Will Solace is struck by how it will be, to have Camp Half-Blood go on without him there, and how odd it will be to not be there in the same capacity that he has been for so long.

Nico di Angelo is struck by how different this place is to him, now, and how he can be happy while leaving without being happy about leaving.

Can be read as a continuation to Light A Roman Candle With Me, but it isn't necessary to read that to understand this.

“Are you still studying?”

Nico shoots Will a disbelieving look as he crosses through the kitchen on his way to their bedroom, unwinding the dark blue scarf from around his neck as he moves. Will’s tousled curls bob as he nods and mumbles an, “Mhmm,” under his breath, but he doesn’t acknowledge Nico’s presence otherwise, his gaze focused intently on the mess of diagrams, notecards, and textbooks spread out in front of him.

Right here, in the middle of battle, Jason’s eyes were wide.  He had a weird smile on his face.  

"Just trust me, okay?” he whispered, slowly backing away from the front lines.  He beckoned for Nico to follow.  

Rolling his eyes, he obliged.  Once they were in earshot of the medics, Jason shouted (in a very bad stage voice), “Oh, no!  Nico- you’re hurt!”

“What?!” Nico demanded.  Jason sent some not-so-subtle eye cues, obviously nodding his head towards Will.  Then, Nico understood his plan.

As he pulls away, she catches his eye and her smile turns mischievous. “So, what are you going to do with our apartment? It’s pretty big for one person…gonna get lonely.”

“I think,” Nico says, “You should focus on your big day and not worry your pretty little head of what I’m going to do with the apartment.”

Hazel sticks her tongue out at him just as Piper pops her head in.

Nico doesn’t really know what date protocol is but he guesses sitting in the living room and watching the clock on the cable box change doesn’t count. To be fair, he is nervous; this is his first date and it looms closer with every change of the number and soon Will is going to be at the front door waiting to take Nico out like he does most Saturdays but it’s suddenly different.

He still doesn’t know how he feels about the different.

Nico goes to Piper.

Not just because she’s the daughter of the Goddess of love but because Piper is good with feelings, with emotions and Piper is the third closest friend he has at Camp Half Blood (second when Jason isn’t around) and she isn’t going to start squealing when he brings up his issue with her.

She’s alone in the cabin, for once, so Nico has no problem sitting down on her bed and saying, “I have a problem.”

She immediately puts her book aside and looks at him.

“A…relationship problem,” he continues, going red as she starts to smile. No squealing though. Bless Piper, really.
