I tried using the instructions to run the demo on mac but after downloading wine, I tried to open the game as instructed and it won't open.

i’m sorry to hear that! i don’t have a mac so i can’t really test it--all i can suggest is googling around, there’s a lot of documentation out there for folks trying to run rpg maker games in wine
