with my fingers, eyes closed, memorizing every wrinkle and scar I'd earned. He used to say they were "victory or battle scars" – something to be proud of. Even years after the "victory," the pride remained.
He isolated himself from the Jujutsu Society. I wasn't sure if it was selflessness or selfishness that drove him to hide. After Hana's funeral, he was devastated, locking himself away from the world. He was lonely, but I was here too.
Now, lying in my deathbed, I realized something. He tried to return the favor – being there for the person you love, cheering and supporting them. That was even before he decided to leave.
As I tried to recall his face, I saw him hunched over, hood shadowing his features, bits of light pink hair peeking out. I couldn't see his eyes. His stance mirrored our former teacher's – a curse of being the strongest.
His hands reached for mine, bringing them to his lips for a faint peck on the back of my palm. I couldn't read his emotions – maybe my vision was too blurry, or he hid them on purpose. I couldn't speak; perhaps I was too old. Or maybe it was God's way of saying, "You don't need more pain before you pass."
But I knew it wasn't pain I felt. They say you should have happiness in your final moments. He was my happiness – even when he hid from everyone, even when he pretended he couldn't handle it.
If he couldn't be happy, at least i was happy because of him, right?
The BP monitor's beeps filled our silence. He knew I lacked the energy to talk, so he just observed me peacefully, as if saying, "Please stay a bit longer."
I knew my time was up; my heartbeat synced with the monitor's slow line. I wanted my last sight and minutes with the man I wished I'd spent my life with.
My heartbeat slowed; my eyelids drooped. My thumb brushed against the back of his hand. I looked one last time.
"You don't have to hide from me, Yuji Itadori," I tried to say, but my voice was gone. I tried to smile, but I couldn't. My strength wasn't as strong as the feeling I'd had for him all along.
One last time, I opened my eyes. I swear I saw clear tears streaming down his face. His lips trembled; I couldn't hear his words, but I heard his muffled sobs.
"You don't have to be strong and emotionless with me, Yuji. I enjoyed every minute of your true nature," I thought, hoping he'd understand.
