7. Standby Chick 💺
I flew standby for the first time. Standby is when you get to fly if there’s an empty seat. The flight attendant told me the flight I booked was full but I can wait to see if a seat becomes available. 30 minutes before the departure, she told me, “You’re flying today.” 🤗
I was absolutely thrilled. Apparently, for domestic flights, if you don’t check in 45 minutes before take off, you’re not eligible to fly (It’s 2 hours prior for an int’l flight). Ty, airline gods, for lookin out for your girl.
That moment was a mix of spontaneity, freedom, blessings, and fate. It encapsulated everything I want my 2022 travels to be. I’m also pleased to report that I scored a window seat. First flight of the year!
