BIOGRAPHY (Trigger Warning: Death, Car Accident, Sexual Experimentation)
Oliver’s entrance into the world was welcomed by a mother, Darcy, who couldn’t have wanted him more if she tried. At just 19 years old, Darcy knew that she was meant to be a mother. It had taken everything in her to convince everyone around her that she was ready for this task; she could make this work even when all of the odds were against her. Just a few months prior to the birth, a tragic car accident occurred. Oliver’s father, Reese, died at the scene-- allowing Darcy no choice but to continue on with a new outlook on life. All signs pointed for failure, for Darcy to recognize that she wasn’t ready for this. The least she could do was give Oliver the life that she knew that his father would have wanted for him.
It wasn’t easy growing up without a father, but it was a life that Oliver had never known otherwise. All he saw was the strength that his mother encompassed. Watching her day in and day out, working tirelessly for the life that he had been granted looked like an impossible feat. However, Oliver was raised in the loving home that his grandparents had helped his mother build. His mother worked as a nurse during the day, and always made sure to be present at after-school soccer games, helping with homework, and tried her best to attend field-trips as a chaperone. It was a simple life, but not one that didn’t come with challenges, of course. He never grew up with the best clothes or the most elaborate vacations, but what he did have was a woman that would have given her life for him at any given moment. A woman who showed Oliver what love meant and how to fight for what he wanted.
In high school, Oliver participated in soccer heavily all four years. His dreams of playing in college escalated his sophomore year when his team won the state championship, and his hard work had started to pay off. It was easy to fall into those daydreams of where he could afford a life that would be suitable for the ones that he loved; his closest were his mom and grandparents, but he felt that it was a pipe dream. Of course his mom would never be able to afford to send him to a school that would accompany any of his wants, but he figured that he would just have to settle for less-- he’d have to settle into the blue-collar working class that everyone around him had primed him for his entire life.
One night, he had been invited to a party with a few of his high school teammates. The party involved all the things that a regular high school party would include, but to put it into one word it would be: experimentation. Oliver had some thoughts that had started to spiral a bit, he’d push them away as soon as they became cognitive. He felt that was what was supposed to happen. Being different was a quality that Oliver hated that he had started to develop. It didn’t take long for Oliver to recognize that the drunken state that he had started to fall into was one that included him feeling one of his friends, Chase, ran his hand up his leg, slowly and with a firm grip; a night that ended with him even more confused than prior. A few moments alone together caused the most confusion that he had felt in his life thus far. He felt that it should have given him clarity on the confusing thoughts that had been stirring between his ears, but it only created chaos and unruliness. Instead, he figured that because his friend continued to ignore what had happened between them, and he continued to see a girl that Oliver had known about, everything went back to normal. Nothing had happened, as far as either of them were concerned.
A few years later, after the hard work and tireless nights, everything was about to pay off. Oliver was accepted to his dream school, Georgetown University in Washington DC. Becoming a doctor hadn’t been the plan all along, but after a few anatomy courses and recognizing that his hands were much more sturdy than he had ever given himself credit for, it was all that he could think about. After years of work and dedication, Oliver had to choose where to begin his residency. He hadn’t completely thought about his line of work yet, but he had figured that his strengths involved working in the operating room, under pressure and in the intensity of the moment. With that being said, Oliver had decided to make his way to Harvard, where he had found his place in his doctorate program. Everything was working out the way he had always dreamed it would. There had to be a catch somewhere, he thought. After starting his residency, and finishing up school, his roots planted in Kings Head, a place that felt like a home away from home. His needs are minimal, and he makes sure to give his dogs walks every day and washes his face morning and evening-- besides that, Oliver’s thirties are nearly over and he feels like his life hasn’t truly begun. At the end of the day, who needs anything more than a walk on the beach and a green juice, anyways?
